A safe haven to state and discuss the less than agreeable opinions you may hold in the regards to the games sphere.

My unpopular opinions:

Bioshock 2 is the best game in the series from a gameplay standpoint, and Bioshock: Infinite was one of the most disappointing games of the last generation.

Call of Duty: Black Ops is one of the best multiplayer shooters of all time.

The God of War series' only saving grace is it's visuals. The hack 'n slash gameplay is Fisher Price in comparison with almost any other game in the genre.

Fallout: New Vegas is the game Fallout 3 should have been, and is better than any Bethesda game save for maybe Morrowind.

Fable 2 (3 was pretty trash, however) is an absolutely fantastic game, and one of the best action-adventures of the past generation.

Ride to Hell: Retribution could've been something insanely great.

I played through the entire thing, and had a good time. The dialogue was stupid. The gameplay was stupid. Everything was stupid, but at the same time, everything that happened, every mechanic/event that got introduced made me think of how great of a game this would've been if this was handed to a competent studio.

GTA4 is my favorite GTA game.

That's controversy for you. Eat me alive.

Well then... despite the fact that this wasn't a competition, you've just won, sir.

Thanks, I think.

If it helps, I'm planning on getting the DLC for that game, and play through that as well.

I totally agree with that. Well, the first part anyways. Bioshock 2 was the best in the series because it took everything great about Bioshock 1 and improved on that.

Minerva's Den was also brilliant.

GTA 4 is certainly hated on a lot on these forums for some reason.

I don't think it's the best in the series, but it did do a lot of stuff really well for it to be counted among the best.

But don't you think it's DLC, more precisely TBOGT, is better than the main game ?

Call of Duty: Ghosts has the best multiplayer for a CoD game since World at War.

Halo 3: ODST had a better campaign than the original.

Red Orchestra 2 is the best multiplayer shooter on the market.

I thought about that a lot, and I love the expansions. I find TBOGT to be the craziest GTA game by far. The shit you do in that game is just insane, but every time I judged GTA4 and the expansions, I ended up going with GTA4. It's weird, considering TBOGT is GTA4, but crazier, and I still prefer GTA4.

But I look at GTA4 and its expansions as one whole package. Usually when people ask me which one I prefer, I take the expansions into account, much as I take the expansions of New Vegas into account when somebody asks me if I prefer it over Fallout 3.

Finally finished it last night, but I hated the Last of Us game play. It wasn't bad, it just wasn't particularly fun to me, and it was SOOOO repetitive so it ended up being a huge grind to finish the game..

The story kept me going though. It and the ending really brought the feels so it was worth it in the end I guess

I do that too, i.e. take the expansion(s) into account when judging a game. Like when I judge Age of Empires or something, I always picture it with all the improvements that were added in the expansion.

I just love it when a GTA game has all these totally crazy characters. And TBOGT is just stuffed with those. On the other hand I found that GTA V lacked them, I can only think of Trevor and some people surrounding him.

999 is the best game that came out of 2010

The 3DS is the most disappointing system of the last decade

The Vita's library completely outclasses the 3DS' library and its exclusives are so much better

Bioshock Infinite is actually a bad game with a garbage story that's only touted as good because video game critics need to praise it for trying. One of the worst AAA games I've ever played

Uncharted Drake's Fortune is one of, if not the, best game of the last generation.

Super Mario 3D Land and Ocarina of Time are two of the most overrated games ever played.

Modern Warfare 2 is the best in the series

WipeOut 2048 is the best racer of the last few years

Tearaway was the best game of 2013

Pokemon X is a garbage Pokemon game. Gen 3 is the best.

PCs are hilariously overpriced for a hobby.

The Wii is Nintendo's best console

Resistance 3 was Sony's best game of 2011

Blighttown isn't terrible. However, Dark Souls 2 is better than the first because the first game can be so terrible on a technical level.

Golden Abyss is better than Uncharted 3

The GBA provided better overworlds than most consoles of its generation.

I'll post more later

TES games are boring.

Uncharted games are boring.

God of War flat out sucks.

In general, Sonys 1st party are a bunch of average game designers that know how to hide mediocrity under lavish production values.

I still think FFXV is an incoming piece of shit.

MGS2 is still best in series until MGSV comes out.

Never thought Mario 64 was great.

FFXII is easily one of the best games in the series.

Metroid Prime 3 was awesome fun.

Symphony of the Night > Super Metroid.

Online gaming is overrated and mostly dull.

The Witcher games, while good, are severely over hyped.

SM3DW isn't that far behind SMG2 in terms of awesomeness.

Twilight Princess was awesome.

Gameplay is indeed far more important than graphics, story, or any of the other bullshit. (I know everyone says this, but most of them are clearly full of shit.)

I still believe TLG is coming and has a chance of being great.

Exactly.

And I totally agree with GTAV. The craziness never comes close to TBOGT. There's some moments here and there, but if you look at it, it's more like GTA4 than San Andreas. It's a lot bigger, that's for darn tootin' sure, but it lacks the craziness of previous iterations.

Huh? Explain these two. First off, hobbies get much more expensive than PCs, PCs are a relatively cheap one. That's not an opinion that's fact

And you say DS2>DS1 because technical. Okay. Blighttown isn't terrible, okay. But blighttown is as bad as DS1 gets technically.. Where's the logic?

The world of San Andreas in V is indeed huge. There is bound to be DLC like TLAD or TBOGT with new characters in that world, and in that case they can still go insane with some of the characters :)

Golden Abyss had you tapping the touchscreen to defeat the final boss.

That undid everything I liked about the game right then and there.

@Couth_: No technically Blighttown sucks. But the layout and enemies aren't bad. I don't hate that.

My issue with DS1 is the garbage lighting system, constant framerate drops, camera issues everywhere, objects to get stuck on, and just awful textures. On consoles of course.

And I acknowledge how awesome PCs are, but for a hobby like gaming, I think $700 (let's be honest, there's no use going lower than that for performance that really differentiates it from consoles) is a ridiculous price. I have a $800 build in mind, but the benefits of it don't outweigh what I can get with multiple consoles at that price. Just an opinion. Don't hate PC gaming though.

In enjoyed it from the start, but I also played the entirety of the game with another old school Mario player. I doubt it would have been as fun by myself.

I do think it was world 6 and beyond when I was having the most fun.

DON'T get me wrong, I do believe SMG2 is the better game without a doubt. I'm just not of the opinion that SMG2 shits all over 3DWorld, which is what many seem to think. There are guys on this board saying it's not a "proper" Mario platformer and I'm over here like "shit, it's one of the best Mario platformers around." It's in my top 3 for the series.

That's true. But even constantly running away and firing a shot here and there is still better than QTEs and touch gestures.

-Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze is the best game of the year and the greatest platformer ever created

-Uncharted 2 is one of the worst games I've played of the past generation. The game is a showcase of terrible design choices.

-Mario Kart 8 is the worst Wii U game I own. Lagging behind both Nintendo Land and New Super Mario Bros. U by quite a bit.

-God of War games are the bottom of the Hack n Slash Barrel from what I've played. The mechanics are weaker than most hack n slash games, the enemies are pretty much copy and paste from one game to the next and the formula discourages replay value more than I've ever seen in a game in recent times.

PlayStation 5 will be based in the cloud and it will revolutionize gaming as we know it.

Nintendo will be the last console, and the MS and Sony streaming services will be playable on their console.

Super Metroid Sucks.

Dragon Warrior > Final Fantasy (even 4)

Captain Toad will be known as one of the finest games this generation. Not just because its a excellent game, but it shows how to perfectly work within a console, which is something the twins don't know how to do.

Call of Duty Ghosts 2 NEEDS to happen.

At the end of the generation everyone will regret not buying or trying a Wii U, and will regret being a part of its downfall.

Time for some MOARRRRR

Battlefield 3 and 4 both had fun campaigns compared to those of CoD, that being said Ghosts' campaign was bombastic fun and doesn't deserve it's hate.

Grand Theft Auto IV is the best in the series.

Mass Effect 1 had the best combat in the series, and is without a doubt the best game in the series. Mass Effect 2 is the worst (ironically, this seems to be everyone's favorite).

The Kinect is pretty cool.

Saints Row 2 is one of the best sandbox games ever made. Saints Row 3 is trash (haven't played 4).

The Last of Us, while good, is immensely overrated, and misses so many opportunities to be better in it's gameplay and AI departments.

Halo: Reach has the best campaign in the series.

Halo 4's multiplayer was incredibly enjoyable for what it was.

  • Jak 2 is garbage
  • Twilight Princess was the best 3D Legend of Zelda game
  • 3D Zelda is more enjoyable than 2D Zelda
  • Halo 4 had the best singleplayer campaign out of all of the Halo games
  • The indie scene is awesome because so many developers have been able to put out their vision accurately, but my problem with the indie scene is that a lot of the games, and I'm speaking of a large majority that are recognized and not all, are boring and not fun
  • The Vita has been one of the most disappointing systems to ever come out and has tarnished nearly all of my desire to pick up a successor on the off-chance that there is one
  • The Nintendo 3DS has offered me a more enjoyable experience than the DS ever did.
  • Final Fantasy XII is the best in the series
  • Final Fantasy XIV feels more like Final Fantasy than most other Final Fantasy games, and it was one of my most surprising games to play this year on PS4. If I spend more time with the game, it could potentially be one of my favorite games of all time simply because I find it a joy to play, the music is stellar, the world is astounding, the visuals are breathtaking, and it was just so much fun. The only flaw is that I have to pay to play, but I think it's worth it. :S

I may add some more later if I can think of some. I'm sure there are more.

Uncharted is dull.

Skyrim is just dreadful if you don't install 500 mods (and isn't much better even then).

Nintendo games are for girls (and small children)

Telltale games are not games they are interactive (just about) stories with AWFUL graphics

-Half Life 2 is not anywhere close to the great game it's made out to be. The game has incredibly poor pacing before ravenholm having you slog through bullshit sewer segments and that lame boat level, the gunplay is unsatisfying, which means that for all of the game's variety, it isn't all that satisfying to play because that variety is tied to some dull ass mechanics. The presentation might be legit, but the plot itself is shit, and above all else the enemy AI is laughable. It's a solid, even at times good first person shooter when the Gravity Gun and the variety of the game are clicking on all cylinders, but otherwise it's honestly a really boring game.

-Video Game stories are terrible, universally, with few exceptions like Planescape and Mother 3. Here's the kicker most of those exceptions are only good with the qualifier "for a video game", because they wouldn't hold a candle to what's done in an actual story telling medium like Literature, Film, or Television. This whole "gaming has so much potential" is like this weird bullshit lie that ignores that gaming from a traditional story telling standpoint is the least organic medium for telling a story. It's not a shocker that adventure games have better thought out stories, a shit ton of them have basic as **** gameplay that can be shoved aside for a plot. When an interactive medium needs to cut down on the interactive bits just to tell a story

-Rockstar has never made a great game. Good games like GTA 5 and San Andreas sure (max payne 3 to a lesser extent), but rarely great. Their games were never that good mechanically until Max Payne 3 and GTA 5 actually fixed the shooting, but they still have way too much fat on their games. Their open world games lose the plot everytime, and their mission designs has moments of brilliance and then just bs fetch quests. And in the case of max Payne 3, that game just has atrocious pacing.

-The Zelda franchise hasn't had a great 3D zelda (not great, doesn't mean bad, they've had plenty of good zelda games) outside of Majora's Mask.

I see. Yeah I agree with what you say about Dark Souls. But the hobby thing, you are comparing PCs to consoles only. In the large spectrum of hobbies, PCs aren't that expensive of a hobby

All 3 fable games were at least good

TLOU is a great game, that is all.

Mafia 2 was an enjoyable game

Deus Ex HR is good, but it gets boring real quick.

Arkham Origins is a good game

My ballbag smells great

The Order's in game graphics are unimpressive

Uncharted 4's in game graphics are impressive and looks like it'll be a fun game

Star Citizen will be a fantastic game, way more than just the future graphics king

Pokémon games are great fun

Ubisoft make excellent games

EA are not evil, just a typical large company

Sony couldn't give a shit about gamers

MS will support PC gaming properly with Windows 10 nah just kidding, they'll try and rip us off like Xbox gamers

Metroid Prime is blashpemous to the Metroid name and those games suck(mainly due to the awful gamecube controller and wii controller)

The souls games are fucking boring

other than the cool twist, the first bioshock game is fucking garbage. infinite was better in every way, including the story.

the half life series sucks even though the first game was incredibly influential. gordan freeman is probably the worst character ever made

nothing on the ps4 has looked remotely interesting or impressive.

symphony of the night isn't the best castlevania game

sonys first party need better game designers. they are great at making games to show off the hardware and they are great at the cinematic experience. but many of their games are also sloppy. they focus on making the game look good for a trailer a bit too much. too much art, not enough craftsmanship.

Xbox live and PSN+ are just not worth it.

nintendo need to continue differentiating themselves from the others. they can not compete in the world of online services and horsepower. it will be their undoing if they try.

The PlayStation 2 is the most overrated console of all time. The DreamCast, GameCube, and Xbox were all better than it during it's generation and all of the other PlayStation consoles have been better than it as well.

Mario Kart 8 and Smash Bros. Wii U are awful.

Wonderful 101 is beyond awful. It is, for lack of a better word, a turd.

The Order looks like a fun game.

The Vita has a better library than the 3DS.

The PSP is the best portable ever made.

Genesis, Saturn and Dreamcast are the three best consoles ever made.

SEGA is the greatest video game company of all time.

Mass Effect 3's ending was really not that bad (the "Destruction" path that is, "Control" and "Synthesis" fraking sucked).

Unity isn't worth full price, but it's still a decent game.

Metal Gear Solid 4 was pretty damn good.

Gamergate is a joke.

Doom and Unreal Tournament are much much better games than Half-Life, which wasn't a very good shooter.

Also, Max Payne 3 was much better than previous Rockstar games I had played, but that was already mentioned.
