Mine is Persona 4, the characters were very very memorable. Second is FFX because of the scenery and music, and the emotions.

FFX.
I love that game to no end. It got me hooked on RPGs in general and remains my favorite game of all-time. It makes me all warm and fuzzy just thinking about the first time I played it. Awesome, awesome game. I love Persona 4 as well. It's my 2nd favorite game of all-time and SMT is my favorite gaming franchise overall, but FFX takes the cake for sure.
Persona 3 and 4 both came out during this generation, not the last. And by "PS2 era" I assume you mean any platform during that time, so the only right answer is Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines.

Not really. It came out less than a year ago, and even sooner than that in Europe. It's a current gen game that was released on a last gen console is all. Perhaps the topic title could benefit from an edit or something.

Yup, i always make this point (in fact, i just did in a thread a minute ago). A generation is defined by a time period, not console.
Anyway its FFX. Its also the best game of all time.
I loved FFX. It was very emotional and it was the first game I really felt strong emotion to through the cinematics and story.

If you ask what the best RPG was from the PS2 era, all games from that time (2000ish to 2005) are fair game.

It honestly doesn't really matter because FFX is better than KOTR. Also I think it's a play on words because even though he said PS2 era he only listed PS2 titles which I believe means he was only talking about ps2 titles.
still dosent explain how KOTOR was part of the PS2 era when it was never released on the PS2. Ugh my head...it hurts....reaver-x
Because the PS2 era was 2000-2005. KOTOR was released during the period. That makes it part of the PS2 era (or time period) even if it wasn't on PS2.
Another example: You could say Switzerland was the luckiest European country of the WW2 era, even though it wasn't involved in WW2.
then he should change his topic titleeven though he said PS2 era he only listed PS2 titles which I believe means he was only talking about ps2 titles.

still dosent explain how KOTOR was part of the PS2 era when it was never released on the PS2. Ugh my head...it hurts....reaver-xAn era is just a time period. So, what the TC is basically asking is "what RPG that came out during the PS2's time period was the best?"
[QUOTE="reaver-x"]still dosent explain how KOTOR was part of the PS2 era when it was never released on the PS2. Ugh my head...it hurts....Danm_999Because the PS2 era was 2000-2005. PS2 era means games that were a part of that system(like FFx, and persona 3/4) how can KOTOR be a part of that if it was never released on it. if anything it should be a part of the *Xbox Era* or *PC era* b/c it was released on those platforms. Your logic is really confusing

I assumed you were trolling because you appear to be confused with very simple English.
Era:
1. a period of time marked by distinctive character, events, etc.: The use of steam for power marked the beginning of an era.
2. the period of time to which anything belongs or is to be assigned: She was born in the era of hansoms and gaslight.
3. a system of chronologic notation reckoned from a given date: The era of the Romans was based upon the time the city of Rome was founded.
4. a point of time from which succeeding years are numbered, as at the beginning of a system of chronology: Caesar died many years before our era.
5. a date or an event forming the beginning of any distinctive period: The year 1492 marks an era in world history.
'PS2 era' refers to a time period. Using the phrase in that context, the PS2 merely defines the time period, it does not define what systems can be considered. All games that fall into said time period, whether they're on PS2 or not, are in consideration.
Another example: You can say Bob Dylan was the best artist of the Beatles era, even though he wasn't a Beatle.

Jesus...reaver-xThe definition of era is the period of time to which anything belongs or is to be assigned, so you saying PS2 era basically means any games that was developed or made during that era. Anything in this case can mean Xbox titles along with any other games that was made during the time period the PS2 existed and being supported!

That would make it less confusing IMO

le sigh..
6th gen = PS2, Xbox, gamecube
PS2 is only a portion of the 6th gen so they dont really mean the same thing b/c of the other 2
i'd say FF 12, sure the storyline, characters and music weren't the best, but the gameplay was really the most satifying i played in years

Think of it like this;
RPGs released during the time the PS2 was out on the market.
As for me, the Personas. They completely snapped me out of my FF fanboy phase.
[QUOTE="shutdown_202"]D= No, it's not. lulzAnyway its FFX. Its also the best game of all time.

Sometimes its Majoras Mask and sometimes its OOT. But today its FFX since i just saw a FFX AMV and its what im thinking of at the moment.
Sorry, you just cant argue with that.

By not having the argument, we'd be going against the nature of this site.

A PS2 game is a last generation title regardless of its release. Just b/c Sony's machines tend to overlap doesn't meanlate in the generation PS2 games count towards this generation's games.
