Anyone who thinks that Halo 3's campaign will be better than HL2+EP1 & EP2 deserves to have their head shoved in a blender.
Also, Team Fortress 2's deep strategy based gameplay will own the shallow and unbalanced MP of Halo.

Poor Lemming. Doesn't even know what a REAL online FPS is.
Go back to playing your casualized Halo.
That may be a little harsh, but i agree that Orange box will be incredible.. and to me i EXPECT it to be better(but who knows right!)
Halo 3 is meh to me. I'm going to get it, because i have a 360 and its one of those must try games, but i'm not looking forward to it. Orange box though.. man, i couldn't be looking more forward to it! Team Fortress 2 alone makes it!
In sales, Halo 3 will destroy the Orange Box. Isn't that what matters? "The market decides."
Halo 3 multiplayer will be better than Team Fortress simply because of the amazing matchmaking and larger player base of Halo 3, not to mention the VERY balanced online play that Halo has. Single player? Well, I've already played Half-life 2 and Episode 1, so I don't really care for Episode 2. Yay... another 6 hour game, and when THAT is over, another 1 year+ wait.
Halo 3 will finally finish a great trilogy, so I'm looking forward to that WAY more than Episode 2. Will the Orange Box be good? Probably... but I will like Halo 3 much better (I think).

What about TF2s cartoon style doesn't that bring it down, and the fact HL2 is actually 3 years old and they couldn't do as much as BUngie (built halo 3 frm ground up) to make it meticulously shiny 'n cool on the 360.

It's not exactly shallow but it is extremely unbalanced... as is Gears of War. I mean seriously in Halo 2, there were certain weapons that literally were a hundred times better than the other weapons and if you got them you started to do significantly better. Beam Sword is a prime example. I believe they fixed that but honestly the Spartan Laser looks way overpowered. Overall, the balance in Halo 3 appears so-so. I won't even bother to talk about Gears' balance problems because honestly.... if you don't see them you are blind. Honestly, PC modders are going to have a friggin frenzy rebalancing the game. After all the mods, the PC version may actually be more than just fun and addicting(like Gears' is) but also balanced and fair. I bet you will also see the people making massive levels so that you can do 16v16. With dedicated servers that IS possible. Make a huge map, with good balanced weapons and weapon placement and it will be awesome.
? Probably... but I will like Halo 3 much better (I think).

Judging on what you thought ofprevious Half Life's, the 'I think' was pointless.
IMO Half Life > Real Life (joke but, Half Life series> Halo series *imo*)

Just like to point out that 3 years ago HL2 was next-gen level graphics. Also, they updated the graphics so they are now even better. Just look at this screenshot and tell me its not great.
Good job pointing that out but you fail by trying to prove it by dissing Halo.
Both will be well worth getting.

You can't possibly compare Halo 3s futuristic look to TF2s whacky cartoon art style. Look at the Halo 3 screens and you can see that Bungie have made a graphically stunning game. Not that TF2's graphics are bad, infact I have been looking forward to the game a lot because of the deliberate and interesting twist of art style in the game. But surely you see the difference between the 2.
naturally, I can. but both are very bright and colorful, especially compared to most of the big hyped games of this gen (Gears, CoD 4, KZ2, etc). You can't possibly compare Halo 3s futuristic look to TF2s whacky cartoon art style. Half-life 2 is several years old. BUT this is the best possible deal you can get if you have never played Half Life 2.DaysAirlines
Every console owner should buy Orange Box, period, because the only HL2 they could've possibly played if they didn't on their comp is that terrible Xbox 1 port.
to bad halo will sell more. HL2 is a great game that should be owned by all.
niall077
I don't know... considering HL2 sold 13 million copies on the PC alone, I assume that you will see at least 10 million more copies sold for people wanting to continue the story of Half-Life 2. And thats just for the PC. Add the 5-6 million other people that will buy it on console/PC because its such a great value(5 games for the price of one)... I suspect it will sell even more because of the sheer numbers of people who fell in love with TFC, and then later switched to consoles. Those are all going to be buyers. I actually suspect Orange Box will outsell Halo 3.

At the end of the day, we're gonna buy Orange/Black Box (i assume you want this on PC) whether or not it has the highest resolution or best textures.
I think Half Life 2 was a good game in 2004. It's really not as godly as people who haven't played it think it might be. I couldn't bring myself to get very far in it at all. I wish I could play it co-op, even though the story might not be fitting (I've wanted to play it co-op before Halo3 co-op was announced).
Team Fortress really doesn't look like a shooter I'll enjoy much. The mere fact that everything is cartoony will be a big downside. I can't imagine the game feeling solid on a console like Halo does.
I really don't care if Halo3's multiplayer isn't as dependant on skill as other games. It's going to be a lot more fun than TF2, that is for sure.
[QUOTE="hongkingkong"]no more then Halo 3's. :?I honestly will be very bothered by the very cartoony look of player models in TF2, if I play it. Maybe not so much the environments (although something about them is annoying as well. maybe color choice), but the player models are just plain icky. What about TF2s cartoon style doesn't that bring it down,

Aw, why, because you didn't enjoy it?
HL2 easily holds up to this day, much less if you use mods. You probably couldn't name three superior FPSs.
Whatever you say, man, lol. I, like most here, have already played/beaten the Half Life series, and as good as it is, it's still a "been there, done that" sort of deal. Therefore, Halo 3 has more of an appeal to me as new game.
Hell, the main reason I even want the Orange Box is for Portal, as it just looks so addictively fun. So, for me, the OB is not a 'must have on day 1' deal like Halo 3 is, but I do intend to buy it, regardless. And with that, I guess I need to go shove my head into a blender now, huh?.....Entitlement to ones own opinion FTW.

Portal does look badass. Innovative gameplay's always welcome.
I don't really care which one is better becauseI'll be playing both of them on my 360. :D
And  You called Halo 3's multiplayer shallow and unbalanced.

Yeah, your right, actually. Half Life 2 is definately a better game than Bioshock, and we know how awesome people think that is.But, I don't think the game was very immersive. Some of the environments were pretty crappy, IMO. Especially the displacements. Like, the cliffs and stuff.
I always thought the SMG in the game with its cone of fire was a really annoying gun. I don't really like any of Half Life 2's weapons, but I suppose some of that is personal taste.
I still do think that it's very far from something that should be considered everybody's favorite FPS.
edit: Note I never said that I thought Halo's campaign modes were better than Half Life 2's. I'm excited for Halo3 because of online multiplayer. So many options to have fun with.
Well, the orange box will offer a lot more gameplay for your buck. And Portals just looks darn cool to me. In MP, Halo 3 might be the better game, but then again you have Halo 3 mpVS HL2 mp/Team Fortress, so it's a close call there. Single player though, hands down it will be the Orange box.

I probably came off a little too harsh before. Obviously, you're free to like or hate the game. My big issue with HL2 is its linearity. It wasn't nearly as open-ended as I would've liked. But honestly, that's basically where my misgivings with that game start and end. Not a flawless game, but certainly one of the premier FPSs and also single-player games ever made.
You mean HL2: Death Match? HL2DM kind of sucks. It's kind of like FEAR multiplayer.Well, the orange box will offer a lot more gameplay for your buck. And Portals just looks darn cool to me. The only way Orange Box will offer more gameplay for your buck will be if TF2 turns out really, really good on the 360. Good enough to be more fun than playing the different multiplayer modes on Halo3.
I will most likely be playing Halo3 for years.

I thought HL2 was very immersive, seeing everything played out through Freeman's eyes, the combine chase sequence in the begining was heart pounding. The buggy/boat scenes were really cool, fighting along side your friends while going against the combine and strikers was just pure action bliss. Maybe you just didn't let yourself get immersed, or HL2 is just not your type of game. Not to mention you can use mods to update the graphics to still look cutting edge. I'm talking about the PC version here. It only cost $50, and some stores will probably sell it for $40 like Circuit City (they sold Bioshock for $40). PC mods add a lot to a game's life span, thats's why I am confident that it will offer more game for you buck then Halo 3.Not to mention you can use mods to update the graphics to still look cutting edge. Yeah, HL2 + Cinematic Mod 4.0 (which includes that godly Fakefactory texture mod) looks better than pretty much every game out there with the exception of Bioshock. And also possibly Company of Heroes/World in Conflict. Those are probably the best-looking PC games out there right now. S.T.A.L.K.E.R. with select mods is also very impressive-looking. It's amazing how much better mods can make a game look. Oblivion, too.

I assumed you meant the 360 version, since Halo3 is obviously a 360 exclusive.
BTW, I never should have made the comment about HL2 being good in 2004, because I haven't truly enjoyed a single player game since the NES days. I realized when I started playing online multiplayer, that I wasn't even having fun playing single player games. I don't really get into stories in games. Who knows why. I like books a lot more for that. Games that are made to be pure fun (instead of thrilling or exciting or puzzling) are what I like.
