actually, I think he is right. Most people who buy HDTVs have no idea how to set them up. My neighbor bought a HDTV and is watching the SD channels with the wrong aspect ratio and some awful color saturation.

they need "HD for dummies"

It is funny how little gamers know about HD. Each HDTV is unique, even TVs from the same model. Each one must be calibrated individually. The best way to do this is to hire a professional calibrator, but if you can't afford that you can use tools like DVE

Why on earth would someone buy something that tells them how to plug their system into a wall. And who doesn't know how to configure their TV, chances are if they don't know that they're not that deep into gaming.

I got this Blu-Ray calibration disc for only $18 on Buy.com. You clearly don't know much about calibrating an HDTV to say that you can get a freebie that will do the same... Not only does the disc teach you everything you ever wanted to know about how and why to calibrate your TV, but it gives you many different test screens to use to calibrate everything. A simple downloaded color scale can't do this. Also, to those of you saying, "bu bu bu stop pushing Blu-Ray it's teh sux0rz" maybe you should click the link and see what it is...it's not saying anything to persuade you towards Blu-Ray (in fact the same disc is available in HD-DVD), it's talking about calibrating HDTV's properly on your own, without paying the experts excessive amounts of money to come to your house and do it. Go ask an electronics store how much they charge to calibrate your TV, then tell me $18 isn't worth it to take care of on your own.
