Gears of War is an action game ja, in the single player mode there are set pieces with cutscenes that detail a war like setting with explosions, monsters and metal tearing through flesh, by all means Gears is an action game yes.

I wasn't swept up into the waves of rediculous hype and expectation for this game, I just heard it was a great Action Adventure type game and picked it up. Sure, the plants don't grow in real time and your every action doesn't dramatically change the world around you, but it had some really excellent missions and the game was just fun in general. I played it through something like 16 times and loved it every time.

You lost all credibility right there. That's not a given. Absolutely not. Game A is NOT better than Game B because GB was released last gen. Epic fail.
