This. Even more so in recent years. I've never known them to rush anything, they have like 6 million studios and they still only put out more or less one game a year, but it works for them. Valve is pretty similar too.Rockstar, baby.

Bethesda is not consistent.Â...so far Valve, Naughty Dog, Rockstar, and Bethesda. Bioware and Blizzard used to be on that list.Â

I agree, with each game released (since morrowind) it gets more and more simplified and dumbed down for casualsCD Projekt Red
Valve
Clover Studio (RIP)
Rockstar
Nintendo
Kojima Productions
Rocksteady
What's with all the people saying Bethesda? Their games are consistantly worse than the one that came before.

Streamlined and made accessible and for the better. There was a lot of stupid crap in Morrowind that was made much smoother in Oblivion and then some in Skyrim that I highly take over Morrowind's system.
CD Projekt? The only awesome game they have made is TW2. Valve makes small games only.ÂValve, CD Projekt Red and Rocksteady would be my top picks.

The guy you quoted has made some excellent points in regard to Bethesda's trends. "Streamlined and made accessible" aren't for the better when you throw proper game design out of the window in the process, and for stupid reasons too.

With the addition of fast-travel/ too helpful HUD telling you where to go to the exact point. It feels like they are just making the game easier for lazy casuals that just want to jump into the action. Also taking away a good chunk of character customization and the skills away doesn't make the game more accessible, it just makes it feel dumbed down. With the addition of fast-travel/ too helpful HUD telling you where to go to the exact point. Fast-travel is an option and a good one at that. The HUD is only helpful if you use it and again is a good addition at that since I could get so lost in Morrowind that it wasn't even funny and became an annoyance in Morrowind. Character customization? What was the character customization in Morrowind? Just a bunch of pre-set character designs and faces? Yeah...they took SO much away from THAT. The skills they took away probably weren't even useful for anything and were just there. I don't know the spells in particular but that's just me and besides taking away cumbersome skills doesn't mean dumbing down it means taking away what isn't necessary.

Mercantile, speechcraft, athletics, acrobatics, sneak, hand to hand, do any of these ring a bell when talking of "weren't even useful for anything and were just there"? Nah, that can't be, none of these skills were actually cumbersome. They all added to the glory that was the extremely innovative levelling system Oblivion had.

Um.....they're all in Oblivion, though.

I was talking apparel wise your character is more customizable, and as for the lack of HUD in morrowind it made the game feel more realistic when you would instead take the directions from whom ever gave you your quest and actually search for your destination, I almost always found this system more fun and immersive as your actually doing real exploring and dont know where or what you could come across along the your journey. As for the skills I guess its not as bad as I made it out to be, at least in Oblivion, but my biggest pet-peeve with Skyrims skills was the lack of ATHLETICS! Which is absolutely ridiculous that everyone in the game world will run/walk the same exact speed, that really killed the immersion of Skyrim for me.I was talking apparel wise your character is more customizable, and as for the lack of HUD in morrowind it made the game feel more realistic when you would instead take the directions from whom ever gave you your quest and actually search for where to go, I almost always found this system more fun and immersive as your actually doing real exploring and dont know where or what you could come across along the your journey. Realism. Bethesda game. Wut.
I don't really see less customization options to your character as a detriment, really. It was just an aesthetic look that I didn't really care for through a majority of my time in Morrowind. I get what you're saying but there's only so much exploration with no knowledge on where to go that I can take before I rip my f*cking hair out and restart from a previous save. I liked Oblivion and Skyrim's smaller worlds a lot better, I still got an epic sweeping land to roam but much smaller and more consintrated instead of Morrowind's huge ass land that bored me and turned me away from the game. Shame about Skyirm, but, honestly, I never noticed people in Morrowind or Oblivion running faster than the others or slower than others; they all seemed consistant in their speeds.
Anyways, I don't really care about the running or walking speed for my immersion, for me the immersion I got was just strolling around the world looking at all the sights, listening to all the sounds in the world around me, happening across a small little village while they all go about their duties, and happening across a den of bandits or a pack of wolves and drawing out my glass longsword and getting into posisiton to attack and strike down my foolish opponent and drown my sorrows in the blood of my enemies whilst I feast on their Daedric hearts.
Maybe not that dramatic but still...I hope you catch my drift, here.

I wouldnt say consistent, but based on track record and pure abundance of games - Nintendo EAD
ActicEdge
Nintendo EAD is good, I just don't feel like they've been under that banner long enough to qualify. Released 4 games.

I think we both can understand each others perspectives at least a little bit. I guess the main problem with our little debate tho is someone could see the consistency of developers work could mean different things to someone else as the TC didnt fully elaborate on what he meant by "Consistency of the developers work"I think we both can understand each others perspectives at least a little bit. Yeah, plus, if one person likes all the games that one developer has put out then he could say himself that the developer is consistent while others say otherwise which then just turns this whole debate into opinions versus opinions yet again. Not that that's bad or anything given the recent revival of the System Wars of System Wars.

You guys haven't played Urban Chaos? I'm disappointed. With that I would definitely say Rocksteady is consistent. I would love to see another Urban Chaos game.[QUOTE="Goyoshi12"][QUOTE="Ravenshout"] They have just made two games in ONE GENRE. Not yet to be assessed.
