Amazing. Just add the Balance Board and you have a completely interactive experience. I REALLY REALLY hope something comes out of this. I've not been this excited since the Wiimote was first shown!

This is absolutley amazing.

The virtual reality experience you've always dreamed of for the price of the VR glasses, which would cost between 20 to 40 bucks

genius... genius... GENIUS

geniusshawnc

That is pretty coo. I'll bet money that Nintendo has already contacted this guy. If not, some developers have already contacted him. If Nintendo does a Wii Sports 2, then should use this guys software. Imagine what the boxing game would be like. I can wait to see this technology used in a Wii game.

Well, he was running this demo off of a PC. In theory it could be implemented on the Wii HW as well though.

I'm not sure, but as I was thinking that you'd need 2 sensor bars, I realised that you just need the glasses for the VR and the proper sensor bar for shooting etc. I can't believe all the sensor bar is is 2 light sources.

Konami created Mocap Boxing, two Police 24/7 games in 2001 and Mocap Golf in 2002. I enjoyed them immensely but did they matter to the gaming crowd? Six years later motion tracking is all hip huh?

For consoles there're low-cost, 3rd party cameras doing this without the need of mounted gears already.

Virtual reality wouldn't matter if the graphics still look like crap.

*Sigh* The Wii would have so much potential if Nintendo wasnt so cheap.

Nintendo's not cheap, the consumer is. Had they bumped up the power it would have cost more and it wouldn't be selling as well as it is now.

nintendo is going to pump out a new console with this technology built in before the other 2 release their next. it will have much better graphics and be made to appeal to the hardcore gamer. they can let the wii continue to sell to the casuals like the ps2 is now, the casuals wont care. we will all get to play with an upgraded amazing version of the wii.

....in my dreams

That's what tends to happen. The analog stick, for example, was found on gamer hardware as earily as the eighties, but it took the N64 to make them popular.

How come the PS3 and the 360 don't have this if they are so overly powerful and "next-gen" by the way?Hexagon_777

WIi doesn't have it. It's still PC with plugged Wii controlers. And you could do it with PS3 (and propably 360), all you need is a webcam compatibile with console.

Well it seems that everybody is starting to admit that Nintendo may have been right all along? Because Nintendo is the one that this new technology is being made for. They may not have invented motion control, but they were the first with balls big enough to bulid a mass market home console based around it. Represent.

Nah..to me it's once again another sheep syndrome. Something is rehashed for Nintendo console and suddenly sheep act like it's innovative. "It's not innovative untill Nintendo does it" is sheep mantra it seems. Except in this case they don't even have thisargument, because it's still some guy playing in his pc with diffrent hardware.

None, hence why they should play on PC. Instead of hoping Nintendo might do something similiar in 10 years or so :)

Let's get serious here for a second bub... PC gaming will never hit the mass market like console gaming does... people want to go where its socially acceptable to game.

Or maybe that's where this conversation ends... There's not really much left to say and now I just want to play the damn games.

The first publisher to take this on will make millions...

god speed.

Couldnt have said it better myself.

I will hate Nintendo forever if they don't pursue this...

but some third party publisher out there will be smart enough to jump on making these kinds of games for the Wii even if Nintendo doesn't.

I love to quote myself... considering my posts actually make sense and they're not the delusions of fanboys who are suffering the trauma of having a losing platform. Stop being such a fanboy and wake up. You sit there pounding your chest that Nintendo is going to release Virtual Reality in 10 years like you want to wait or something... I want Virtual Reality right now in my home and not on my PC.and quite frankly. your beginning to embarass yourself.

if you want it right now why the exctiement? It's just a fan project. Even if Nintend would decide to follow it you won't see it implemented till Wii2. You're just delusional fanboy, you have the tech on PC right now, working in games and yet you downplay it and pound your chest over something that has slight chance of ever happening on Wii in actual games.

Oh well... have fun keeping the hope alive and waiting endlessly

Considering Nintendo's "speed of technical advamcements" when sheep will finally get their own TrackIR rip-off PCgamers will already have fully functional interfaced with brain virtual reality :D

Nintendo had the guts to jump into the console market with motion controls, and buddy, between you and me, you're ignoring the fact that any third party publishers (you know those guys you worship when they make a good game for your desired platform) could jump in at ANY given time (as the technology is dirt cheap to implement) and make MILLIONS because of it. Look at how much interest this topic has inspired? Do you think publishers dont want to jump all over cheap, genius, inspiring ideas that could potentially make them millions.

The almighty buck is on my side of the argument. You lose.

I watched the Youtube video of this demonstration I posted reachover a hundred thousand views in mere hours.Pretty damn good for a realtive unknown. Nintendo will win this console war, but the first company who hires this guy will win the next.

[QUOTE="geniusshawnc"] You sit there pounding your chest that Nintendo is going to release Virtual Reality in 10 years like you want to wait or something... I want Virtual Reality right now in my homeand not on my PC.and quite frankly. your beginning to embarass yourself. geniusshawnc

if you want it right now why the exctiement?

You lose.

Sorry, third party accessories always flop on consoles.

Oh...well.. you're jut naive. I wouldn't want to be there when all your hopes with come down crashing and burning

Not to mention of course that this tech, while nice.. isn't VR by any means.

 What kind of entity are you exactly? Do you get some kind of enjoyment out of negativity towards cool looking technology?

This tech... by the way, has impressed the overwhelming majority in this thread (It's a fact... it's written) and it looks awesome as hell, third parties will line up in droves sooner or later, the console war has just begun (and yet its already over in terms of the outcome)... and for future reference,I don't care to dispute these nonsensical claims about this technology, I'm just glad that Nintendo is going to have the best crack at it...

so once again, you're in the vocal minority here bud ;)

That was suprisingly awesome.. just I can't see the Wii ever making use of it.. because wearing a bar on your head would be a lil odd.
