My guess is because CS just wouldn't work very well with a 360. Every game would pretty much devolve into a massive campfest (though it already is a campfest at times) since the weapon damage is so high that firefights would be won based on who spots who first.
And really, TF2 is fantastic.
I picked up The Orange Box last weekend and overall im pretty damn pleased with the package i got.
But when i went to the multiplayer section of the game, Team Fortress 2, it really surprised me that i would be playing an animated ****based multiplayer game. I mean why did Valve not put Counter Strick in this pack? It makes no sense. A shooter that compares with the likes of Halo and COD, yet im playing an animated multiplayer. Im sure there are people out there that enjoy this ****of game, but if Counter Strike was on this disk it probably would have been the best gaming package ever released. I feel a little cheated...but more so it is just disappointing.KrAcKK
Yeah, I already have CS:S as I bought HL2 when it first came out on PC. But my 2 friends just bought orange box for PC and I was hoping it would have come with CS:S so I could play with them too. Oh well, DoD:S and TF2 are so much better anyway.
[QUOTE="Zeliard9"]Probably because TF2 looks and plays better.FrozenLiquid
Damn straight.
Bingo, also (Please don't flame me for this I am not trying to bag the 360 in anyway) but CS is 64 online while I don't think he 360 would be able to have 64 online and play smooth. Also why have 2 online Multilayer games? They must have thought one is enough. Anyway CS was originally a mod thats why they could have not included it.

CS has 32 online.....
Even so, most people do 8 on 8 anyway.
Portal more than makes up for it. It equals two CounterStrikes. This is not an opinion. I'm not asking you, I'm telling you.PhoebusFlows
:|... portal whilst fresh and fun lasts 2 hours on console's then boom they dont get MODS for it.
As for it being equal to CS... No.
TF2 has style and is actually fun to play. CS is too...quiet and intense - I used to play it for the challenge, but I wouldn't say that it was enjoyable.
Besides, if you don't actually own Counter-Strike in one form or another...where have you been for the last eight years?

TC is a console gamer... note: the avator clearly states XBOX rules.
He wants it for360 because his PC aint doing jack in the graphics department.

Wrong. theres lots of 64 (or 52, 50, around that area) player online games LOTS.

CS:S is not a demanding game at all. Even if he does have an ancient PC theres still CS 1.6.
First off.
CS would SUCK on console. CS on Xbox 1 was woeful - in comparison to 1.6 or CZ it was laughable.
As for people saying CS:S as not demmanding. INdeed, but look at TF2. Neither is that demmanding, yet the 360 only has 16 player servers and loads of lag.
It seems that the source netcode doesent work well with XBL.
Never the less CS:S is about as pure as team based tactical shooting gets, and would be unnatural on console.
Did you just say counterstrike is comparable to HALO and COD?
NO NO NO my friend. Those games are comaparable to counterstrike! CS is the closes we got to online gaming perfection. That is, if you're good at it. If you're not, it's a horrible game. That's why I prefer TF2.
I kinda agree and disagree. I beleive its pretty much perfect team based online play, but the whole good at it or not - i disagree. Im knowhere as good as other friends of mine, but I still enjoy the odd CS match. The game is so easily acessable, and pickup and play, not to mention has lots of depth. Its no wonder it maintains its popularity.Did you just say counterstrike is comparable to HALO and COD?

Sure it's a classic but classics are best played once in a blue moon. It just isn't up to the standards Team Fortress 2 and Portal set.

Agreed, who needs CS when you have such a well balanced fun ****based shooter?
Although I couldnt imagine CS working well on joybads since its heavily Twich-Accuracy based.

wow you really dont like consoles do you misfit guy.
CS for the xbox was in no way sluggish with the controller, in fact it was brill with perfect sensitivity and i played it just as much as 1.6
dunno what you problem is but CS source would have been great for the PS3 or 360 even i wouldnt have got it as i ihave had source since day one

:|CS on Xbox was abysmal compared to 1.6. And this is comming from someone who has played CS since Beta 2, and owned CS on Xbox for a few months. I was terrible in comparison, and it WAS sluggish in comparison.
CS:S on PS3 or Xbox would be equally terrible on either consoles. It is a type of game where mouse aim is imperative to sucess, and makes the game what it is - having a gamepad takes it all away. Its the same as Quake and UT on console. Quake 3 was terrible on console (i have it on Dreamcast and PC), and so was UT99'. It'll be the same with UT3.

Gonna have to disagree, Half-Life 2 and CS on the Xbox were terrible.

really? I dont know i hear all these people going on about counter strike i just want it on console
Trust me, you aren't missing anything.Trust me, if you don't play CS:S your missing the best squadbased shooter that has been made to date. Number of active leagues servers and pro players prove this to be the case. It is not opinion.

I need CS and I have TF2.CS is on the xbox, CS on consoles just dosen't work.
If you master CS and play at league level, it's as good as an online game can ever get. It's not accessible and you will be overwhelmed, that's what makes it so rewarding when you get good at it.
TF2 is no were near CS in terms of competitiveness, play better? Maybe, but CS is too different to compare.TF2 looks better and plays better.
Also, anyone who wants CS has it for the PC. As its not a demmanding game.

[QUOTE="coolviper2003"]Doesn't everyone have counter strike sourceby now? sadikovic
No not the console nubs.
TC CS flopped on the XBOX 1... the game is too fast paced for the sluggish controller.
UT3 will flop on consoles.
QFT Fast paced FPS's that require skill cannot be done well on consoles with a controller.
