why is this a must play?

what are you expecting Gamespot to tell you that you aren't seeing on this gameplay showcase? That the game will suddenly open up and become a 40 hours RPG?

This is it, exactly. I miss the days of Mega Man, when there wasn't something that told you how to do everything, I mean can't we figure out ourselves ? Couldn't the player have executed that guy without a cutscene ? Why does everything need to have a cutscene, you know ? Just let me play the game. It looks so beautiful, and the setting is awesome. The gameplay could be great, because what's there is good. But I literally just watched a movie, with a few minutes of gameplay. With Quantic Dream's games, you are watching a mystery unfold, you are there for the story, and the visuals, so it works. But this game needs the gameplay, because it's a TPS.

That same instant kill animation in the kitchen being used twice just seemed lazy. I'll wait till the price goes around $20 at the end of the year, the story could end up being amazing and its probably an easy plat.

It's so blurry it hurts my eyes. Some flappy cloth does not a graphical master piece make.

This game would've been 10 times better had it not been set in an old time period.

Well, when you're getting the superior multiplats between the 3 consoles, it makes this "opinion" sting a little less.

It's like Uncharted mixed with heavy rain in a steampunk setting

Guns sound like pea shooters, enemy ai is laughable, black bars and more cutscenes then gameplay. gameplay isn't all that either.

Its a shame that this stuff passes for gameplay. Pretty soon most games will be visual novels where the same choices lead to the same ending. But oh the presentation and that awesome story! Just sad.

If the awesome story part actually held true at least we'd be getting something out of it. It's usually just awesome presentation with a story that is equally as flimsy as the gameplay.

The game (visually) looks great. Everyone goes on about those black bars, but that shit doesn't even bother me. It's the by-the-numbers gameplay that kills me. Probably another 10 hours of shooting faces inbetween cutscenes incoming. It's getting tired.

You can have a cinematic game with meaty gameplay. We've been seeing that fact as far back as the PS1. Don't know why some devs are so content with only providing the flair.

"Must play" even though we have seen barely any gameplay and the game isn't finished because it's a PS4 exclusive, and peasants gonna peasant. This guy probably preordered it already based on the trailers.

What? The setting (and visuals) is really all this game seems to have going for it.

I don't necessarily hate cutscenes, but I don't like when cutscenes and QTE's overwhelm the actual gameplay. It is really important for games to find a good balance between the cutscenes that are needed to advance the story, and making sure the player actual gets to PLAY the game.

This game just looks like it might not have a good balance of the two which worries me.

Looks like an interactive movie. Too little actual gameplay for me. Sadly I think this one will be a pass.

Ok. Guess it is just me that hates cut scenes. I like to play games, even though I am starting to get bored of the same formulas for fps/tps games. I haven't even completed stuff like max payne and gears of war to move onto this. This seems more or less the same with more cut scenes and better graphics.

ya, the visuals are really good, which is somewhat a waste given the setting is very old (1800s)

Imagine those visuals on a proper modern or futuristic setting.

This game is like watching a movie but with hard work. Cut scenes and QTE galore.

Maybe it's an ironic thing. We spend so much time hating on QTEs, movie games, and all that. Maybe RAD is just having a laugh with this.

Makes me glad I sold my PS4 and bought a X1. This was one of the few games I wanted to play at first but the more I saw the more it looked like complete trash. The X1 has so many other great games out and more coming. You almost have to feel bad for the cows that this is one of the biggest PS4 games to come not only since launch but in the future of known games. The most impressive part of the game was the graphics and even that has gotten downgraded. Overall there has been a downgrade but the most is when any combat happens.

and with the wii-u exclusives makes the x1 exclusives just that much more irrelevant as well. So basically the x1, and the ps4 is generally in the same place as far as competing against the other platforms.

Nice movie. Still trying to figure out why their is haze ad fog inside the air ship.

Doesn't look like it will be worth $60 though. I can pay $10 and see the film at the movie theater.

LMAO!! This is true. They hyped DriveClub like it was a "AAAE" game, but when the hype thread came out, they were complaining that there wasn't a 6 score as an option. Then they bash XB1 exclusive games, but when the hype thread comes out, they are selecting "AAAE" for games like Sunset Overdrive and Horizon 2. Bunch of hypocritics. Too funny though.

I fell for the hype and pre-ordered the Collector's edition at $79.99, after seeing all of the gameplay and such, I'm going to cancel it and maybe, just maybe get the normal edition.

Gunplay looks ok but there's too much Heavy Rain gameplay. :/ And lol at complaining about black bars. Not a big deal at all.

Movies have it because there's a focal point on the action, the outer edges of the screen don't necessarily matter. When you play shooters you could get shot from everywhere, you use the whole screen to look where you're going next. It's done to make the graphics fancier, which isn't the case in movies. Can't say I like it in movies either but that's something else.

@LustForSoul: I'm not a huge fan of it either. However it's not as if it's becoming the standard for gaming. This is the most CGI looking game there has ever been.. Some previews even compared it to a blizzard cinematic. So if blackbars is what it took to achieve that on a $400 dollar console, I'm willing to check it out.

DC was never hype to be AAAE in fact it was hyped here to be AA or A,now Halo MCC that was hyped to be AAA and flopped like hell.

There is no scare DC was a new series which was hyped by its graphics not gameply,in fact it was delay and many previews of the games slammed it,so yeah people saw what was coming it didn't take a mind reader to know it would score low,even worse it was plague by online problems.

Graphics look good but gameplay looks boring, if I had a PS4 I'd be more inclined to get a third party multiplat.

The graphics look awesome! I love the Victorian setting. But this looks like it would've been an good cgi movie. But as a game, it seems very suspect....like ryse. The AI is super retarded from that video lol.

Amazing visuals but I was surprised at how poor the gun sounds are. The game play looks very thin. The worst bit was when he kept pulling people over the counter.
