Is halo anniversary lol which is sad because it's a 10 year old game they just dont make games like they used to this game's still more open world and less linear than most of the popular fps today like cod. Not much games have the variety of halo ce level design either.
The best fps I played was star wars republic commando.Epic squad based shooter on the original xbox which requires skill,and gave me some extra star wars knowledge.
fps are starting to get really old. Here's an idea, can we try anything else but shooting at more things in a first person perspective. Just like, one time.
RAGE is proving to be excellent so far despite the rather slow start through the first 2 areas that consisted of awful clutter, invisible walls and poorly layered levels. I just have a problem with other crap in RAGE like the menus and vehicle combat. I'd put it above other FPS ive enjoyed like Hard Reset and Bulletstorm. Combine the 3 above games though and you wouldve had something truly special.
For me it isBioshock followed by MW2 AND 3, Halo Reach or Killzone 3. However, I actually enjoyed Homefront, Wolfenstein, and Singulaity.Gaames that flew under the radar or was hammered by reviewers. The big surprises for me was the ones I did not like. The Resistence games and Rage/
I think the only 2 fps campaigns I played this year are MW3 and Resistance: FOM, and I didn't like either of them. I'll go with Portal 2. You shoot portals, obviously a shooter.
Borderlands for me, didnt play it last year, a great game although it has flaws. Certainly a better single player FPS than others I have played this year, It may be considered an RPG, but you shoot people in first person lol, so not to me.

Also they wrote 4 books on the Delta Squad and other squads of elite clones, which are awesome.

I'd classify Deus Ex as an RPG more than a pure FPS, and it's FPS mechanics aren't the strongest. it is FPS. if not pure FPS. not every FPS need to be run n gun, FPS/RPG hybrid it's more of a first person action game with RPG elements really.

On the original you could easily create a character build in which you could just use the knive and baton (and later the sword and slash and bash your way through. So it's obvious the game isn't even a real shooter. It's like an Action Adventure/RPG, the game did have a little of a lot of things, some bashing, some slashing, some shooting, some jumping, some stealth, some adventuring, some role-playing.

I'd say, single player wise, Halo: CE is the best FPS ever made. Yes, I've played Half Life 2. I can only dream Halo 4 will have the same Bungie quality.. I really want to believe. But it sounds like the covenant won't be involved (considering it takes place after Halo 3 and is based more around the Forerunners now), which sucks. I just hope we don't fight automated enemies.
Best FPS campaign I've played this year was Crysis 2's, which isn't saying much considering it wasn't all that great... and to think that the campaign was the better part of the game... ugh...
I played the original half life for the first time ever this year and I couldn't believe how good it was. Even if it was released this year it would still be revolutionary IMO. It was just so much fun and when I wasn't playing it I was thinking about it. The pacing and variety was excellent, masterful even and the gameplay situations were continually exciting and changing. Only the last boss let down the package. But it really is a timeless masterpiece. That's my fps of the year :)
Best SP FPS I´ve played this year was Hard Reset.

That was a good one, I think I'll have to go with E.Y.E. or Deus Ex:HR though. Oh yeah,those as well,though I see them more like FPS/RPG hybrids and HR being a pure shooter so it was a no brainer to me. :P

Much more than the consoles. Also, Red Orchestra 2 although that was multiplayer.

I liked it at first, but once I left the first area it started going downhill.

I liked it at first, but once I left the first area it started going downhill. Yeah, I did too, then it became so drab, dull and uninspiring the more you played it. Every place looked the same, all the enemies were the same, most of the powers were lame. It went from "okay, this is good" to "this is downright ugly."
