The gameplay scenes looked so inspired, I can't wait for this game.

Chutebox
Was there gameplay footage in it?

There was a little I guess possibly scripted gameplay during the sony confrence today

The leaked one must be an earlier build.

I just cannot wait for the game... it is going to be more than worth the wait and price of admission. It is going to show up ICO and Shadow of the Colossus so badly its going to hurt. Unlike Agro, this new creature looks semi-sentient... like a child... which is going to make a much more powerful plot device.

The leaked one must be an earlier build.

There was a private showing at last year's E3 and I believe that the leaked one was the trailer shown then.

[QUOTE="SAGE_OF_FIRE"]Is this game a platformer? sonicmj1

There may be platforms, but this isn't a platformer. It's an adventure.

If you don't understand, here's some homework:

Go out to your local game shop and try to find Ico. If you can't find it, get Shadow of the Colossus. If you can't find either, order them online. If you don't have a PS2 or backwards compatible PS3 to play them on, fix that. You are missing out on some of the most powerful experiences available in interactive media. When you have completed one or both of them, you will understand your current error.

Only then will you be able to accept the truth of Ueda's glory, and be immersed in it.

Do it SAGE, sonicmj1 speaks the truth. Ueda is a master of gaming.

That creature looks so realistic, Team ICO's always breaking the mold and setting new standards in video games.

Well... well said. And anyone who doesn't enjoy the games are missing the point.

I wonder if this is going to be a sequel to Shadow, prequel to ICO; sequel to ICO; or prequel to Shadow.

The ICO-esque enemies lumbering around are wearing colossi-like armour and the kid doesn't have horns (but the bird-dragon does). So my guess is either he is not related to Wander/Ico or he is an ancestor of Wander.

I hope they explain a lot more about the world this time... I have always been fascinated by the lore, what little there was. I also hope exploration and non-combat elements play a large role in the progression of the game. That area the game is set in looks like its begging to be explored. I probably spent as much time exploring The Forbidden Lands in Shadow as I did playing the actual game.

Hell, I hope there's a gameplay element that allows you do lay down with your bird-dragon anywhere in the game and just admire the scenery.

I've beaten ICO once... and have beaten Shadow at least 15 times, not including time trials, unsaved progress, and exploration.

I definitely need to play ICO a few more times, I think I am missing out on a lot of subtle things that I definitely could not pick up my first time through.

haha, nah both games were different enough to attract different people. Even narrative wise. I mean some of the flaws that were in ICO don't show up in Shadow(as Ueda has only gotten better)....but it is what it is. Both games were awesome, and The Last Guardian looks oh so purty :D

I cannot wait to scale this game. The possibilities seem endless with that creature.

What I want to know is, is the boy the Last Guardian, or is it the creature.

Team ICO is in a league of its own.

The games ooze of originality and they actually touch my soul as weird as it may sound.

Never before have I beened more moved by a game.

To me, its not just a game, its a fantasy in which I can live in, it's such a piece of art.

I love these guys.

That's the beauty of Team ICO's work... we won't know until we play the game. This title is a little more ambiguous than "ICO" and "Wander and the Colossus" (wanda to kyozou in Japanese).

My guess would be the creature, given throughout the trailer he is shown countless times littered with arrows.

If I ever get my hands on an original PAL copy, I'll make sure to send you a line on my NTSC copy. But for now I'm probably going to just replace the box art... if I get a nice printer.

Though, I really want to get a sealed JP version of Wanda to Kyozou. To go with my sealed Daichi no Hokou (Roar of the Earth) OST and beautiful artbook.

What's really going to drive this game is the mystery. It's what I love about Team Ico, they just create this unbelievable atmosphere. Who is this creature? Is he/she the only one of its kind? Why is it a mix of so many other creatures? Why is it friendly? Who is the boy? What is their connection? And the fact that they use a little boy to build a relationship with such a mysteriously lovable creature just shows the greatness of the title. This is one game that will define a generation much like Shadow did on the PS2. I cannot praise Team ICO enough because I dont think it gets enough of it to be honest

There was no date given. It is safe to assume 2010, but come October of this year, it will be exactly 4 years since Shadow's release and 8 years and one month since ICO's release. And Team ICO has testified to working on a four-year development cycle with ICO.

Well I like the games you mentioned but they weren't that "good."

When has Team ICO ever used non-engine rendered stuff? The leaked trailer is proof positive that this is all in-game. The new trailer is almost exactly the same only much improved.

one thing i do notice is why team ico chooses game settings with little or no people or inhabitants....maybe its why the games look soo good, but with such dope environments, i would want to see a lot more life forms in the game

well we dont actually know if its more populated at this time, they could be in some ruins just outside of a town for all we know. I do know that it was very very intentional in Sotc.

The whole point of them choosing not to inhabit the worlds with lots of humanoid life is to create a sense of emptiness and loneliness. Other than Wander, Agro, Wander's dead lover Mono, the all-powerful Dormin and 16 large stone-earthen colossi, the only creatures to speak of in the Forbidden Lands are lizards, turtles, eagles, deer and a couple other basic fauna. Its to give you a sense of hopelessness in the face of the challenge that you must undertake to resurrect your lover. There is no one around to help, all you have is your trusty steed and stolen sacred sword... nothing else.

And there were tons of shadow creatures in ICO... they heavily populated the castle and made your life a living hell.

The Last Guardian looks like it will be inhabited by ICO-esque creatures that are dressed in Colossus-like armour.

EDIT: The lack of other humanoid life in ICO and Shadow was a very useful tool in focusing the player's attention towards the relationship between Ico and Yorda and Wander and Agro... giving more meaning to their emotional bond and drawing you further into their plights. If, like Zelda, there were a bunch of towns strewn all over the place and a bunch of people to talk to, the sense of emptiness would be gone and your focus would be towards the NPC's and not the protagonists. And the stories Team ICO has created are designed specifically to emphasize the bonds between the protagonists.

No, the arrows are actually for you to remove. You can interact with the creature including feeding and petting him. Source: IGN

[QUOTE="jsmoke03"]

yea i was doing some double takes on the footage....looks to be quite interesting.

one thing i do notice is why team ico chooses game settings with little or no people or inhabitants....maybe its why the games look soo good, but with such dope environments, i would want to see a lot more life forms in the game

Love and agree 100%. You sure do love Team ICO

If I had my way, I would feed it buckets of win and bottle after bottle of awesome sauce.

Hands down I felt it was the best looking game at E3.
