Is it the one when everything goes back in time? Yeah I liked it, but to be frank, I've seen stuff like that too many times already--mostly in music videos.
I hate to be the uncool guy, but seeing a setting about zombies doesn't help either. I have nothing against zombies, hell, I like a lot of works that are centered around that kind of setting; but for me to consider a trailer as one of the best ever, there has to be something else there that makes me think a little beyond the boundaries set by numerous other works. Zombies have been done to death already.

This is why people say this stuff. Sure you have seen it before in music videos or movies and stuff. But never anything this artistic in a videogame trailer. They usually just show pieces of gameplay or stuff like that and hype up the game a lot. But this is extremely effective and any director will tell you the same. Its a very smart trailer. But now I am curious to hear what is the best game trailer in your opinion?
I don't have one, simple as that.
But I have seen trailers that have actually made me much more interested in the product than this one did, and the numbers are too many to name. Some of them, if not most, showed some gameplay at one point or another.
I agree with laus_basic for instance, I actually would prefer the trailers by the new Deus Ex.

Or hell, even at the risk of being made fun of, this:

And I chose this example as a means to demonstrate how much a trailer based on gameplay alone can interest me more and it did. The first time I saw the Mario Galaxy trailers the game looked genuinely fun, packed with excelent level design.
There is no wrong or right answer here, you talk about its artistic value, I saw little in it in my eyes and have seen this technique used quite a few times before to a point where the trailer held less interest for me, plus the setting. I'm sure some people would downright laugh at me for me picking something such as the Mario Galaxy trailers over something like this trailer, and they're more than entitled to it, in fact I can definitely see why people would think this, just not me and I have my reasons--pretty much stated above.
And sorry guys, it seems like I pretty much hijacked the thread and made its tone a little negative. But there you have it seanmcloughlin, my take on it.
