and explain to me how any of those are major? thats kinda like the differences between doom 1 and 2, or quake 1 or 2. its the same game, with some tacked on crap and improvements. improvements are a given in a sequel. Gzus666
*sigh* Some large changes I remember from the top of my head.Hi-jack! Being able to 'hi-jack' vehicles in Halo 2 was a huge change and a very large leap from Halo. It totally altered the gameplay, everyone always remembered being ran over by the ghosts, now if you time it right you can take that ghost away from the opposing player and get some payback.
The rocket launcher gets a 'lock-on' feature. This was another one which changhed the gameplay drasticly; in Halo, when you were in a vehicle(except the Scorpian), you didn't really have to worry about a player if he/she had a rocket launcher. However, in Halo 2 -- you had too. Let's say in Halo on blodd gulch, someone gets your flag, hops in a ghost and he's gone. You would have to aim and perfectly lead the playerin the ghost with the rocket launcher and pray that you hit him so you can retrieve your flag back. But in Halo 2, all you had to do was lock on and let one rocket fly and that ghost is nothing but a pile of scrap metal.
Xbox Live. Yes, in Halo you could do XboxConnect, but that was crap. In Halo 2, and to this day, you have the best multiplayer experice that you can get on Xbox Live. No game out there is as customizable and has a good of a lobby system as in Halo 2. Adding Xbox Live to Halo made it a huge hit, with over 4 billion games games played online and millions of hours played. It was definitely a huge leap forward.
Multiple Characters in Halo 2. In multiplayer, and in single player. You can play as an Elite and as a Spartan. A large change from teh Halo universe. Normally you only saw the human side of the story, in Halo 2, you got a deep and complex lok into the Covenant side of the Halo universe.
Duel-Weild. In Halo 2, you had the abilty to 'duel-weild' weapons. This was a large leap from Halo since Halo 2 added some new weapons, Brute Plasma Rifle and the Sub Machine Gun, holding a gun in each hand was loads of fun. It also changed the gameplay. You could have different combos of guns, like a plasma pistol to remove the shield of an opponent and a SMG or a pistol to finish the opposing player off.
Metals and the 'Post-Carnage Lobby'. A detailed look how the game played out , who killed who, deaths, kills, ect. Let's say you killed an opponent by 'butting him with the end of your rifle'; thus, you will be a medal. Or if you snipe someone, you get a sniper medal. This was a cool new approach in Halo 2.
Press Y to view Friends. While in Xbox Live, Bungie had a cool feature which all you had to do was press Y and your friends list came up. You're probably like, so what? But this inspired Microsoft to put in the Xbox Live Guide button as Frankie(Bungie.net content Guy)said some time ago.
