Horrible. It was fine on the DS and just barely acceptable on the Wii, but now it still looks like a DS game on the Wii U? I think they should've taken the art direction somewhere towards the lines of Rayman Origins/Wario Land Shake It.

Graphics this, graphics that, graphics graphics graphics.

we're just asking for an artstyle buddy.

The new screens and footage actually look pretty good.
I'm actually excited about this game again.

The background is solid, but that same ugly art style just get to me. We have games like Rayman Origins that have actual effort put into the art, and games like this with barely any effort towards the visuals what so ever. What little there was shown of it (I expect more Tuesday) looked just like all the other 2D Mario games. Hopefully, Nintendo has some more creative levels they haven't shown or some other games besides the same old, same old. Super Mario 3D Land has already burned me off of 2D Mario games for some time -_-

When I think of the original mario games updated its pretty much those wii u screenshots.
Last time nintendo tried to do anything different with art styles, everyone had a hissy fit (WW). Community has to just take it for what it is and enjoy.

Still if it plays good and offers alot of levels and a fair bit of challenge, is it really worth getting worked up over it?I agree. The Art style is so incredibly lazy.
However, I seriously can't blame them. I mean, the ds and wii versions of the new super mario bros. games sold like...what... 60 million copies combined? or something insane like that?
Im fine with them putting out a more modest title like this as long as its not the main feature of the launch.
They really need to push this series more though. Like seriously.
I would prefer sprite based, but whatever. The backgrounds look solid, I don't like the actual levels, looks weird, doesn't fit in.SaltyMeatballsSprite based would look way better as well.
I kind of agree. I like the art style, but its getting old after 2 games already. Every other mario bros. game had its own unique art style.
The only thing worth looking at is your sig. Can't get past it.Horrible. It was fine on the DS and just barely acceptable on the Wii, but now it still looks like a DS game on the Wii U? I think they should've taken the art direction somewhere towards the lines of Rayman Origins/Wario Land Shake It.

No. Mario platformers are about visual clarity. These are precision based games and as such they require precise visual feedback.

Rayman Origins also came out on the Wii so i dont know what the hell you're talking about.

He's had it for a long time. It's paedophilia, plain and simple.
