It's what im waiting for, iv always wanted a PS3, but right now it's just not worth geting it. As soon as that price drop hit and the main games are outthere is no question that I will be picking up a PS3, and alot of my freinds feel the same way.

In the UK most PS3 bundles cost from £480 uo to £560 which is a stupid ammount.

My 360 with games came to £400 on launch day.  And i thought that was expsnive.

You're kidding right...the average inflation since the beginning of the 90s has been like 3% a year.  So assuming maximum inflation, that is 18% inflation from the release of the PS2 to the release of PS3.  That means the PS2 cost about $354 US when it was released in terms of 2006 Dollars. Thats a far cry from $500 or $600.

As to the thread topic.  IMO you greatly overestimate the mass market appeal of the PS3.

Yeah, actually it does.  If M rated games made up the majority of game purchases, the majority of game releases would then be targeted for an M rating so as to maximize profit.  The reality is that E rated games make up the majority of game purchases and that the majority of game releases are targeted for an E rating so as to maximize profit. 

I've been hearing the "just wait" argument for almost three years now.

The first time was, "wait until the PS3 comes out, it's gonna pwn the 360 with it's amazing graphix, awsome power, and exclusive AAA titles! Killzone 2 FTW!".

Wow! Thats some misinformation. Blue laser diodes were NEVER $125. Initial analysis of the PS3 stated that the cost of the ENTIRE blu-ray DRIVE was $125. The drop in price of the diode might only be a matter of a few dollars, and may not entail a pricecut anytime soon.

X360 is only accepted by previous Xbox owners and the typical Halo fans. Otherwise, PS3 is where it's at. Get real.

If that statement is true, then there are about 10 million Halo fans/Xbox owners and the PS3 is at the land of overpriced consoles which consist mainly of bad exclusives (except for two, and I'm being generous) and tons of multiplatform ports.

So are the Wii and the 360.

The franchises old and new are still coming in and are coming later this year or the next.

Yeah, people are waiting on the PS3, just like they're waiting on the Wii. There's a difference though.
People waiting for the PS3 are waiting until 2008 or 2009.
People waiting for the Wii are waiting for the next shipment to hit shelves next Sunday.

While I have to agree with you that millions are waiting, the question is, how long are they willing to wait? Why wait for a $50 price drop, when you could just go and get a 360 now. Most people are not patient, and they dont want to wait to play video games. 

You nailed it and when the 360 has it's first price cut everyone that was waiting for either due to price will go out in mass to get it. The library will be huge by then and it will still be cheaper than the ps3. Consumers will wait for a price cut, but the company that will benefit will be MS and Nintendo since both will be in that under 250 range while the ps3 will be at the cheapest $400.
