The Final Fantasy News was not that big a deal

Firstly this is not a fanboy thread,

To the 360 only owners, congratulations, you are getting a great rpg in final fantasy, the more people that get to experience it the better, I hope you enjoy i, I know I will :)

but to those spouting off how the news was a big blow to Sony, and that there is no reason to buy a ps3, let me explain something to you about Final Fantasy. The biggest market for the game is DEFINETLY Japan, they are nuts about it over there, and japan just happens to be the region that the 360 is almost non existent and the ps3 is king (not counting the wii of course) and I dont think many japanese gamers will buy a 360 for Final Fantasy when its avaliable on the ps3 (if they announced it to be exclusive to the 360 then thats a different story)

The next biggest market for the game is Europe where although the gap is smaller between the 360 and ps3 userbase, there have been more ps3's sold overall than 360 in Europe. I suspect any multi console owning European (who owns both ps3 and 360) would tend to purchase the ps3 version. So once again, the game will sell on the 360 in Europe but will perform better (sales wise) on Ps3.

Finally the US market, which is the smallest in regards to rpg's on consoles. Shooters like the Call of Duty/Halo/Resistance series allways sell better than rpg's. You can add 3rd person games (GTA4/Uncharted) and Racers (Project Gotham/Gran Turismo) to that list. Once again it will sell, but not in incredible numbers (like a Halo/GTA4/Gran Turismo)

So once again, its not a death blow to the ps3 like some people are saying around here.

but I say again, congratulations xbox 360 owners, your getting a great game, have fun playing it!!

It was SONY's BIGGEST RPG....FFXIII is the Biggest RPG of this Gen...and MS stealing it is pretty big news.

People arguing that Final Fantasy XIII going to Xbox is HORRIBLE because it was supposed to be Sony's are just fanboys...

It is a pretty big blow to sony, Final fantasy 13 was more then likely going to be a system seller. Now that this going to be a multiplatform title people in America(that already have 360s) will get the 360 version. But people in japan(that have the ps3`s) Will buy the ps3 version thus not boosting the ps3 sales. well this is my take on it anyway could be different turnout i don`t know.cody3232

Japan ain't even the big game market anymore. I doubt FF13 moves any more ps3's than MGS4 did. Europe is the correct market for SE to target, they've got hdtv's, strong currency, and they're hungry for content. It will definitely sell the most there, assuming it doesn't bomb and get terrible reviews in Japan. Japan is nearly irrelevant this gen for anything bigger than a Wii, why do you think 360 is getting the rpg's? Moneyhatting ain't the only reason.

Square will not be starting the 360 port until the PS3 version is done. No FFXIII for the 360 until at least sometime in 2010....long after it will have already been released for the PS3.

it releases first on the ps3 in japan (FF13 isnt being released on the 360 in japan)

then in NA and Europe they will be released simutaneously

Well that's how MS is going to play it, you knew it was going to be like this because of their business practices in the OS market

Let me try and end all this...

MS is a total business company. THEY DONT LOSE at anything. They will conquer consoles the way they did pc's. Its just how they are. They have the money to keep em coming and I bet they tend to do it. They can buy ANY franchise they want at anytime they want.

Its not good for the business, but its how its done......Hopefully NIN will stick in there for many years to come just so we have their good different games to go with MS type games..

Again, I just read what is supposed to be an interview with Square and posted it because it relates to the biggest announcement of this years E3. Don't get so warped over it, man, lol. I just assumed it was legit because it is an alledged interview with Square that has some of the same statements which a couple of other sites are reporting as well. Who knows, maybe it's bogus?

Anyway, I am remaining neutral here, as I own a PS3 and 360. And honestly, I could care less about FFXIII, I just think it is hilarious to watch fanboys squirm in SW.:P

i could care less about final fantasy either never liked the game besides 7, but if you read the q and a on ign square states that its being released at the same times but there will be no 360 version in japan

Seriously, imo, the reason for why the game is going to 360 at all is because they needed a good excuse as to why the hell they STILL haven't shown any gameplay footage and the fact that they once again f**ked up on the localization front meaning the game is already guaranteed to be deleayed another year after it releases on Japan.

3 years and they don't have 1 damn clip of gameplay....Square is becoming slow and sloppy, a very small shadow of their former selves. They know damn well FFXIII is a PS title, especially in Japan, hense forth why they aren't bothering with a 360 Japanese version. FFXII took way to damn long to release and now FFXIII is turning into a big deja vu.

Seriously after all the crap FFXII went through do you seriously believe Square would do the same thing again and say sry...it's out in Japan but we failed again in our planning so please wait another year while we add in different languages....

My guess is by the time FFXIII finally comes out in the states, it will be late 2010 or early 2011. By that time nobody will give a s**t and new consoles will already have been announced.

Next gen, it will be a damn miracle if they can even get 1 major FF game out. This trend they are on is more then rediculous.

To sum up, Square has become one of the slowest companies when it comes to releasing quality games and they needed to put it on another console to prevent themselves from looking like incompitent slackers aka making it look like theres a lot more work to due then just localization bs. FFXIV, if it happens, will be on the next generation of systems.

Square really needs to focus more on their main FF games instead of going lol lets work on more then 10 games at once. They use to be able to pump out multiple FF games on each platform now 3 years after the announcement with nothing to show.....it's just pitiful.
