[QUOTE="jasonharris48"]

[QUOTE="Deathtransit"]Funny, I was big fan of the first three Halo games. Halo: CE containing my favorite or my 2nd favorite campaign in the series. I was hoping Halo: Reach would contain the best campaign and the best multi-player in the series. It ends up being a bastard, mutilated child of the franchise. I find it hilarious how you compare it with CE, because I don't remember CE having bloom, corny Armor Abilities, and s****y maps.

TheEngima683

well all to his own opinion but I loved Halo reach Best FPS i have played.(ive played so much) story was epic(read the books gives you a very good insight on halo reachs story) anyway games i hated and such would be Fear 2 I loved it but compared to the first it just isnt better

I've read the book Halo: The Fall of Reach, and I have to say that Reach did a poor job of handeling the destruction of Reach.

Why does everyone have to keep pulling out the "opinion" card? It's the saddest excuse of shutting down criticism.

Why shouldn't they use their opinion? Personally I don't really care much about someone else's opinion if mine differs because to me it's mine that matters. If you don't like something that's fine but not everyone is going to feel the same way.

well the real battle took place as the game ended except for the last mission, (bungie should of done a few more levels but perhaps DLC)

[QUOTE="Ace6301"]Farcry 2 gets the worst sequel award. It's not just a bad sequel to a good game either, it's just a bad game all around.lamprey263
I actually liked Far Cry 2, never played the previous Far Cry game or games, what was so disappointing? I imagine that people that played the previous games were the ones disappointed with FC2, that's why I'm asking.

I didnt play the 1st one either and thought the 2nd was just horrendous.

Dude, I didn't post that. I haven't played a Halo game since the first one and I know nothing of the franchise. :?

I know, I was actually trying to simultaneously trying to respond to your post and some other guy's post. GameSpot's system must've mixed them up or something. I was trying to say that the first two chapters were excellent in MGS4, but the third chapter was a glorified mini-game and the final boss was godawful. MGS4 is a good game, but it doesn't send-off the series with a bang as I hoped.

To respond to soulitane:

Yes, everyone has an opinion. But it doesn't mean I can't present a objective counter-argument when someone responded to my post.

To respond to workknow222 post:

I could care less if Bungie took liberties with the canonical backstory, all I care for is for is decent writing. The storytelling in Reach was downright poor. Prior Halo games never had remarkable storytelling, but they contain the depth of a Earnest Hemingway novel compared to Reach. Even ODST had better character developtment than Reach, and that was just a 5 hour expansion pack.

I see what you mean but it's subjective as to whether or not them things are bad, so that's where opinion comes into it.

A lot of people who played Fallout 1/2 were extremely disappointed by Fallout 3. I was disappointed by Mass Effect 2's storyline, didn't really care that much that the gameplay was better. But I haven't really had that many disappointments this year.

I thought the SP would be a lot better then 4's amazing campaign but it was terrible with the exception to the Washington DC levels. Plus the convoluted plot and the "cliff hanger" ending.

lol Wut noble team was way better than those ODSTs Just becasue theres no dialogue doesnt ean you cant learn something in the cutscenes they way noble moves acts how the vice drops yet rises as they find out about jorge how they have a rush for the fight, little emotion had to be shown cause Spartans have little emotion only a mission. but anyway thats just an undertanding you can have a whole diferent one

When I read the title, the following games instantly popped into my head. Gears of War 2, Halo Reach and SOCOM: Confrontation. You can add SOCOM 4 to the list as well. Regen health..screw you Zipper.

Good list. RE5 was probably the most disappointing for me after playing RE4. Halo Reach, while a great game, was missing something in both single & multiplayer & I quickly lost interest.

But in topic: MGS4 and Reach were totally amazing games and were not "dissapointments" as you would say

Add Soul Calibur 4, Tekken 6, Ninja Gaiden 2, Metal Gear Solid 4 (story and character wise), Silent Hill Homecoming to the list.

TheEngima683

I already added MGS4, but added too many games on my list. There were just so many disappointing game sequels this gen. Developers should just abandon these popular franchises, and then move on with something new.

Heres the thing though. Its your opinion. To me MGS4 is the second best MGS. Just cause you thought a certain game was a disapointment doesint mean they should drop it just for you. I found RE5 a disapointment. It just didint feel like a RE game. Thoug it was fun. Im not praying for the devs to drop the RE francise since I still like the series. RE5 disapointed me but whos to say the next will.

jasonharris48

Yeah, I'm not going to defend the storytelling in MGS4 or any game really. MGS3 did have a much better story, but MGS4 had numerous incredible gameplay moments which balanced it out for me.

The gameplay was pretty good although I hated ch. 3

Sonic The Hedgeog(2006), Crackdown 2, Gears of War 2(not a huge letdown but I was expecting that game to carry me till either the Next Halo or Gears, and well, I stopped playing it consistently like two weeks after launch thanks to a broken online multiplayer) and Final Fantasy XIII.

I found the Wii, DS and especially the PSP to be disappointments as a whole.

Far Cry 2 - potentially awesome, turned out lackluster due to weird game design.

GTA 4 - pretentious story and an overall lacking of the GTA spirit couldn't be compensated by the better missions.

New Super Mario Bros. Wii - boring and pointless.

Super Paper Mario - pretty solid game in its own right, but inferior to the previous 2 games.

And not this gen, but Wind Waker - an unfinished copy of Ocarina of Time with a flashy presentation.

I also enjoyed RE5. Sure it sucked as a survival horror and a RE title, but it was a blast to play (I have 65 hrs clocked in the 360 version).

[QUOTE="yellosnolvr"][QUOTE="TheEngima683"]

STALKER Clear Sky: The first STALKER was so immensely spectacular that I was severely underwhelmed by this game. And when i wasn't underwhelmed, I was frustrated after my game crashed. GTA4: It didn't carry the magic that the previous games had. Maybe its because im older, but even then, gaming itself is older so i guess it wouldn't make much of a difference. But all I know is, while GTA4 was definitely one of the better games (if not best) I have played on my xbox 360, i was expecting a lot more.yellosnolvr
Ugghhh! Clear Sky was simply a disaster of epic proportions. Hell, I'd take Far Cry 2 over the second S.T.A.L.K.E.R. game.

I'm actually one of the few who prefere GTAIV over prior GTA games. The 98% of the missions of every pre-GTAIV game frustrated me to no end.

i can definitely see why you would prefer gta4 over the others, because the missions were so much better. its just missing something :(

the fun. Also, I like how R* makes it appear at first glance about of the story is about Niko searching for revenge and then you really find out that the whole damn game and its expansions are all really about diamonds. Freaking diamonds. San Andreas mops the floor with GTA 4 in everything but graphics and physics i guess (if you prefer the funny crashes where you fly everywhere over easir to control vechicles) even Vice City was much better and all it was was a huge videogame version of Miami Vice and Scarface in a blender. (still love it though) The only part of GTA 4 that I found truly amazing was TBOGT

[QUOTE="Raymundo_Manuel"]

I'm not going to go into great detail, but I'll name a few :)

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare - I just thought it was awful. End of story :P One of the worst games I've ever played.

Halo Reach - I played the beta (I know I know), and just got bored of it very quickly, and this is coming from someone with over 2,000 games in Halo 3 multiplayer

God of War 3 - I never played the first two games, but I must say I was incredibly disappointed by this game :P It goes up there with CoD4 for me.

TheEngima683

If you thought the beta was dull, wait till you play the full game. It's actually worse than the beta.

Yes because Campaign, forge, custom games, firefight,re-balancing, new maps, arena, extended armoury,a bunch of community made maps in matchmaking and a whole ton of other stuffmade it worse.

FC2- I shot this game with an AK. Nothing else needs to be said

Mercenaries 2- EA turned this into Airstrikes: The Game. Lucasart's trademark charm was sorely needed.

GTA4- "Hey guys, let's take out all the things that made the prior GTAs fun, like over the top zaniness and rampages, and replace them with dark storylines and repetitive point A to point B drive sequences!"

Conviction- It's Splinter Cell....without the stealth. Or the tactics. Or the mission structure we came to know and love last generation. Or the awesome multiplayer.

Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway- What NOT to do with a franchise that centers around squad-based fireteams and tactics; turn it into a drama game chock-full of solo missions, arcade tank segments, and throw in cursed 1911 pistols and ghosts. Oh, and make things so laughably surreal that Apocalypse Now would balk.

Banjo Kazooie Nuts & Bolts. I hate that game so much, I get so angry thinking about what that game could of been.

[QUOTE="TheEngima683"]Yes, everyone has an opinion. But it doesn't mean I can't present a objective counter-argument when someone responded to my post.soulitane
I see what you mean but it's subjective as to whether or not them things are bad, so that's where opinion comes into it.

Not necessarily, because there are things that are legitimately bad. It's so easy to use "take my opinion" phrase to shut down criticism and taste. Some idiot could say Disaster Movie is great and The Godfather sucks, and another idiot would say "yo s*** dog, thats likes your opinion".

Even ODST had better character developtment than Reach, and that was just a 5 hour expansion pack.

worknow222

lol Wut noble team was way better than those ODSTs Just becasue theres no dialogue doesnt ean you cant learn something in the cutscenes they way noble moves acts how the vice drops yet rises as they find out about jorge how they have a rush for the fight, little emotion had to be shown cause Spartans have little emotion only a mission. but anyway thats just an undertanding you can have a whole diferent one

First off, quit the internet speak, it's freaking childish.

Also, Bungie intended to humanize Spartans in Reach. But their wasted their effort into making cardboard cut-outs. The Spartans in the book were much more humanized. First off, there's nothing special about Jorge. He's just another big-guy-with-the-heart-of-gold stereo-type. Noble Team consisted of nothing more of stock, dull, and generic archetypes. It's obviously Bungie spent more time thinking about how each would die, then actually exploring their personalities.

Yup, I miss the frustrating repetitive time based missions of the old GTA games too.
