The Dreamcast came out in the 90s and had online multiplayer superior to that of what Nintendo can offer.
Dreamcast Online allowed people to chat with each other, had no friend codes, and you could play MMO's on it.
I think if Sega added a DVD player to the Dreamcast from the start, it would be Nintendo who would be making 3rd parties for other platforms which wouldn't be a bad thing since Nintendo games would have stepped into the NEXT gen a long time ago.

What are these MMO's the Dreamcast had?
And clearly you have no idea what you are talking about if you think the was the lack of a DVD player that put Sega out of the hardware game. It was a combination of things, such as Sega of America and Sega of Japan failing to communicate. When the Saturn was released in America, Sega of Japan has already had plans for the Dreamcast to come out. When Sega brought out Neptune (Mega Drive/Genesis and 32X console in one console) gamers already knew the Saturn was coming out soon and so no one bought it.
Well the only mmo they had was phantasy star onlineThat's not an mmo, sure it had a lobby were a large number could gather and organize a group but at most, you could only play the game with three others. That doesn't sound very MMO like now does it.
[QUOTE="awakeningland"][QUOTE="burgeg"]Street Racer SNES>>>Street Racer Mega Drive. FACT. Comparing games that scored 4.0 lol. It was a good game at the time. But it exposed the two systems capabilities nicely. Why does this come as a surprise? Sega were always better than Nintendo.

It was an mmoFunny I'm positive I had an easier time playing PSO on my GC then I did on my DC. Monster Hunter Tri also very easy to deal with, Mario Kart Wii same deal easy. SSBB, massive fail though.
If PSO was an MMO, so is Diablo 1 and 2. Large persistant worlds, not instanced worlds are what most people classify as MMO's, ala guild wars not very MMO like. WOW, FFXI very MMO like.

It was an mmono it wasn't, it was and action rpg with an online multiplayer, 4 player online is no where near mmo.
