Skyrim is a great game.

[QUOTE="Pikminmaniac"][QUOTE="DataUsageLimit"] Super MEtroid to MEtroid Prime was almost 2 gens of nothing, bad example. Mario 64 to Mario Galaxy while ignoring all the games inbetween? Damage control. OOT and MM and WW and TP were ecensially the same game as ALTTP, LA, OoA and Oos. Also now we switched to sequels instead of new Ips making me correct in the first place. Also you forgot the part where I said not all games, but still failed with your examples. I understand you like nintendo, and Pikmin is one of those few franchises that is not rehashed, well we will wait until 3, but really? unique level design is all in your head, its all in all nintendo fans nostalgic heads like the people that keep buying killzone, it's porr, but you like it, so you won't look at it objectively.DataUsageLimit
I listed both sequels and new IPs from other companies that lack originality.
Also, how can you lump Majora's mask of all games with the rest of its series. That game is one of the most unique ideas I've seen in a game. The three day cycle was perfectly exicuted and completely unique. No other game has done it before or since and the entire game revolved around it.
You're right, I missed a Mario game in between Mario 64 and Galaxy. It's called sunshine and it also played quite differently than any other game in its own franchise... Or anything else really.
Metroid Prime may have happened many years after Super Metroid, but how does that discount its impact on the industry? Then there's still Other M which, while perhaps not very good in comparison to the rest of the series, was definitely unique.
Then there are franchises from nintendo that might as well have been new IPs, but were placed under an existing franchise like Kid Icarus Uprising and Kirby's Epic Yarn. Uprising being another one of a kind experience.
MM is the SAME GAME WITH REHASHED TEXTURES, REHASHED DESIGN, and REHASHED CHARACTER MODELS. Are you seriously saying that putting a 3 day time limit makes the game new? When the entire game is reshaped to fit this radically innovative and unique idea, yes, Absolutely without a doubt. Perhaps you haven't played it. You should, it's a one of a kind experience.

Nope. Average shooting mechanics with zero variation in gameplay keep it from being the best. It has some nice set pieces and production values and does of good job of taking the player on a well paced adventure but the gameplay is not strong enough to warrant it best of this gen. It would definitely be in the Top 10, maybe veen Top 5, but definitely not #1.

More projected-desires then rooted in facts.... but such is SW.

This!
It may have great graphics for console standards and high production values, but the combat is very dull and floaty, lacking any weight. Ironically, I find UC to be one of the best examples of that consolite saying, great graphics don't make a great game...

The platforming and controlled pacing can be annoying, but I liked the shooting sections. It's definitely much better than Uncharted 3 which became more derived, in my opinion. It felt like it just took everything from 2 and just tweaked it in little ways which may be why I found it less refreshing. I just hope Naughty Dog does what they always do and stop making more in the series after the 3rd game + a Kart racer.
Uncharted 2 had a train, Uncharted 3 has a ship and plane. Elena drives you next to the train to jump on it, Elena drives you next to the plane to jump on it. Uncharted 2 has the tundra, Uncharted 3 has the desert. Uncharted 2 has a lost city, Uncharted 3 has a lost city. Uncharted 2 has you running from the crumbling lost city, Uncharted 3 has you running from the crumbling lost city. Infiltrate enemy base, infiltrate another enemy base. etc. etc. etc.
Not to mention the whole series is basically Indiana Jones to the T. It's fun to see games blatantly take from movies so much. Metroid did the same with the entire Alien series.
This isn't to say I hated the Uncharted series. I gave the first an 8.5, the second a 9.5, and the 3rd an 8.0. But they do have their drawbacks. Playing them each 3 times, I've found some pacing issues and other complaints. That I didn't really care about my first time through.
PS3 sucks because it hasn't got Halo on it
or Xbox 360 sucks because Ratchet & Clank aren't on it.
So what if it hasn't got a certain game on it? That doesn't mean the console itself is bad, I've mainly used Sony for gaming products and such and yes a few of my favourite games are exclusives but I've played on an Xbox 360 on numerous occasionsand I think they're great!

When people refer to a game or a series that averages 7.0s in reviews is complete garbage. That's the single biggest exaggeration I've seen. Followed closely is when there is a very high quality game on a different platform and people say it's absolutely terrible. PC gamers are the worst at the latter.
Ly_the_Fairy
PC gamers like me?
Its ok Ly, you dont need to pay attention to peasants..
People on the internet just seem to over exaggerate things in general.
On SW I don't see how people can claim to see a difference in multiplats, I just look at these people and think to myself "umm....are they seeing the same thing I'm seeing? WTF are they talking about"? Also people overexaggerate "dooms day" stuff, like "Sony is going out of business" and that other nonsense.
I also find people overexaggerate the hatred for motion controls, they can actually be fun sometimes guys, sure they arn't the best games by any means but I admit I have had some fun with Kinect a bit. Oh and people seem to care WAY too much about sales on here.
Dark Souls has incredible, subtle story telling.FastEddie2121Is that your "Biggest over exaggeration gamers say" post, or is this statement your opinion about the game?
Because it's true, Dark Souls has incredible, subtle story telling.
Multiplats are superior on Xbox360 over PS3.What does this even mean.....a few fps here,a few pixels there.I've played all my multiplats on PS3 this gen and every one has been great. You can count on one hand the number of genuinely worse multiplats on PS3.It is a massive exaggeration and a complete joke.
PC is $1000 better, but in reality it plays the same.
Mr_BillGates
When people imply consoles shouldn't be used exclusivly as doorjams.
Most Bethesda games (Fallout, Skyrim, etc.) Bayonetta The Orange Box There have been some pretty bad PS3 versions for multiplats which is unacceptable, seeing as devs had quite awhile to work with the technology.Multiplats are superior on Xbox360 over PS3.What does this even mean.....a few fps here,a few pixels there.I've played all my multiplats on PS3 this gen and every one has been great. You can count on one hand the number of genuinely worse multiplats on PS3.It is a massive exaggeration and a complete joke.

But those are very rare, the vast majority of games work fine and all the bad one's got patched anyway and are perfectly fine now. It comes down to devs. I think Sony should hold their feet more to the fire, set up a standard that no game is allowed to be released on PS3 in bad condition, if it is then there should be huge consequences for that developer.

Agree with this. It's fine if somebody doesn't want to play motion controls, but the hatred that they get is dumb.

1. It almost seems like anytime Nintendo F*ck's up and makes a mistake some people make it out to be some diabolical plot by Nintendo to backstab all hardcore gamers, as opposed to just viewing it as a f*ck up on their part. Maybe this is just me.

5. Probably alot of things said in PC vs. console discussions. Yes, PC graphics are much better than console graphics, but that doesn't make console graphics bad by any means, it just means that PC graphics are much better.
6. "*insert system here* is DOOMED!"

PC gamers in general. I see a lot of "Halo is a terrible series" or "CoD is a terrible series" by mostly PC gamers (and usually hardcore Killzone fanboys).
It's one thing to not like something, it's another to dismiss quality. Hate it all you want. but each year CoD comes out with a game with a lot of brand new and very polished content. Even if it's just the same as CoD 4, that's not bad since CoD was praised so much.
Sometimes watching PC gamers debate against console gamers, or even weigh their opinions on console gamers, makes me ashamed to own a PC. People take it so seriously it's not even funny. Though I've seen a lot of pretty hardcore console gamers who also need to relax.

How are the bolded statements exaggerations? They are just opinions whereas the first two are indeed exaggerations.
This is what your bolded items would look more like if they were exaggerations:
-PC gaming makes console gaming look primitive.
-Console gaming is better because it costs 10,000$ do buy a good gaming PC.
-MGS4 is one of the worst games on PS3.
-Blizzard, Bioware, and Bethesda make incredibly low quality games.
Etc. Etc.

Honestly this is just scratching some of the surface of the story in Dark Souls. Dark Souls subtly is amazing. You find something new in every playthrough. The game is full of deception too, and false narratives. You really have to search for the truth. The game makes you feel like an archeologist. Discovering new architecture makes you question what it's doing there, what's the history behind it. There are beautiful sights to see that compliment the story, such as Lordran being built ontop of Archtrees. Ash Lake is just one of the many locations that really tie the world and story together.

Those are just trolls. There are a ton of PC gamers here who rarely participate in discussions like that. Trolls just happen to be very loud, and in everybody's face.
