The Order: 1886 Hype Thread.

"The Order: 1886 is set in an alternate history London, where an old order of knights keep all of the world safe from half breed monsters, who are a combination of animal and man. In the game's history, around the seventh or eighth centuries a small number of humans took on bestial traits. The majority of humans feared these half breeds and war broke out. Despite the humans outnumbering the half breeds, their animal strength gave them the upper hand in centuries of conflict.

Centuries later, humanity finds new hope in King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table. King Arthur and his like-minded knights take the fight to the half breeds, but Arthur soon realizes it's a losing battle. Through a mysterious turn of fate The Knights discover Black Water, a mystical liquid that significantly extends their lifetimes and gives them remarkable healing abilities. Despite this new advantage the half breeds continue to win battle after battle, until the industrial Revolution turns the tide. Inventors are far ahead of their time, inventing technologies such as thermal imaging, Zeppelins, and wireless communications. New weapons belch electricity, ignite clouds of molten metal on top of enemies, and fulfill dual functions as fragmentation grenades and proximity mines.

By 1886, the war still goes on, but the humans almost have martial law. A new threat emerges in the form of the lower classes rebelling against the rich and the social order, with the Knights supporting the well-to-do upper classes and nobles. The game features four main protagonists from the same squad, who each has a given name, and the adopted name of one of the original Knights. The oldest is Sebastian Malory, the second to bear the name of Sir Percival, and the descendant of Thomas Malory, who in the 1400s wrote Le Morte d'Arthur, the definitive Arthurian Text. A close friend of Grayson, he is one of the best Knights in the history of the order.

Grayson is the third to bear the title of Sir Galahad, and has battled the order's enemies for centuries. He views Mallory as a mentor, Lafayette as a friend, and Isabeau as a potential love interest. Other than that, little is known about him so far. Isabeau D'Argyll is one of the younger Knights in the order, but is much older than her appearance of being in her late twenties. The latest Lady Igraine, Isabeau was Grayson's apprentice and if not for her commitment to the order, his lover. Marquis de Lafayette was a French military officer who fought in the French and American Revolutions. His tactical expertise brought him to the order's attention, and Mallory approached him and convinced him to join the order. Although the group's youngest, his globetrotting has given him a whimsical outlook on life that grounds the squad. As an apprentice, he does not yet bear the name of a Knight."

Most reviewers will probably give it 7 to 9 for it's "Amazing story" "Superb characters" and "Photo realistic graphics". ugh...

7. Aside from the graphics, which are phenomenal, it looks so....average.

I'm hyping it a 9. Sony fans will come crawling out of the woodwork pretending that they knew it all along. It will be a 1 time playthrough but that 1 time will be a good story.

Lord knows if actual PlayStation fans are doing the hype.

Anyway, I give it an 8. I'm sure it'll be fun and the story will be great but I'm also sure reviewers will be hard on it bc it's not a PC only title and has "depth" and it's not a Nintendo title and is "just pure fun regardless if there's nothing to the game besides the same old thing."

6/10 is my guess, just from what we've seen, though if it gets a 7 or 8 then good for it.

thats why hype threads with polls are terrible IMO because people can hype with anonymity, both for and against. This way people can't hide and vote.

I could see this ranging anywhere from a 6 to an 8, but I'll plump in the middle, my hype is a rather sad 7.

While I'm still being caution on Order: 1886 but I ended up pre-ordering this at Target meaning they only pre-order only a $1 and when I go pick up my copy, I get a $5 gift card so that's a bonus for me. That said, I'll probably wait a 1 week after release to see if this game is worth it and nothing of value was lost for me. I'm assuming that it supports PS Share, so if my friends are not sure about this game, I'll let them play it so they can see if it's worth it assuming I pick it up of course. I'll give it a 8/10 only because there is no MP and not all games need MP, this is one of them and not to mention, it's a new IP Sony exclusive.

What are you talking about? Captain Toad was hyped AAAAE+ and when that didn't make it people just said 'darn' and moved on with their life. Hype threads are supposed to be fun and entertaining. It seems like every Sony hype thread is the most boring threads in SW. Its like Sony and their fans don't understand what fun is.

I'd say likely an 8. I bet the review advises reservations in ways but also stresses that it is worth purchasing to experience the brilliantly crafted story and design.

No PC game will match The Order in graphics for at the least 3 years. Giovela, gpuking, m3buarder, and m3dude can confirm this.

7. I don't see anything special about it aside from it's visual presentation.

I think it's easier to have fun when your console has a ton of already awesome games. Toad was no biggy because we had so many other great games score high last year.

Until then every new game is treated like life or death for a console.

I'll give it an 8/10.

Gamespot score? I think they'll give it a 7, maybe six. But who cares? This is the site that says "gone home" is better than The Last of Us.

This thread is a perfect example of why hype threads are completely useless. Opened by a sheep just to douse interest in the game, people openly admitting they will be hyping inflated scores just so it fails to meet hype, and of course Sony fans will underhype it just in case it doesn't meet hype.

And nothing was gained or lost. Who cares?

It's got a brilliant setting, it's looking a bit formulaic but I am looking forward to it. Unless its an outright disaster I'll be playing it and I'll make up my own mind.
