The Last of Us Part 2 sales have smashed the record for Sony’s fastest-selling PS4 exclusive, knocking Naughty Dog’s previous record holder by the wayside.

The news comes from a report published by GamesIndustry.biz, which concludes that The Last of Us Part 2 sales have knocked 2016’s Uncharted 4 off its perch as the fastest-selling PS4 exclusive of this console generation.

Sales from its opening week have been approximately 1% higher than that of Uncharted 4 — although the GamesIndustry report specifically clarifies that digital sales are not factored into this statistic, meaning that The Last of Part 2 may have smashed the record by an even wider margin.

I think they're referring to physical copies, which was UC4. However, I don't know anyone who bought the game physical, tbh. Got it digital.

This is UK I believe. ND games sale the best there but overall Spiderman, GOW were faster. ND games disappear quickly on NPD. I believe SpiderMan and GOW were able to make top 10 NPD year end where ND games debut number 1 then disappear. They don't even make it to NPD top 10 year end. ND is huge in erope bigger then any of sony exclusives. They make top 5 there. Globally Spider and Dad of War are faster.

It's a good game with high production values. Who woulda thunk?

Yeah overall, although I don't think anyone will be shocked that TLO2 will take that title. A sequel to a game that sold 17 million, controversy aside.

Congrats to Naughty Dog. They're known for good games with great polish. I'm not surprised about smashing the sales record.

This is the first ND game I'm sitting out since the first Uncharted released. The first was simply to dark and depressing for me. The second looks to be even more so. Thus, I passed.

Game is fantastic, gameplay wise. Super fun and engaging and way better than the first.

The story, however, is questionable and should have focused more on Ellie and Joel

Considering most people are clueless about what happens I'd wait to see if it has legs like God of War and Spiderman.

I think it will be number 1 in the month of June and tank in July.

Can't wait to get it. Replayed TLoU remastered last month and it was still an amazing game. Sequel from the little bit I've seen looks ever bit as good.

My best friend recently finished the game, he's a casual gamer per say. He absolutely loved the game. Mind you, he's super homophobic. Although he did mention it's because it's two women, he wouldn't have played the game if it was two men. As far as the other part which is controversial he mentioned it shocked him and made him very sad.

I think this is just the typical internet reaction thing, doesn't equate to real life.

The TLoU2 haters are freaking obsessed with this game. I haven't seen such a big collective meltdown since Uncharted 4, and that was insane, even for SW.

@Telekill: yeah my friend was giving me his spoiler-free review yesterday and he said its super dark and makes the first look friendly. He said the gameplay is improved and he loves it, but he loves it less than the first because it's so grim. So, if the first was too grim this sounds like a hard pass

Amazing game too. Really enjoyed the sequel. Still got around 6-7 hours left I think judging by the pacings. Naughty dogs really deserves it congratulations!

Also I think the previous fastest game on PS4 was Final Fantasy 7 Remake selling 3.5m in 3 days.
