That's pretty harsh. While, yes, Mario RPG is significantly better than Paper Mario, and while Super Paper Mario wasn't that great, the series is still really clever, witty, and entertaining. The first game was somewhat of a Mario RPG ripoff, but Paper Mario 2 was very charming and compelling and was full of great gaming moments.

I think you just expected Paper Mario to be identical to Mario RPG which is isn't (in quality or charm). Try playing the second Paper Mario game- with it, the series really came into its own. In opinion Paper Mario 2 is the best game on gamecube.

Again, comparing Mario RPG to Paper Mario is like comparing Super Mario Bros. to Doki Doki Panic. While, yes, they are similar enough for a comparison to be made, they have completely different styles and require a different approach.

The Paper Mario series is hi-technical. :P

The original Paper Mario is one of my favorite RPGs and the one for Wii is an extremely fun game. Never got the one for GC though.starwarsgeek112

You really need to play the Gamecube one. Paper Mario 2 is the best game in the series by a large margin.

Just fyi, only 12-15 yaer olds care if something is kiddy or not. Now if its like for 4 year olds you might have a point. but it isn't so that point fails.

Between those two screens, I'd say that Super Mario RPG looks better. The characters and environments are much more polished. The only thing Paper Mario (64) has over SMRPG is the backgrounds.
