The biggest gaming related ripoff you've ever experienced?

Full price port of a downloadable game for PS2. Which is basically Street Fighter II, with nothing added beyond a shitty waggle mini-game.

Aliens Colonial Marines

MGS V: All the 10/10 scores made me hype upped for the game but then I realized that it was a completely crappy open world game.

If Kojima was half as smart as people give credits for, at least he would have realized that just a giant empty map with day/night cycle doesn't = a true open world game.

Driv3r: a pretty awful game that didn't even managed to make car chases enjoyable.(which was supposed to be the main part of the game)

Xbox 360. Bought it back when Micro$oft were moneyhatting a number of games, got a broken POS that almost spent as much time at their repair centre than it did being played. The games quickly dried up too as Microsoft decided they wanted to rip off the Wii when that was successful, rather than ripping off the PS2 which had been their strategy up until that point.

In terms of what I've actually bought, probably Betrayal At Antara. Unplayable ugly mess.

Annual FIFA games. Every year is the same in the UK. A new full priced FIFA comes out that is hardly much improved (sometimes worse than the year before). Millions of people go out and buy it, trade in their old copies that aren't even 12 months old and second hand places like CEX have shelves filled with old FIFA's going for peanuts.

It currently goes like this at CEX (games for PS4)

FIFA 18 (£15) ($19.44)

FIFA 17 (£2.50) ($3.24)

FIFA 16 (50p) (65 cents)

FIFA 18 will drop to £8 once FIFA 19 is released on 28th September for £50. ($65) and it's basically the same game as FIFA 18 bar updated rosters and the officially licensed champions league.

The other things I see as rips offs, is what gaming has become

*Full priced digital games (amazingly costing MORE sometimes than the actual physical copies)

*Micro-transactions

*Pay to Play.

I think Destiny 2. They screwed people over in so many ways.

@Random_Matt: Yeah don't get me wrong, I think they're both great games. It just appears to me that the dlc milking is premeditated considering both titles are sequels.

I mean it's all stuff which could really have been included in the base games. Paying for background music, sprites, outfits, furniture? At least make the stuff free to download if it's not substantial or game altering. I wouldn't have a problem if they released a handful of dlcs or even a season pass, but £300 is very excessive.

Xbox One has been the worst console I ever purchased in my life. Honestly, if I never bought it, I don't think there'd have been anything I would have missed. Well, with the exception of Sunset Overdrive. But then, the abysmal performance of that game led to no sequel being made, so that only continued to add to the disappointment of that platform. It's a shame, because I really loved the 360 over the PS3, but this gen, it's been primarily PS4. Hell, My Switch's library is almost three times the size of my Xbox One's and it's only been out a year and a half!

Classes get more and more stripped down/simplified with each new expansion. If you hated the AP grind of the last expansion guess what you get to do times three. If you hated rep grinds then double down on it. The gear scaling right now is complete garbage with the NPC scaling.

Pandaria was the last good expansion IMO. The art and sound design is one of the few areas that are still good.

Destiny

I've got two.

1. Two Worlds. I had about got burned out on ES Oblivion, but wanted something similar. Saw Two Worlds at the store and snatched it up. I probably played 10 mins before I took it back for a refund.

2. Mercenaries world in flames or whatever. Hyped my buddy up on this game. Preordered it. My buddy couldn't afford it at the time, but was hyped. We went to gamestop and picked it up. Got home and started playing it. After about 15 mins of me playing with both of us in utter silence, he says "I think you just lost $50 bro." I said "yep", turned it off, and we left to go do something else. Lol

For me it is Ps4 Pro/X1X. The pro is ridiculously loud (my regular Ps4 was quiet stored in the same spot), I only play Killer Instinct on X1X (what else it there?), Also I cannot really see the visual upgrades on either because my eyes are not very good. (obviously not Sony's/MS fault). I should have just stuck with the base versions of these systems it would have been the same thing for me, and saved me a ton of money. (I always want the new shiny thing, sure wish I could cut that crap out lol)

For me it's a tie between the PS4 pro (not worth the extra cost over the base ps4 imo) and the ridiculous prices Nvida has been charging for graphics cards during the cryptomining explosion.

Halo 2...The game literally convinced me to buy a PS2 and stop being a xbox fanboy.

Destiny. Half completed game with overpriced half completed dlc which removes options for people who don't buy the dlc. Game was a legit ripoff and the reason I won't buy their games anymore.

Gears of war 4 season pass/ultimate edition. Its the reason i will never get a season pass or DLC unless its on sale for 50% or more.
