Uncharted looks better than KZ2 IMO, more polished.

Agreed.
Gears of War looks better.. and it's pushing on a year old now. The fog looks choppy and the face looks flattened, as well as the objects in the distance.Heith
wow a year already..
The low-res textures in that picture make the texture whore in me want to spurt out epithets.foxhound_fox
Agreed. I don't see how anyone can be very impressed by this. I must say that it has some of the best gun models I've ever seen though.

they could be a 360 fan? i admit it as a ps3 fan that im hoping this game looks and plays really really good. just to prove the ps3 can run with the big boys.

Killzone 2 has many polygons in the guns and faces, but everything else in the game is not impressive at all.
But the blur effects hide most of that stuff. Killzone 2 makes the illusion of great graphics by making things blurry (far away objects, any movement, your gun, etc) and it totally covers some of the bad texturing.
So it still looks great. Just not that great technically.

They would have to be, no PS3 games even look that good yet, sadly enough. Also, check out the guys finger clipping the trigger cover in that picture, lol.

Yeah I noticed that too
Its not very crisp like a game like Halo 3 (not saying halo 3 looks better)
they are good at making faces and gun models.they look great!the textures could be much better though, look at how low the res is on the guy's clothes.Dopemonk736
I think the faces are way over the top, so over the top that it looks bad.

Hehe, denial. Look at the characters arm and compare it to the detailed texture of the human skin in Gears of War. Also note the blocky low res textures in the distance. Also note the finger clipping the trigger guard. You are in total denial, and when KZ2 comes out, you will realise this.
It looks fine, but it's not as impressive as Heavenly Sword, Uncharted, and Mass Effect when up close in cinematics.BioShockOwnzI understand what you're saying I guess, but this isn't just some kind of cutscene. That's when you're actually playing. This is out the eyes of your guy. Though what you said was real time in cutscenes as well, this is not only that, but gameplay.
I just can't get over that SNES-looking pole in the background and massive basket weave texture on the building. For a few fleeting moments, I was impressed by the gun.
oh wow, I just looked again and the basket weave is the sky. Awful.

You do realize that KZ2 is coming out some time in 2008, don't you think you should be careful of what you say?

Same goes for Heavenly Sword, Uncharted, and Mass Effect. They all use in-game graphics and Mass Effect's is in real-time since they are mainly real-time conversations.

lol, I'm in denial. I played Gears and loved it.
But visually, Gears does not exceed Killzone. In textures, perhaps. But overall, Killzone 2's got way more going on, the environment is dynamic, the animations are much better, the motion-blur effects are more subtle and realistic, the lighting is more believable, etc.
Gears set the bar, but it doesn't stay on top forever. Killzone 2 has surpassed it. Maybe Gears 2 will surpass KZ2, but we'll have to wait and see.

Are you telling me the PS3 will never be able to produce GeOW level graphics? Btw, Uncharted looks better and so does UT and they are both on the PS3, yes UT is a multiplat, but that's not the point.

You know, I think this too honestly. I know you're a great poster as well. I can't understand why people can't see it though. I really think Killzone 2 is hands down the best overall looking console game so far. I feel so alone when I say that though, that's why it's nice to hear from someone like you that you agree with me.

Gears uses the in-game engine for cutscenes, just like Killzone 2.

I agree, and know exactly what you mean. Halo 3's graphics aren't jaw-droppingly good, but as you said it has a very... crisp feel to it. No jaggies, just nice, smooth, vibrant graphics.

There may be no CGI in Gears, but those real-time cutscenes get frame-rate chugs and LOD pop-in. Also, is it your opinion that Unreal Tournament 3 looks worse than Gears?

Yeah, the only reason I think that is because I've played Gears and I've watched Killzone 2's gameplay.

it may be hard to tell which is more visually impressive by staring at still screenshots, but based on seeing the two games in motion, there's a clear winner.
