The Flood are one of the coolest races ever.
They were boring in Halo 2, but I haven't gotten bored of them in 3 yet.
They were pretty bad in 2 though. Extremely repetitive in that one above all other Halo games.
But the race itself is one of the most powerful I've ever seen. Just standing on an infected planet is enough to have billions of them come charging at you and even the rings didn't kill them all, it just sealed them away.
the part i hate the most is snow map. when you are trying to get up top of the tower. with all them flood races drop froming the sky. i thought that was freaking stupid.
Yeah they kinda suck, but the worst? No.Bgrngod
Lmao the video review is hilarious..Best gameplay and AI i've seen yet
I think so (at least for Halo).
Everytime they appeared in Halo they ALWAYS ruined the experience. Why were they in the game at all?
Cedmln
im guessing you either havent played all 3 halos or didnt pay attention to the scenes and dialogue. the flood are a big part for the existance of the halo rings.
i like fighting the flood. my favorite parts are when its one of those free for all fights when you fight the flood along with another group of race being the humans or covenent and they are fighting each other on the screen as well.
[QUOTE="Meu2k7"]Headcrabs were cool in HL2, but a waste of time in HL1.They are terrible versions of headcrabs.
Headcrabs rock.
PBSnipes
Agreed :P , they were alot more immersive than the flood imo .... flood were just either isnects that died from random bullet spray or hulking things which you just mowed into.
Headcrab's presence was more dangerous, especially the black ones, and the mutaed fast crawlers, or the giant mutated one that hurls off black headcrabs xD
HArder to hit aswell.

No i have. They just didn't seem to be of any good use to the story. They just felt like an annoying hyper child that nags at your leg every once in a while with no real purpose.

i found the headcrabs rather dull slow enemies (even the combine zombies) AIs expect for the fast crawlers that look like the aliens from Aliens. personally i like how the flood are faster than the headcrabs and how they jump around all over the place.
I didn't like the flood but theyre a good challenge.
They're annoying, but I can't believe people are complaining, games are ment to be a challenge aren't they ?
I was kinda freaked out when I saw them for the first time. THat Librarey level was brutal. I kept yelling, "WHY WONT THEY DIE!!!!"

I don't mind the challenge but killing the flood just wasn't very satisfying. The little parasite thingies were too hard to hit and the zombies took forever to kill.
They'd be a great enemy if bungie could come up with some way to have you fight them which isn't walking through a series of small corridors which all look identical while cutting through near never-ending swathes of them.
Like someone else said, the levels on Halo 1 where you'd be in the middle of a three-way Marines, Covenant and Flood battle where fantastic; but bungie seem to prefer having at least one horrible flood gauntlet level per game. They even acknowledge that they suck too, which is why "Cortana" in Halo 3 is such a confusing level; in every podcast they talk about how much they hated the Library and the Flood Levels in halo 2, then they make a level like cortana which is exactly the same?
Two weeks after the game's launch they even said "oh yeah totally cortana=fail" in the podcast. What gives?

Reaction in Half Life 2: "ooooh, headcrabs! :o"
Reaction in Halo 3: "oh... the flood :|"
All Cortana needed was a couple more flamethrowers (other than the semi-hidden one) and it would have been fine. I don't know how a developer screws that one up. Its a scientifically proven fact, flamethrowers in games=awesome. They'd be a great enemy if bungie could come up with some way to have you fight them which isn't walking through a series of small corridors which all look identical while cutting through near never-ending swathes of them.

That annoyed the hell out of me because i saw that it was a flood-gauntlet level, saw the flamethrower, thought "AWESOME!" and then was bitterly disappointed to find the flood simply keep running at you, only on fire. They should be instantly incinerated. What kind of crappy flame thrower sets the target on fire, allowing it to survive around 30 seconds before finally dying?

i replayed halo 1 and 2 during christmas holiday and i found them easy to deal with. its weird cause i remember when i played halo 2 in the past i hated encountering them, but they were easy this time around. i just shoot them or melee them when they got to close. i even learned how to do single shot kills with the needler.
i think i read it somewhere or someone told me its more effective to kill the flood in halo 3 with covenent weapons or any weapons that uses fire. i remember they were able to withstand more damage when i used smg, assault rifle, battle rifle, and the pistol.

HotStuff_2169
Indeed. Quite. The Flood is up there with the blunder that was the Trigens. Why do certain developers feel the urge to ruin their own games like this?
Developer A: "Oh noes, players are gonna get bored with the game, we needs variety!"
Developer B: "Hows about we throw a real ****ty segment in there? Compared to the otherwise mostly excellent game we've crafted that'll feel completely different!"
Developer A: " By my narrow moustache that doesn't look like Hitler's at all, that's some excellent logic B, let's do it!"
More like best idea ever in a game amirite?

all you did in H2 was get the sword, in H:CE you got the shotgun, in H3 the hammer.
it's the same formua in a different form.

lol that vid was hilarious! I am SO recommending this game to all my friends!!!
but the flood was alright, I never had problems with it. It added a little more immersion, but there are way better shooters than HALO out there (not intended to start a flame war- just opinion)

Yeah, Cortana was just awful. It was actually easier to just run wildly through the level than slowly fight and plan like you would when fighting the Covenant.
And is it just me, or was it ridiculously easy to detonate High Charity? How much harder was the PoA in Halo 1.
