The deluded notion,that Sony needs to meet MS at $299.

I have see what basically is a surge in the number of people who actually believe that sony needs to match the xbox Series S price,which quite frankly is a totally moronic notion.

Expecting the PS5 to be $299 would be the equivalent of expecting Nvidia to release a 1070 for the price of a 1050ti,this is simple impossible and unrealistic and is an argument that is simply put based on blind bias against sony.

PS5 specs

• CPU: AMD Zen 2-based CPU with 8 cores at 3.5GHz (variable frequency)
• GPU: 10.28 TFLOPs, 36 CUs at 2.23GHz (variable frequency)
• GPU architecture: Custom RDNA 2.
• Memory interface: 16GB GDDR6 / 256-bit.
• Memory bandwidth: 448GB/s.
• Internal storage: Custom 825GB SSD.

One of this machine is greatly inferior GPU wise to the tune of 150%,which is quite a staggering gap,on a forum were almost 99% of the lemmings and even some fake hermits,consider a 21% gap in Tflops give or take actually means the xbox series X will destroy the PS5.

Several have made the argument of the PS5 sucking for ray tracing,while now making a damn argument about ray tracing for the 150% weaker series S.

But to continue the PS5 has more ram and well with much higher bandwidth.

It also has a bigger ssd that is much faster.

The only thing the Series S has is 100mhz faster CPU which would not amount to shit on xbox Series X which is more power than the PS5 let alone on series X with a much weaker GPU.

The PS5 was say to cost about $450 to make,the digital version should be even lower,so sony taking a hit of $50 dollars means totally NOTHING to them,if the PS5 really cost around $450 to make they can very well sell it for $400,but worse they can price the cheaper to manufacture digital version under $399.

The whole $500 selling more is based on nothing but blind bias against sony,and pretty much wishful thinking,sony has loss money on pretty much every PS at launch,to the extreme with the PS3 by the way.

MS is say to be losing more on the series S than on the Series X by rumors going around in resetera.

So if sony goes for $450 it may do so to loss as little as possible or break even,if they go $500 is to make a profit which is totally unheard of on the PS history,and if they go $400 yeah they may be willing to eat a small loss,remember this loses are not for ever they are first year or so.

So please lemming stop owning your self defending the series S and trying to make seen like sony has to match MS they don't have to.

The digital edition will probably be 399 and can see Sony undercutting with a 449 system.

Probably those who claim MS will undercut Sony with the Series S. You can't undercut the competition if your product is also slightly inferior to the competition.

For example, Sony undercut MS with the PS4 because the PS4 had a small edge and was a whole $100 cheaper. And when they dropped kinect, the Xbox One was still the same price as the PS4 while being weaker.

This time around, the PS5 will have a larger and faster SSD and a more capable GPU than the Series S. It's a class below it and is priced appropriately. Undercutting Sony would mean that the PS5 has to be priced the same or more like the Series X as they're closer in specs than the PS5 and Series S.

This thing is made to compete with the switch, so soccer mom buys it on christmas, since its cheap and dont know much about specs themselves.

I dont believe PS5 needs to match Series S, it certainly would be great if its cheap as possible to make it a no brainier for the likes of me who wants to build a PC also.

PlayStation is a better console, they have a bigger market share, they have a lot more and better exclusives.

I have a Xbox One original. For a while it was better early in the gen when they had GOW 4, Forza Horizon 2, Sunset Overdrive and Titanfall. Then the PS4 completely took over.

Xbox is a good solid console. However its a totally pointless console. It's just the second best PlayStation. For all of Nintendo's faults at least they are unique and pump out great exclusives as well as being extremely creative. That's why Nintendo can come back after a disaster like the WiiU.

If Sony sell the ps5 D at 450, that's a 150 buck difference to the series S....or 50% more expensive. There hasn't been that much of a gap since PS3's disastrous launch.

Then they'd sell the ps5 proper at 499? Again...wouldn't most people just pay 50 bucks more and be able to use their PS4 discs, Blu-ray's etc?

The Series S is a less capable machine with less storage space. It's not on par with the Series S. Even at $450, it's still worth it compared to the S spec wise.

Nevertheless, a 450 dollar console that can't play someone's physical ps4 discs is a steep price in these times, and I shouldn't blame someone who looks at a series s including hundreds of games via gamepass, xcloud and ea play for 25 bucks a month as an alternative.

Not too many had the series S down at 299, and although I'll go for a xsx, I can definitely see the appeal for someone who just wants to play games and has no idea what 1440p means.

That depends for example if the gap in price is small most people will actually go for the premium,example most 360 owners were premium not core but the gap there was $100,the gap now on series X is $200 so its much bigger,but the PS5 one may be just $100 or even less so most people will probably go for the premium.

In the 360 case the specs were the same,what change was the wired controller and no HDD.
