A lot of people are saying CAPCOM or SONY. These are'nt developers. They are publishers with in house development studios. If you are going to praise them then praise Team Dead Rising, Team DMC, Naughty Dog, or Evolution Studios. I would have to give it to Kojima Productions. They only made one game but that game turned out to be one of the greatest audiovisual experiences in the history of gaming. A game that was a worthy entry in one of if not the best gaming series of all time. It got a freaking 10 while we were still wading through the fallout of GTAIV. And the support with the MGO patchs (it needs a lot of them, trust me), and a lot of DLC, much of it free, with the EXTRAS options like integral podcasts have set them apart in my eyes. Depending on what they actually developed, Valve and Insomniac Games are deadlocked (no pun intended) for number 2 in my eyes.ActicEdge
Going by this logic, (come on man, you know hat everyone is talking about) how could it not be treasure? They have developed a buch of high quality games that have been praised by the media and gamers (however few of them there are). You're willing to give it to a dev with one game?
I have never heard of Treasure! :oValve is also a publisher.JLF1Thats why I said: "Depending on what they actually developed." If they didnt develop L4D, the Insomniac takes sole possession of 2nd place.
So you do agree that Left 4 dead isn't a Valve game then?JLF1
Left 4 Dead was devoloped by Turtle Rock Studios, Valva bought them and then cleaned up the game to put it on PC. Creative Affinity created the xbox 360 version. Or am I wrong? I don't care about Valve games too much so I don't really know the history just what I've read over time.

They are so under rated, if you have a wii and some spare time, check out Sin and punishment and gunstar heroes. VC of course, unless you can find them cheap else where, I think Ikaruga is on XBLA.
Sony has squeezed their in house studios for a lot of gaming goodness, imo their at the top. Eddie-Vedder
They are definitely up there. I'd still put Capcom up top and Nintendo slightly above as well. Its just sad that I don't enjoy sony first party that much any more
Kojima Productions.
They developed Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots A.K.A. GAME OF THE FOREVER. They wear the crown.
Intelligent Systems
This Gen they made these games it might not be alot but Intelligent Systems don't make bad games.

Wii:
- Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn (My Favorite game this gen)
- Warioware: Smooth Moves (I know some don't like this game but it got good reviews and it is well made)
- Super Paper Mario (Some might not like it because it isn't a full blown RPGs like the previous Paper Mario games)
DS:
- Advance Wars: Dual Strike
- Advance Wars: Days of Ruin
- Light Speed Card Battle: Card Hero
- Planet Puzzle League
- Warioware Touched
- Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon

I think you have to Import it since I think it is Japan Only they had Card Hero on the Game boy Color or Game Boy Advance. The prequal was Japan Only so I think the DS sequal is Japan only.Edit* My post accidently was in the quote.
A lot of people have been saying Sony which I find odd. None of their games have really impressed me this gen but I guess everyone has their own tastes. And to the people arguing about developers/publishers, if a company is owned by another company it is considered part of that company.
Saying, "BioWare is developing Dragon Age: Origins"
and
Saying, "EA is developing Dragon Age: Origins"
are both acceptable as BioWare is a part of EA. One is more specific than the other and one is more respectful to the actual developer but the fact still stands that they are part of a bigger company.
I'd say Valve (I'm counting back to 2006)
-Episode 1
-Episode 2
-Team Fortress 2
-Portal
-Left 4 Dead
All of these games are at least 87's compared at metacritic. If we added Steam into the equation now...
Whiteblade999
Rehashes of their old game engine, yawn.
I would like to see the next Counter Strike though.
As well as Capcom has done, VALVE is the true "once and future king". They've basically *become* the PC platform with EA joining STEAM, their mod-community is so good it spawns entirely new games, and Portal is (thus far ) the best creative venture of the generation. VALVE has made in-roads into console development as well, and, since Dawn of War II - we're seeing games "downloadable on STEAM, multiplayer over LIVE" - yet simultaneously supporting the STEAM login / community.

I simply wouldn't underestimate them.
Dont forget Bionic Commando. By next gen, Platinum Games will be competing with CapcomBased on what has been released and what has been officially announced...
Capcom?
- Resident Evil 5
- Street Fighter IV
- Devil May Cry 4
- Mega Man 9
- Dead Rising
- Dead Rising 2
- Lost Planet
- Lost Planet 2
- Dark Void
- Zack and Wiki
Any other gen I'd say Nintendo but.... well you know.
Zero5000X
I can't belive you guys, not one of you said the correct answer. I mean really, it should have been on the first page, the first post! *sigh* I guess it falls upon me to inform everyone... again...
The correct answer is: ME! I am the greatest at everything. How could I not possibly be the best developer this gen? The king of everything! (And yes, this was an excuse for me to finally learn how to use spoiler tags properly.)
Ok but seriously, probably Capcom or Valve, they have really put an effort in this gen. Capcom in particular have done some great things this generation, they really seem to be going up fast and not looking back.
Stardock
Sins of solar empires, galactic civilizations 2, galactic civ 2 twilight , sins of solar empires entrenchments, deimigod, the political machine,
when blizzard release diablo 3 and starcraft 2 they might be something special, joining wrath of lich king, although i don't care for wow.
Capcom have definitely been good. Nintendo spread across ds and wii are quite a force too. Valve too with left 4 dead and portal most notably, although the orange box as a whole is just awesomeness.
All Hail to Capcom, I totally agree, they know their niche in games now, they know what people wants and they are doing a great job of delivering it with new IPs becoming franchises like Dead rising and Lost Planet ( I hope the movie will be as great as the game) and releasing sequels to their already established franchises all with great production values and great gameplay concepts.
Capcom is the definition of quantity = quality this generation.
grr. Sins of a Solar Empire is developed by Ironclad Entertainment. GalCiv and TPM are both Stardock. Demigod is Gas Powered Games, ie Chris Taylor and the people who made Supreme Commander.Stardock

So you do agree that Left 4 dead isn't a Valve game then?JLF1and yes and no there - L4D is a Valve game, but it was developed by Turtle Rock Studios, yeah. Valve did completely absorb them almost a year before the game was released, but Turtle Rock's in Irvine and Valve's up in Washington, so the studios are likely separate. And yeah, I'm in favor of giving credit to individual developers. That does instantly make this much harder to decide though, as most devs haven't had -time- to get more than one or two games out this gen.
