The Most Irrelevant Home Console to Own this Generation?

The only place to play PS4 exclusives is on a PS4.

The only place to play PC exclusives is on a PC

The only place to play Wii U exclusives is on a Wii u.

There are two places to play most of the major X1 exclusives making it the most irrelevant of the 4 especially if you were to own all 4.

Why own an Xbox when a PS4 is able to play 3rd party titles and exclusives that can only be played on a PS4.

Why own an Xbox when a PC has most of its major exclusives and can also play 3rd party titles.

Brandless or not. This generation is this generation. If a PS/Xbox console released that happened to be upgradeable and allowed more flexibility than a PC in the next generation. Then, the PC would be the most irrelevant in that generation.

Wii U. While most will say Xbox One due to lack of exclusives, they will ignore lack of multiplats on Wii U. No Witcher 3, no Alien: Isolation, no Deus Ex, no Cyberpunk 2077, no Shadow of Mordor and so on. If you already own another machine for multiplats then I can agree on Xbox One but if you only want to pick up one gaming platform this gen then you'll be most uncomfortable by owning a Wii U, in my opinion.

The basis for owning an xbox if you were to own only 1, 2, 3 or all 4 systems just doesn't make any sense to me.

I'd say the only situation in which you would want an Xbox is if you hate the Wii U's library, cannot afford a PC, and for some reason believe Xbox has better exclusives than PS4.

The PS4 availability simply makes Xbox irrelevant given all circumstances.

That's what I said. I don't think Xbox One has better exclusives than PS4 and Wii U personally. But I think if you own PC, PS4 or Xbox One, you are still getting a lot of multiplats along with exclusives (even if X1 has very very few of them).

Wii U meanwhile is missing out on those multiplats. But I agree that if you already own PS4 or PC then there is little to no reason to get Xbox One because there aren't enough exclusives on it and you already have other machine to play multiplats. In that case, Wii U seems like a good option.

@Liquid_: I have an X1 because I don't have a gaming PC. Even if I did I'd still get value out of Halo 5, FH2, SO, and Rare Replay.

If what everyone is saying about X1 exclusives coming to pc then the X1 is the least relevant. The WiiU is kept relevant by its exclusives which are some of the best games out there. The ps4 also has great exclusives and PC is always relevant due to the fact that the machine lasts longer than any console.

At leas the WiiU has something unique about it.

Wii U, had a fling with it that lasted one fantastic year but after 2014 hasn't given me any reason to fire it up.

My immediate feeling was the xbox and playstation are nearly identical in terms of blockbuster games, thus one is just not "needed" from a technical standpoint. I like playstation focus on "smaller" games much moreso than what xbox is offering at the moment, so I'd say to me, the wii offers something different... Either of the two ps/xb consoles is all you'd need at the moment. In my case I'll take playstation. The pc is not a home console so that's kinda dumb... My answer is the xbox.

Buuuuut... If you gave me the choice between a wiiu and an Xbox one I'd take an Xbox without flinching.

Seems like PS fans need to write a thread everyday to justify the purchase.

Had I not bought a PS4 I would say WiiU but since WiiU actually has exclusive games that I want despite it gathering dust, I'd still say Xone. Why? Multiplats are better on PS4 and exclusive library is not up to my standards for what I expect out of the console. Only game I want is that Platinum games scalebound out of it.

The Xbox One just in sheer terms of redundancy. If I had a half competent PC I would literally have a Rare Replay and Halo box.

Wii U might have been a disappointment, but at least none of the games it has are cross platform.

Maybe not for a Future cause the WiiU barely had one to begin with, but if you're a person looking for a system that can play original Wii games It's the console to get because I don't think you can even get the Original Wiis anymore, and Wiimini takes away the online options so no Virtual Console games.

I know some of you are tired of the Backwards compatibility card, but that little feature the WiiU has is the edge it has over Xbox One. Bundle it up with some Great Exclusives in it's library and it's a nice console to own.

So overall the Xbox One is more irrelevant to a person who owns a PS4 or a Gaming PC since the X1 shares too many games with those systems.

For once we agree, find it baffling how Xbox One is leading this poll since it's not going anywhere while the WiiU is over next year.

If you already own a capable PC or a PS4, the Xbone offers very little. You can play most of its titles in better form on other platforms, whereas the WiiU actually has a stable of content you can't play anywhere else.

The damage control from lems up in here is real. The XB1 is, without an ounce of doubt, useless to own. Most everything on XB1 is on PC, and if it's not, it's just bland rehash. All mulitplats look and run better on the PS4 than they do on the XB1. The online community on the XB1 can fit in a comfortably modest-sized kitchen. The PS4 is churning out true exclusives that are garnering universal acclaim. UC4 is the latest example; there will be many more to follow.

The XB1 is pointless to own at this point. Bottom line.

How can you find it baffling, it's just fanboys on all sides voting, and since there is more Sony fanboys on this site (by a large margin) and the No1 enemy for them is the XB1, so of course its winning, probably by a landslide to (I didn't vote) it's like the OP needs his/her daily fix, and they will feel like they have started the day right because out of the 100+ votes this thread will get, they will probably get 70%+ to agree with them, and with that it's set in stone.

I don't think any of them are irrelevant. I went with X1 because I do feel like it has the fewest exclusives that are staying off from PC - but as others noted, if you don't own a PC then that fact is not really relevant. I ALMOST went with Wii U because of its abysmal 3rd party support, and the fact that it is officially going to be discontinued soon, but it's hard to justify calling something that is essentially "an exclusives machine" the most irrelevant (especially when some of them are quite good)

PS4 is the most irrelevant, considering the Neo one is coming out soon. If it wasnt for the Neo, its the Wiiu by far IMHO.

thread topic is "most irrelevant" which since none of them are literally "irrelevant" should reasonably be reinterpreted as "least relevant" - and I cast my vote on that front. I'm guessing you just don't like my choice of system or reasoning offered but no skin off my nose

Yep, some non fanboys (and fanboys of PC and Nintendo) are just going to vote what they believe, and he probably hasn't considered this, but every single one of these polls is going to have a winner. If someone doesn't like how the poll is going, I see certain fanboys blame an entire single faction for the results voted on by the masses. What they don't understand is these polls are voted on by multiple factions. I voted for Halo in that thread as well and it is winning.

That said, I also agree, these polls are fanboy fodder.

He was just complaining about the poll results being the fault of one faction of users, although the poll is open to the entire forum (Nintendo fans, Manticores, PC fans, Playstation fans, Phonies, and Xbox fans) and we have a thread below with a poll where Halo is beating Uncharted also started today.

I own all of them and this is the value that I get from each:

Wii U has given me many of my favorite games this generation. If I was to list my top 10 favorite games of this generation, the majority would be Wii U exclusives. Plus, with the backwards compatibility, virtual console, and homebrew scene; the Wii U also makes a fantastic retro gaming machine.

Xbox One gives me my preferred platform for multiplats due to controller and online service. Plus, it is also the only console that all of my friends own, so without it, gaming would be much lonelier for me. Oh, and two last words: Rare Replay

Throughout my life, I have never been a big fan of PC gaming, but now PC gives me good virtual reality which is something that I have dreamed about since I was a kid.

PS4 gives me Naughty Dog games and I love Naughty Dog games, but compared to what the other three systems offer me, this holds the least value to me. So as much as I would hate to miss out on Naughty Dog's games, if I had to give up one system, the PS4 would be the one that I could give up without feeling I'm missing out on too much.

No, what he said was absolutely correctly, it is the best exclusive game of the generation.

What exactly is your objection to that statement? lol, who said it was excluded to one category? it's critically better than every other exclusive titles this gen. Being in a specific genre doesn't mean it can't be more. Demon's Souls won best RPG of the year in 2009...AND Won GOTY!

So here's how it stacks up, UC4 is the best game in it's genre....AND the best exclusive this gen so far. That's how the chips fall..

This is an open thread with ALL systems listed, your projection that this is somehow a PS fan justification thread holds no weight because everyone is posting their own independent views. Just sounds like you have some internal victim complex of some sort.

After reading the post I think he was talking about both....maybe even some of the lower AA games as well. I missed the "s" in his exclusive (exclusives) post.

Just because most games on XB1 can also be found on the PC doesn't change the fact that it still has outsold the Wii U by a decent amount already.

No sane person would only own a Wii U, so its definitely the most irrelevant console in general.
