You play one, you've played them all.

as long as they sell they won't change.
kinda tough for me to call out devs when all they are trying to do is supply a demand.
I see the resemblance between COD and Medal of Honor but why is Killzone 3 there?FIipMode
...It did take me a second to realise which was KZ3. :P

Check the gun and the depressingly-drab brown and grey colour palette used.
Honestly I think that pic displays the lack of imagination in maintstream shooters nowadays very well.

Yes, a lot of guns have holographic sights, I hear they are useful.Give Singularity a try. No, it does not have the same big budget level of polish, but it is definitely doing something right on the gameplay front. While not entirely innovative, the TMD, with it's time manipulation and Gravity gun-like qualities makes for some really interesting gameplay and puzzles. Some of the weapons are quite different than your standard fare as well. Not to mention all of the upgrades you can acquire.
The current state of FPS games:
All of them contain at least one gun with that kind of sighting and they all use the blood dripping effect to indicate damage.
What does this have to do with the actual games, again?
I know it's fun for some folks to poke fun at shooters in general, but let's be honest, these shooters don't play the same. The pic same to poke fun at the simple fact all three have similar gun model, well it makes sense in MW2 and MOH's case, but it makes no sensefor a shooterthat takes place in the future to have a similar gun model as the other two. *cough* Killzone 3 *cough*
And once again Bad Company 2 is left out of the trio.
but it makes no sensefor a shooterthat takes place in the future to have a similar gun model as the other two. *cough* Killzone 3 *cough*

It's pretty badass, but it isn't as badass as most of the weapons of Gears of War and especially Unreal Tornament Series.

Different artstyles. And I prefer hard sci-fi over unrealistic fantasy from GeoW and UT. KZ2 gun models are incredible. But that's just an opinion.
People are sick of this pic becaue they know it's true.

No, we're sick of it because it's not an actual argument. It's the introduction to a humor article which MAKES an argument about the state of the games industry, but the picture in and of itself is not a relevant point and posting it does not make you clever.
As muchof the same as Super Mario Galaxy is to Ratchet and Clank Series, BanjoKazooieSeries, Spyro Series, Crash Bandicoot Series, etc.and in the same sense as Street FighterSeries is to King of Fighters Series, Garuo Series, Capcom vs. Series, etc.; you get the point.People are sick of this pic becaue they know it's true. You can even throw more FPS on that list like Bad Company and Crysis. All of these games are different, but are essentially the same game.

Yes, but those are genre's that are rare. Carbon copy FPS's is the majority of the big games this gen. It's just as bad as it was in the NES/SNES era where everything was a 2D sidescroller.

Why would you consider KZ2 hard sci fi and not the other two? All 3 have that gritty feel to them so artstyle isn't too out there.Ok we get shooters are going no where. How many times must I see this image?
Edit: And I dont think a similar weapon design warrants KZ2 being there

It's a valid argument because it goes much deeper than presentation. People are just looking at this at its cover and not bothering to think about the message. All of these games are warfare, all in first person, all have mostly the same weapons, all have modern to high modern tech, all have the exact same controls, all have the same damage system and hud, all have the same AI, all have the same mission structure, all have the same visual style, all have online multi-player with all v all and team deathmatch...
These three games are not the whole list either. Just about every single shooter this whole gen fits this description. This gen has been dominated by developers making one game, and only one game, over and over and over. Thank god for bioware and nintendo this gen.
