there was already tons of topics like this, and the general consensus was allways deus ex, thats not gonna change if you create the same topic every week
Final Fantas 6...I was so young but it actually got me to sit down for so long and I couldn't wait to play through it. I've still yet to play a game as engrossing for me.
Final Fantasy VIII was probably the first game story wise to have me hooked. I started playing it right before we left for a holiday. Decided to take the PS1 with me because of it & spent most the holiday playing it. Recently, Braid had me spending quite a lot of time trying to figure it out after finishing it. It's not really one of those games that makes you want to find out what happens next, because you don't think there is much to the story at first. It's one of those "Wait.. What?" kind of stories. I thought it was done really well.
I'm probably going to get crucified for this, but Final Fantasy XIII wasn't half bad story wise. It was just told very poorly in game. That's all I can think of off the top of my head. I have plenty of story focused games waiting to be played also.
Edit: Oh. Em. Gee. How could I forget NIER? From the very start of the game you're left with questions & it had me scratching my head. I wanted to find out what was going on. Great game.
Lots of them
Bioshock,Max Payne 1&2,RDR,Amnesia,Halo 2,Mass Effect 1&2,Alan Wake,GTA IV,Condemned 1,Heavy Rain and The Witcher.
That's off the top of my head, though.
Thefirst Shenmue. As soon as I got to the ending I borrowed the second from my friend and blew through it and then the fun was over.
This gen the first Mass Effect, or Deadly Premonition. Mass Effect I went through at a steady pace, but with Deadly Premonition I dredged through the boring first chapter over the course oftwo weeks. After the story started to pick up a bit, around chapter 2, I finished theother 4 chapterswithin the next week.
Modern Warfare 2 was by far the most engrossing, and amazing story that a video game has ever had. The Infamous no Russian mission, to where the US gets invaded, and Ghost, and all that, i mean wow, Mario games are so generic and are truly re-hashed, it's just Mario saving a Princess time after time, with upgraded graphics....not even if you compared it to MW2, and lol Zela is pretty much the same thing.
1. Majora's Mask. The game world is incredibly alive, and feels very authentic and emotional. All of the subtleties of it keeps me coming back to it to this day.
2. I would say Knights in the Nightmare, or Silent Hill Shattered Memories. Both had amazing stories told in great ways, but they were obviously very different.
Ogre battle 64, Baiten Kaidos(sp?) for the GC, i really like the brawl story too with all the CG cutscenes :P
tales of symphonia and gta4, and a little bit of the world ends with you. Three of the few games i ever finished, GTA being the game i forced myself to finish because i actually liked the characters and stories while absolutely being bored by the gameplay.
