the only thing that has jumped out at me in the last few years was the facial animations in uncharted, they had this disney-esq bigger than life quality that grabbed my attention.
probably the most fun to watch cut scenes i have ever seen.

Sheva Alomar

Hakkai007
I remember first looking up info on Resident Evil 5 and when I saw her character I knew there would be a nude patch for her right away.
And I was correct.....
xD Alyx and Sheva were quick to get the nude patch. :PxD Alyx and Sheva were quick to get the nude patch. :P
Elann2008
Yah I saw the Alyx Cinema mod nude patch and it was way too detailed.....
You could see the goosebumps on her skin.
I mean just look at the half life 2 mod pics of her face and you will kind of have an idea of what it looks like.

Sheva was a complete and utter moron. Worst AI ever. "Hey look, that laser beam is heading straight towards me. I COULD move two steps to the right and avoid it but-" *dead* *partner died* *game over*
That game was an abomination.

Before the flaming starts, I agree that RE5 was an abomination to the RE series. Code Veronica is my favorite amongst the RE games and RE5 was no Code Veronica in a sense. We're talking about character models here... not A.I. or how bad or great a game was. Strictly character models in the visual department. Just because the A.I. was bad, that doesn't make Sheva as a character bad. Two different things. :)[QUOTE="Master_ShakeXXX"]

No worries. :DNathan Drake UC2
Kratos Gow3
Everyone in MGS4, but Snake especially!
hd5870corei7
Those would be the three best IMO as well. I would also throw in Crysis and Metro 2033 for PC.
FTW
call_of_duty_10
Come ON man. You can do better than that. That screenshot does no justice to Crysis.
Theres a major problem in there, assassins creed looks terrible on console versions altairs face is all jaggedyMine are:
Snake (MGS4.)
Bayonetta.
Drake (Uncharted 2)
Altair (Assassins creed)
The joker, Batman and bane. (Batman AA)
The Trico ( The Last Guardian 8) )

I did have the nude patch and it didn't make it any better.....just more awkward.
I used these outfits for my characters.
I used some gun texture mods too.

The Character models from Mass Effect 2 are absolutely amazing!
I don't own the game, but this has always impressed me a great deal. It's so clean and clear

I hesitate to call them "good" because those things are ugly as sin... whatever they are. But yeah, the character models are impressive.
ME2 looks even better when its runningSPBoss
true even ME2 looks better than crysis. Still think fight night round 4 wins character models handedly though... i mean their freaking muscles flex in real time.

Yh but thats because theres nothing else to render in the whole scene lol, maybe the title should of been best character models & best world detail[QUOTE="SPBoss"]ME2 looks even better when its runningmarkinthedark

Nah ME2 does not look better than Crysis even when we are talking about character models.
And yes I have the game on PC maxed out and even modded to look better and it doesn't match Crysis.

Sure the environments are miniature, sure there are only a maximum of 2 character models on the screen.... but if you wanna know the best video game character models, fight night round 4 is the answer. :P

You know im not too thick headed ill admit you might be right. I think ME2 just has alot more closeups than crysis so it seems that way.
but FNR4 still wins overall... :P
fight night round 4 = win
EDIT: not bullshots
markinthedark
I don't think those models are all that to be honest. Sure the polygon count is staggering to say the least but they look plastic and judging by those pics I would say the textures in Crysis gives the models are more "realistic" look.

well i didnt look too hard for a pic i just grabbed one off gamespot... i had a bad experience linking a pic from a foreign site that ended up showing goatse for remote linking. So i didnt want to chance it. Im sure there are much better examples out there.
But i think if you watch the video link in HD the models look pretty fantastic. In motion, i think they are hard to beat... especially considering the character models change in real time.
EDIT: and in reality alot of those crysis pics those textures are far from realistic.... you cant see pores like that on anyone from that distance... nobody has pores that huge.
2nd EDIT: and the plastic look comes from the real time sweat physics (which i personally think is another feather in the cap of their character models)... it looks alot less plastic and more realistic in the video.

and here's some Liara
most of these character models posted in this thread are from screen shots...not the games in motion...
check these character models out in motion.....tell me it doesn't look real...look at the guy's leg moving.
but beside that type of game.....I think most honest game developers would say Kratos from GOW3....it is one of the most detailed characters ever.

character models are actually rather ugly. The animation is beautiful though.
I think most honest game developers would say the fight night round 4 characters have some of the highest poly count, and most detailed textures combined with real time sweat and clothing physics and real time muscle flexing.... really lets just all admit fight night round 4 wins this competition.

lol that vid was pretty damn awesome, even though i think ive seen it before... i forgot about it.
but hakkai... just say fight night round 4 has the best character models... everyone knows it has terrible environments, and it can only dream of looking like crysis.
but just admit it has the best character models... just do it, it will feel good. relieve yourself of the heavy burden you bare. Its ok, we are all here for you.... warm yourself on my loving bosom.

Can't go wrong with that one.
I was also surprised to see how far they are pushing the source engine, great stuff.
ME2 charcters are using models witha differnt set of polygons,so thode in cutscenes are different than those in real time,on the technical aspect:
Crysis
Heavy Rain
Snake and Raiden,
Nathan Drake
Leon RE,
Thane and Jack
Leaving the personal fandom and art direction aside the only ones in game detailed without cinematic cheating are the MGS4 characters. And the FF characters are very detailed,it`s just the half-realisam art style that makes them unapealing to some.Photorealistic characters like the default face of man Shepard look more detailed but they are mostly not.

Actually you can modify the ME2 config file for the PC version to use the cutscene models in the game.

And do what with them?Brake combat, and gear, create clipping issues, get stuck one more time on platforms? And what is it that a console gamer should do?
I was talking about detailed models in game,Blur,Digic and WETA can always do better, thats urelated to the games or in-game disscusion.
