Link to the Past beats it. Hell, I think Majora's Mask beats it, probably because my first Zelda holds a place in my heart. And I like the dark story better -bigger_boss-
ALttP was my first, and i deem it equal to OoT, so I voted OoT greatest(since I think they both are)
For it's time it was the greatest game. But in my opinion there are just better games out there. Plus it's a big Internet fad as I seen Lemmings and Hermits rating the game with a 10 on their profile.Nerkcon
I'm not a fanboy, I've enjoyed games from all 3 platforms in the last few years, but nothing has ever beaten OOT, closely followed by MM. I just have too many great memories plaing tose two games (and others). Plus OOT was revolutionary for it's time, and games today don't have as good stories as OOT. I really love that game, and still play. OOT and MM are fantastic.
IMO OOT is the best game ever made, and SMG doesn't have the same flair as it, to knock it off it's throne IMO.

You just basically said It was the king of its time.. People need to see its a little outdated compared to the games today.... You guys just say this because it was the best of its time.... And now Im going to get flamed.... * Runs away*
Neither great or the greatest.nintendofreak_2
What? Even if you don't like Zelda at all, you gotta give kudos to OOT for its quality.
a link to the past is better than oot in imoriver_rat3117
I think this too. But that's only because I like 2D gaming more than the 3D.
But OoT is definitely one of the greatest games ever.
The only thing about OOT that has aged is the graphics. The open world exploration, the puzzles, the dungeons and temples, the combat, the item collecting and upgrading, the story and music, the length(haha looking at all these Blu-Ray games that can't even pass 10 hours of gameplay, a damn cartridge has more gameplay), and everything else has aged quite gracefully. And from someone who has the console with the best graphics out there with games like COD 4 and Oblivion, I still love how Ocarina looks.

[QUOTE="club-sandwich"][QUOTE="DaBrainz"]wasn't that Majoras Mask? :|OK I have to say this...
When OoT came out I reserved it, got the special gold cartridge. I played it all thanksgiving weekend that year. It was amazing looking it was new it was fresh but... it was way to boring, I felt like I was running around these giant dungens that werejust not very challenging.
NowTP on the other handwas perfect. I felt like it took all of the good things from OoT and WW and got rid of the crappy parts. I know this is a no no for a nintendo freak to say so...*leavesthread in shame*

I think all Zelda games (except A Link to the Past maybe, I dunno) have at one time had gold cartridges. I know the first two definitely did.

I thought Twilight Princess was shallow and linear; the exact opposite of OoT.
Really? I thought the game took everything good of Ocarina of Time and Majoras Mask then destroyed it,But after the first 2 dungeons, it began slowly rebuiding itself, only to get knocked back down with seemingly unimpressive dungeon design that seemed more annoying than easy or hard....Hyrule was totally empty in the game, the hidden secrets and things like that were sparse.
The dungeons were too easy and you didn't get a sense of accomplishment after completing a puzzle. Quite a disaster on many levels.
Imagine a Hyrule the size of the cities in Assassins Creed:o
I would buy that game immediately!
I haven't played the game, but I've seen screenshots.
Zelda with that =

I remember being a little dissappointed that it wasn't the Shiny gold like the original NES gold cartridge.
