Sign me up !! :D Actually I already signed up because this baby is bought and payed for and only awaiting Jan 5th to see if all my anticipation for this title has been worth it.

Anyway, take a read and see what ya think.

The last couple paragraphs as a taste.

The Story - A hands on.

'Darksiders' Screenshot 1

Enemy designs are great throughout. Everything is itching to be rendered in Hasbro plastic.

'Darksiders' Screenshot 2

The finisher button glows red over downed enemies, tempting you into some lovingly animated brutality.

And while the ever-enlarging hub of post-apocalyptic American city can initially seem a little unwieldy to get around, as soon as Ruin, your hellish horse, makes an appearance, the game shifts up a gear, flinging monsters at you on a different scale, while you race through the game's slalom of overworld missions and bigger, chunkier dungeons, which will be familiar to anyone who's ever strolled through Hyrule, even before the game starts dropping a series of very familiar items into your lap. It's homage, certainly - actually, at times, it's clearly total theft - but it's all carried off with such boundless energy that it's hard to begrudge the game its own lovingly-referenced influences.

In between the action there's a few pieces of plot now and then - the apocalypse has been triggered early and it's all a bit of a fit-up job by the looks of it - but that's for the handful who will want to read the inevitable comic book series.

And in the long run, that's perhaps the best way of summing up how Darksiders is looking at the moment: it's exactly the kind of game that would be well-suited to glossy high-action layouts and pithy, speech bubble dialogue. If that's what you're after - even if it's just for a guilty pleasure - Vigil Games may have rustled up just want you need.

I don't know Some times it looks decent, other times I think it looks kind of boring. Will wait for reviews to see IF i want to try this. Bayonetta and Mass Effect 2 get first priority in january.

Here the thing the game looks good and I would like to play it. I do not want to see Zelda ever go that route though. I like Zelda the way it is.

Argh, can't wait. People compare it to GOW 3, when it's more a copy of Zelda, which IMO is not a bad thing! We need more polished adventure games, and so far Darksiders has gotten alot of positive previews, and even a 10/10 review.

agreed it would lose some it's spirit if it went too griddy and dark. IT could use some refreshing though...just without bastardizing the whole soul and charm of Zelda games.

I couldn't agree more - I would never want the real Zelda to become dark I assure you. :)

That's the thing. It has it's own unique look to it, but it's the overall structure of the game that is Zelda-like: hub-world, dungeons, dungeon items, big boss battles, secrets and exploration, you ride a horse, you get a helper with you etc.

Bioware had the foundation layed in M.E. and my thought is that M.E. 2 will fill in and or fix many things the first failed a bit on so if that's the case then finally, KOTOR falls to second in my view of the top RPG ever, heck top game ever for me.

I don't see Zelda in this game. I see Fable. In a post apocalyptic setting that looks nothing like Zelda and is not appealing.

Reading through the hands on may enlighten you on all the ways this game borrows from Zelda - minus doing that; I can see why you may be thinking what you think. :P

Why are sheeps pushing that issue about Darksiders as a Zelda-like game, despite the fact that they share nothing in common save for the genre they both happen to be in? Seriously there's been 3-4 topics on this already.

I can think of at least a dozen more titles that this game bears more resemblance to than Zelda.

The art style reminds me of Blizzard's work....which I'm not very fond of besides StarCraft(although StarCraft's designs seemed to have borrowed heavily from Warhammer 40,000)

Man, this game looks sooo freaking amazing. Sooo much variety in this soon to be gem. Flying sections, horse ridin', portal gameplay, big ass guns gameplay, and it goes on and on. Add all this to the normal sword and gun combat that is the main entree here. Then add in all the Zelda-like exploration, puzzles, and bosses. Oh yeah, do want.

It does have alot of resemblance to Zelda and I said what it was in this topic.

You didn't provide a link. Also, listing things that are common among all action adventure titles doesn't really make a good case.

Gameplay: Plays more like God of War from the looks of it.

Story: A more serious setting based loosely on mythology, as opposed to a more light-hearted atmosphere in Zelda.

Graphics: This one's pretty obvious.

That the game design is much closer to Zelda than GoW is a fact. He doesn't need to post a link. No offense, but do some research.

So when does Kratos have his own horse to ride around? If so, GoWIII will be like teh greatest game EVAR!

That logic doesn't quite pan out. I saw screens on Mirror's Edge with a gun. Mirror's Edge is an FPS. I've seen screens of GoW showing Kratos climbing, so therefore it's a parkour/platformer game.

A screen doesn't mean jack. There are videos you can seek on the internet of Darksiders that shows Zelda exploration. And it's a fact you ride through the open world structure on a horse, hence being a horseman of the apocalypse. And Vigil said you will gain new abilites later on that allow access to places you came in contact with earlier on in the game.

I use facts, not a screen.

And of course they show more video of the action because action is easier to appreciate through a video than exploration. Try actually reading a preview, even if it's not a 1000 words.

I'm actually getting more of a "Metroidvania" vibe, than I am Zelda.

[QUOTE="SecretPolice"][QUOTE="Cyberfairy"]Argh, can't wait. People compare it to GOW 3, when it's more a copy of Zelda, which IMO is not a bad thing! We need more polished adventure games, and so far Darksiders has gotten alot of positive previews, and even a 10/10 review.Hexagon_777

The game wasn't really even on my radar until your thread some time ago so I give you credit for turning me on to this game. :) Or the blame if it's a dud. :P j/k

See, Cyberfairy? We are making people aware of this game after all! At least you are so far. :P

hehe :D
