with the price point of 199.99 reached and 299.99 for the 60 gig and a healthy price point for the elite model at 399.99+ the release of rock band 2+ fable 2 and gears of war 2 ....oh yeah also the holiday bundles!!

First of all your font color sucks and is really hard to read a dark background.

Secondly the 60 gig model is $350 and the 20 gig model is $300 until they run out.

Thirdly I agree that Microsoft has a solid holiday season lineup and I'm sure Rock Band 2 is going to see some huge success.

They should ship a ton of arcades into the market and see what happens ...... it didn't go well last year , but at $199 and some heavy advertising , a lot of unsuspecting casuals might bite on that.

hm i am not sure if it will help. here in germany (don't know about the rest of europe although it is possibly the same there) you can already get the 360 arcade for 199, the premium package for 269, and the elite for 359 bucks. despite this, ms didn't manage to increase it's sales, at least not significantly.

i know that the european market is different from the north american one but don't expect a huge increase in sales.

The gimped $279 arcade version is still being outsold by the considerably more expensive PS3 WW.

MS just wants to use the uninformed consumer to inflate their installed base with the $199 arcade but since 360's fanbase is hardcore and want at least the Premium it's very hard to predict how well they will perform.

No, but at some point the product I receive will have to be worth the same as the amount of money I put foward, and for the total lack of quality exclusives $200 is just too much.

Here are my ideas how the 360 can do better :

1-In gaming stores move their system in front of the store and replace those dirty old controllers.

2- Try and save the 360 in Japan. Change packaging , promotion and give instructions to retailers ( don't place it neat the porn section )

3- In Europe make it able to use keyboard and mouse , add a web browser and market it as a cheaper gaming PC.

What does last gen have to do with it? As long as Nintendo start to produce more Wii's, the PS2 will continue to sell well and I would much rather by a kid (under 12) a PS2 then a 360 or a PS3.

I'm not getting into how has more shooter because everyone here know that the 360 is based on shooters.

If somebody wanted a 360, I hasn't bought one by now, I suggest they simply save a little more and buy a PS3. In the long run it will be cheaper. No LIVE fees, built in Wi-FI, greater core stability, and all the multiplats plus some wicked exclusives liek Resistance 2, the celebrated LittleBigPlanet, God Of War 3, Killzone 2, Final Fantasy 13 (360 will get it much later, according to square. I know, not an exclusive...), and countless others taht I don't feel like naming because you have heard it all before.

In all honesty, the 360 is grasping for straws. It might sell more in America, but little bursts of sales are nothing when sony's behemoth is on the attack (after all this time, they have finally gotten the PS3 into gear!). Microsoft is here to stay, but they have some tricky planning and alot of bribery and payoffs to initiate if they want to keep any sort of headway in the console race.

LOL, everyone but the PS3 has forced the 360 to invent new terms... HD console leader and console exclusive.

Anyways, $199 for any of the 3 current gen consoles is a great deal. Elite for $399... MS should have done that as soon as the PS3 was $399. I can't see why anyone would buy a Elite for more than the cost of a PS3. All the extra media functions are either matched on PS3 or negated by Blu-Ray. You don't need HDD space since movie rentals only last 24 hours (so you'll never have alot of them at once) and you don't have to install games. The 512mb memory card that comes with the Arcade will be enough for people who just want to play games and do a lil media streaming from their network of Netflix.

it has. it's sold more than any ps3 game to date (8 million as of january, i don't think any ps3 game has broke 5 million).

It wont make a huge difference. It will sell more than ps3 in the US for a month or 2 at best. Casuals will still get the WII and hardcore gamers will still go for their favorite console regardless of the price.Tykain

lol that's the exact situation going on with me. my bro has a Wii and is sick of it (although he pretends not to be) and always trys to find ways to play my 360. so now i just need to convince him to sell the Wii and buy his own 360.
