According to id softworks, when someone plays Rage on Xbox 360 they will not need to install all 3 disks at once in order to run the game.
"I see; thanks for that clarification. So there is the widely-publicized 22GB install for the 360 version of the game...
Yes, and there is a misconception about that.
Ah, do you want to clear up the misconception and then we'll move forward? Because that might answer the question I was about to ask.
We were under the impression that it was all or nothing, that you had to install all three discs, but that is not the case. You only need to install the disc that you happen to be playing. So if you're limited on space... I mean really, it's a subjective thing you know... You get more texture paging if you don't install it. Most people, they don't care two jiffy's about that. The game doesn't load any faster or anything, you just get less texture paging with installed discs. If you don't care about that, don't install it. But if you want your textures when you want them, but you only have like 10GB free, just install the content from the disc you're currently playing on. So you don't have to do all 22.
Ok, good. So the question that I had was, let's say I do decide to install all 22GB of data onto my hard drive, is it still the case that if I am on disc 2 content I will have to put disc 2 into my 360 or if you have disc one in the drive and have all three discs installed do you not have to swap those discs out as you go?
You'll have to change the discs out as you go."
So, while there will be disc-swapping, 360 owners with small hard drives will not be without the option to install the game.At 22 GBs total, you can expect each install to be anywhere from 7-9 Gigabytes.
