The Master PC Race is review bombing RDR2 on Metacritic.

In HZD's case, it was a new IP. I would hope they didn't have expectations that it would sell over 10 million. If anything they were probably aiming for about 3-5 million, and were pleasantly surprised that it sold that much.

Software sales:

• Pokemon series - 300 million
• GTA series - 250 million

User numbers:

• Pokemon Go - 800 million
• GTA V - 90 million

Gross revenue:

• Pokemon franchise - $70 billion
• GTA franchise - $9 billion

The numbers speak for themselves. GTA doesn't come anywhere close to Pokemon's success.

The PS4 version runs poorly? I was thinking about getting it on the regular PS4, however the rumours about a PC edition is reason enough for me to wait.

The point is that it's not just the "PC master race" that is review-bombing the game, but also Rockstar haters. The disparity between critic and user scores for RDR2 is similar to the disparity for GTA IV & V, as the numbers above show. So it would be inaccurate to blame the downrated user scores entirely on the "PC master race" when the same disparity also exists for GTA IV & V. Meaning that the folks who downrated GTA IV & V also have something to do with the downrating of RDR2.

Nope. I don't like Super Mario much either (I'd consider it to be one of the most overrated series, with GTA being the most overrated overall). The only (former) console manufacturer I am a huge fan of is Sega (or at least classic Sega).

i remember square enix selling selling tons of the first tomb raider reboot. and they made a statement that the projection was higher. i guess its not really a new ip. but i dont know what these developers expectations are.

Why anyone puts any faith in zero-accountability user scores I’ll never understand.

Do we know if there is a reason or not? maybe they just wanted to focus on consoles first, who knows. But gamers especially on here say they have a backlog of games to play so why cant they just be patient. It honestly comes off as spoiled/child like because they didnt get there way. No one is "forcing" anyone to double dip, gamers are doing that by choice.

Pokemon Go is a free game on a market with billions of users.

GTA V is not free and hasn't been.

What wii,n64,gamecube,snes,nes wii u or switch game comes even close to 90 millions of 1 game version.

Joining game versions is a joke the closes thing in Nintendo arsenal was Mario kart wii that sold like 35 million copies,other than that nothing even close to GTA 5 which is ok since GTA5 is also on multiple platforms.

You know, console players could post reviews like that to make fun of PC players. This thread is worthless. What was the point of it?

We were comparing franchises, not individual games. But to address each of those points:

1. GTA and Pokemon both have about seven mainline games each.
2. Pokemon Go alone was downloaded by almost half of the entire global mobile gaming market.
3. Free-to-play games usually make more money from microtransactions than buy-to-play games do from software sales.
4. Wii Sports sold over 80 million. Super Mario Bros and Pokemon Red/Green/Blue/Yellow sold around 60 million each.
5. Makes no sense to compare software sales of exclusives to multi-plats. GTAV released on far more platforms, with a combined install base exceeding a billion users.

It's also worth keeping in mind that each mainline Pokemon game generates billions in merchandise sales. When factoring in merchandise sales, virtually every mainline Pokemon game out-grosses GTAV.

I see no issue with this, its not on PC for the reason of money and nothing else it should be slammed hard for it.

This is why user scores mean less than nothing. Talk all you want about game and movie critics being “just one persons opinion” or spouting off an unfounded conspiracy about bias, they are at least real people and not automated Python scripts.

I don’t trust anything “non official” on the internet. That includes upvotes on videos and products, user reviews, ‘alternative’ news media, and the opinions of forum posters.

Rockstar are massive, there is no restrictions on what they can port and what not. So many lesser developers do it no problem.

Bought the ps4 version. Shit's boring and laggy. Maybe x1x version is better, I don't know. None of my friends have x1x, so cannot check. Not sure if I'd want to play it again on pc when the port releases. It's no GTA.

Nope, it isn't a stretch at all but a most likely scenario. We are talking about a fanbase that sent death threats to devs for putting their games also on 360 when the past entries were PS exclusives. They started online petitions to keep those exclusives to PS and not multi-platform. This is the same fanabase that started petitions to Rockstar to prevent them from porting GTA V to PC.

True, Pokemon makes most of its money from outside of video games. Which is what makes it the biggest franchise, because it's a major player in different markets (e.g. games, anime, manga, toys, cards, etc.).

Pokemon targets the family-friendly market, which is generally more financially lucrative than the mature market that GTA targets. As the list shows, most of the highest-grossing media franchises are generally family-friendly franchises, while only a handful of mature franchises are up there.

On a side note, Sony's annual revenue has picked-up a lot lately. The gap between Sony and Microsoft was much bigger just a year ago.

Keep playing. It does get better. It's still cinematic, but it's worth it. I am def getting it soon after watching some more footage on twitch.

It makes you feel heavy. Like you're controlling a heavy person. But I definitely wouldn't call it clunky by any means. Rise of the Tomb Raider's duck and cover system was clunky. Lara didn't always detect a wall when she should and sometimes her limbs would react late to the initial collusion.

RDR2 is very responsive and I've never had any issues with duck and cover or collusion detection or running or any of that. It's the animations of choice that give you that illusion. They're slower to look at but the initial response time is as sharp as it should be. The camera works fine too.
