I really disliked Oblivion. I just couldn't get into it. The main quest was interesting in the beginning, and then they just recycled the Oblivion gates over and over, and you had to do the same thing in each one.

Most of the copy pasted dungeons had sweet FA in them, which meant that exploration was often unrewarding.

The combat was pretty dire, the levelling system was weird and the dialogue was balls...

If all this stuff is fixed then I might pick up Skyrim. Might.

I was not that impressed with Oblivion either. I own every single Elderscrolls game in the series and its one of my fav series but I was definatly dissapointed in alot of aspects frmo Oblivion when compared to Morrowind, Daggerfall,etc.. from the series. Skyrim looks to be alot better then Oblivion, seems like Bethesda learned. Sure I spend around 150-200 hours on Oblivion but it was not quite up to te standards of the previous games in the series for me personally, by the looks of it Skyrim will be better in nearly every way.

You shouldn't pick it up. Because you'll probably be one of those people who comes in here and complains about Skyrim not having spears, bad dungeons, blah blah blah, and I have a hard time not saying bannable things to people like that when I'm enjoying a good game.

Oblivion is one of my all time favorite games. I thought the combat was fine, the story interesting and exploring dungeons and new areas was fun. Only thing I found lacking was the physics. Skyrim does look amazing. I think they have re-fined the combat for the better and the graphics and physics look much improved.

lets hope this game gets an 9.5 or even an 10..other wise the few demon/dark soul fanboys on this board will get even more vocal lollawlessx

Witcher2 is better then Dark Souls, dont tell people I said that though :P

BF3 has turned out better then I expected, hope the same goes for Skyrim ;)

Funny. Most people I see talk about the combat. And this is good and all, but the more difficult interactions with other things in the world are the peaceful ones. Discussing or not about the crimes you have commented should be above combat systems. Introducing bribes in the same Oblivion crime catching scheme would improve it.

The video quality seemed terrible even in HD to me. Anyway, can't wait as it is only a couple weeks away. :o

Yeah teh graphics dont look crazy amazing but hey, I have played Elderscrolls since back when Arena came out and Ive never bought a game in the series because of the graphics.

And of course mods will add better textures,etc.. for those that want in Skyrim.

There is a 3rd person view and also the devs have said they put in alot of time to make the 3rd person view alot better this time around then it was in Oblivion.

For me I always use 3rd person view when im on a horse or running around collecting herbs but if im fighting or doign some serious then first person

I like fighting in 3rd person view. It looks so much better, especially if you downloaded animation packs in Oblivion.

I agree, still graphics look pretty good for a game this massive! We cant compare Skyrim visuals to ones from more scripted games like Gears or Uncharted.
