Eh, i liked it but didn't love it.
Gameplay really was the weakest point. Basic cover based shooting, standart stealth elements, horrible "puzzles", crafting was nice.
The dissonace between the grim narrative and the gameplay is what irked me. The story itself is good and characters are great too, but it's hard to really connect with a deeper and more personal storyline when the game asks me to spend half of it's lenght in standart firefights with human beings and basic stealth sections with zombies.
It's not all action all the time, but man, could the game have toned it down to match to mood of it's story, imo.
And boy, talk about cliches. Zombie apocalypse, destroyed world, extreme use of violance to transmit the dramatic tone, etc. I think i actually joked about how Joel was using Ellie has a surrogate for his, probably, dead daughter, and lol, i was spot on.
Basically, good game. Naughty Dog is a talented dev studio, but i can't see it has the holy grail it's made out to be.
Its the 2nd best game on ps3. Exclusive wise, there's nothing on 360 or X1 that comes close to the quality of TLOU.
While debatably the greatest game of all times, it certainly was the best last gen had to offer.
Also, cant help but laugh at some of these autists saying:
> "buh but the AI, it sucked"
As if they can even name a game with better AI than TLOU rofl
> "eh... FEAR chele... have you played FEAR?"
Bitch please, you cant even walk (or crouch for that matter) 2 centimeters without enemies combat rolling through windows, yelling "allah hu akbar!", while spraying you with that lead perfume from head to toes... which smells wonderful btw.
WHAT IM TRYING TO SAY IS... No stealth. No fucking stealth mechanic. TLOU handles both. Combat and Stealth. Seamlessly might i add. Can you say the same about your almighty FEAR, punk bitch? Yeah, I thought so. CASE in POINT. Don't even bother replying to this losers. You've already lost.
FFX eeeewwww
I still prefer Uncharted. I liked The Last of Us but after playing it a couple of times (beat it on hard and grounded) I think I had enough of that game and I don't want a sequel. The sequel has pretty much been confirmed though. The multiplayer was amazing but it gets old fast. Uncharted is leaps and bounds better on that aspect.

Yeah. It's a good game, Naughty Dog did the best they could do with the plot and the characters, but everything about the narrative felt safe, predictable and cliche. It's my fault for falling into the hype, i was expecting more. I should have known better, absolute shit writing like Beyond Two Souls gets a pass in this industry as something 'good'. So its obvious that wen something appears that's actually competent, it'll be praised to the high heavens.
Oh yeah, it's pretty damn awesome. It's the best PS3 game I've played so far, and few games get me so emotionally invested too.
a game that has to be re-released 3 times in a year just to fill the void that is the playstation lineup lol
meh. flops gonna flop
garbage level poster tbh.
y u mad doe?
I wouldn't say i'm mad, more like slightly irritated at your garbage level posting/trolling. If you're going to troll at least be creative/original. Writing FLOP or w/e low base troll 101 tactic is just boring and a waste of time for everyone reading this thread. It adds nothing. It's like spam or those flyers that come through your door that you bin without even looking at.

I think the game presented the world in a very interesting way, more like the walking dead. A cliche presentation would be a resident evil game for example, yet they still have their own unique setting..
I felt like TLOU presentation was believable to some degree, the way the puzzles worked, the environment, you can tell this could be a potential post apocalyptic world, it was so real, and the attention to details was massive.
Regarding the combat, it's survival for the fittest, kinda expected. Especially with Joel being on both sides as he described, and the affection for elly wasn't sudden or anything, it felt natural especially with the how many things you have been through along the game, and it's a lengthy game, and I really loved that after the disappointing short infamous:St.

Cmon, nobody can hate FFX, the voice acting was garbage, and the animations were funny but it was almost perfect in every other regard.

@2mrw: Fair enough, however and imo, i still think that as a game, its good but nothing extraordinary, kind of like what i think of Shadow of the Colossus, terrific experience, but as a vÃdeo game, its fairly mediocre.
I fail to see how one can compare last of us to persona 4 golden...
Both story based games that are renowned for their storytelling, presentation, and characterization?

While RE games aren't original nowadays, to say TLOU wasn't cliche in it's setting is foolish. it's an obvious zombie apocalypse game. No problem with that, but it is what ti is. Calling them Infected doesn't change it

Yes, the environmental detail and level design are good, i don't deny that. it's presentation is also top notch. Cinematic gameplay is something ND has definitely became highly skilled at. Has for the puzzle, hell no. The ladder/plank "puzzle" were plain shit

I'm not saying the gameplay is bad btw. It's good and beside sthe puzzle, it works well. Just not that amazing imho. it's just bog standart. iF teh stealth elements or the survival mechanics were much deeper and required more input from the player, it'd be much better.
it's a game with a very, very heavy tone. A much harsher survival elements, and focus on that instead of linear corridor shoot outs/stealth section would have fitted the game much more for me.
Don't get me wrong here. I don't hate TLOU. Has i said, it's a good game. ND are great developers. I just didn't find ti to be this amazing, 95 on MC, game of the generation that i see people calling it. But hey, opinions right? If people, and your yourself OP, love it that much, that i hope you have fun.
I'd prefer if ND made a new IP after UC4, but if TLOU2 is what it is, then so be it.
The first half of the game is just ok to me, though the opening is powerful.
The second half of the game is an absolute roller coaster ride. Loved it.
Overall the game is great. I can see the 8 argument and I can see the 10 argument...

Which means the truth is probably somewhere in the middle.
Have ND actually confirmed Uncharted 4 is the last one?
Nope but they have never gone further than 4 titles in a franchise before. I'd be pretty surprised if they made a fifth given ND are good at moving onto new IP and the whole story being set around an older Drake makes it feel like the game is set to conclude his story.
This was one of the few games for me that I just couldn't put down. No matter how much I tried I just had to keep playing. It's one of those things where mindset is key. If you think you won't like it you won't like it. Sound design also plays a big role. If you have a headset the music is heard better and it strikes emotion in the player. I didnt know what I'd think of the game normally I would play things like call of duty but I have absolutely loved it. If you think 8 is good then your crazy
It was one of my favorites, but it was far from perfect. I wouldn't have given it a 10 either, but definitely a strong 9.
AI was sort of mediocre (unless it was drastically cleaned up for the remaster). It wasn't the glitchiest AI I've ever seen, but with everything else being so amazing the AI was bad enough that it stood out to me. That has to count as a flaw IMO. Maybe they fixed it in the remaster, I don't know. The story went off the deep end for me towards the end as well, and obviously that wasn't changed for the remaster. It was like 9 ours of gaming heaven, and then 1 hour of who the hell wrote this.
Still, it was an amazing accomplishment and an obvious must play. That game and GTA V are still mind boggling to me what they were able to pull off in technical terms. Those were head and shoulders above everything else, if not for 720p they basically had a next gen feel to them even on last gen consoles.
