So today at school I was talking to my mate about games, hes a casual gamer, and i asked him which consoles he owns/wants. He said he's got a PS3, says its well worth the money, and PSP has the best graphics and best games. I asked him about the Wii, he said "What, that stupid Nintendo thing?" He says he has no intrest in it, what with the lack of online, terrible graphics and bad 1st, 2nd and 3rd party games.
So we decided to ask some other people, and their veiws were pretty much the same. Lots of people have bought the PS3, and love it, and people dont like Nintendo games, they say "We dont want to play those baby games, I liked Mario when I was like 6, now GTA is the best"
So I think only hardcore Nintendo fans are buying the Wii, 3 million of those who actually liked the Gamecube are looking for the same old thing, so flocked to buy a Wii, and judging by the slowing sales, not many more of those fans are willing to get the last-gen console when they can move into current-gen with PS3. So while sheep are playing Wii in their parents's basement, the rest of the world wants to get the better machine, the PS3.
My personal experience with casuals is easily this and only this.
What ever the heck is cheapest, they buy. These two guys were at Wal-Mart, looking for the Wii. They couldn't find it. They were looking at the 360 and the PS3. There wasn't the 20 gig PS3, and the guy said "You must be ****ing crazy to buy that". So then they look at the tard pack 360. Oh wow, its 299, that means you save a lot of money right? The guy at the register said it has a wireless controller, headset, hard drive, and components if you buy the premium, and the memory card is 60 dollars alone...
"Na, I just want the cheapest way to play". He looks at Gears of War and nearly ****s his pants "This ****ing game is 69.99$?" If he looked closer he would have noticed that it was the premium edition, and not the regular. So instead of buying a new game, he picks up Call of Duty 2 and Burnout or something because they were simply the cheapest games at 29.99 each.
If my experience holds true, that it's the CHEAPEST thing that sells. While your case I believe, its only valid when SOMEONE ELSE is paying for it. In that case, "The most expensive is best" theory holds true.

If they pay for it, Cheapest is Best. If someone else (mommy and daddy usually) Expensive is best.

I suppose it could be win=sales but lots of good games also=win. But right now PS3 is doing either very well right now. Maybe in the future but not now. Oh and to educate you on Samus, SHE is a human in a suit. Samus is the protaganist in the Metroid games. Metroids are annoying things in the game you kill. Google it up. But yeah, learn about it before making silly posts and making yourself look like a fool (although kinda late for that now, huh :P)

This topic is actually kind of ironic, because most of the kids at my school have a PS2 and are turning to Wii and 360 (more to Wii) because the PS3 is too expensive.
