[QUOTE="Pikminmaniac"][QUOTE="DataUsageLimit"] Most new Ips SEQUELS yes. You need to name some backup for this claim. What's Assasins Creed 1 a rehash of? how is it not fresher than Mario in Spae background and Mario in space background with expansion pack 2 using old gravity idea already used just with a different controller and then not even using the controller for what it is then just substituting button presses?DataUsageLimit
Compare Super Metroid to Metroid Prime to Metroid Other M. That series has reinvented itself and produced several unique games
Compare Mario World to Mario 64 to Mario Galaxy. Again, the series has constantly reinvented itself and both Galaxy games have produced an unimaginable amount of copletely original and outstandingly creative levels (especially true in Galaxy 2)
Compare A Link to the Past to Ocarina of Time to Majora's Mask to Wind Waker to Phantom Hourglass to Skyward Sword. Zelda has a large number of very unique experiences
Also, in general, nintendo has a very high level of creativity present in their level designs in general.
Then you have Microsoft with
Halo 1,2,3,4
Gears 1,2,3,Judgment
Sony with
God of war 1,2,3,Ascension
Ratchet and Clank 1,2,3,4,5
Uncharted 1,2,3
Resistance 1,2,3
Killzone 2,3
Sequels differ very little and I'm not of the opinion that any of those new IPs are all that original to begin with (with the exception of Ratchet and Clank and Gears)
don't get me wrong, I enjoy many of these games. They just lack the level of creativity and originality I find with Nintendo is all
Super MEtroid to MEtroid Prime was almost 2 gens of nothing, bad example. Mario 64 to Mario Galaxy while ignoring all the games inbetween? Damage control. OOT and MM and WW and TP were ecensially the same game as ALTTP, LA, OoA and Oos. Also now we switched to sequels instead of new Ips making me correct in the first place. Also you forgot the part where I said not all games, but still failed with your examples. I understand you like nintendo, and Pikmin is one of those few franchises that is not rehashed, well we will wait until 3, but really? unique level design is all in your head, its all in all nintendo fans nostalgic heads like the people that keep buying killzone, it's porr, but you like it, so you won't look at it objectively.I listed both sequels and new IPs from other companies that lack originality.
Also, how can you lump Majora's mask of all games with the rest of its series. That game is one of the most unique ideas I've seen in a game. The three day cycle was perfectly exicuted and completely unique. No other game has done it before or since and the entire game revolved around it.
You're right, I missed a Mario game in between Mario 64 and Galaxy. It's called sunshine and it also played quite differently than any other game in its own franchise... Or anything else really.
Metroid Prime may have happened many years after Super Metroid, but how does that discount its impact on the industry? Then there's still Other M which, while perhaps not very good in comparison to the rest of the series, was definitely unique.
Then there are franchises from nintendo that might as well have been new IPs, but were placed under an existing franchise like Kid Icarus Uprising and Kirby's Epic Yarn. Uprising being another one of a kind experience.
