The reality is for the general consumer the xbox 360 slim doesn't bring a **** thing to the table. What MS needed to do was lower the price of the xbox 360 down another $100 or so. Most people that want something from MS at this stage either A. Need to replace their broken xbox 360 so they are looking for the cheapest prices to do at or B) People are looking to buy a console at the cheapest possible price they can get it at.

Also, if the xbox 360 slim doesn't come with free online, I really don't see how anybody really benefits from it all that much.

Just bought an elite last month thinking slim wouldn't be available till the end of the year if it was announced, not particularly joyous about the announcement it will be out next week.

I luckily sold my Xbox 360 to my older brother a while a go, so I've been looking to get a new 360 anyways. It's not only smaller, it's quieter(best part), it's got a 250 GB hard drive, and built in Wi-fi. And with Kinect, I think Microsoft might have a whole new flood of consumers coming in, so thinking the only people that want one now have broken 360's or are waiting for a price drop is not likely.

Exactly. And if people still don't want to pay $300, they have 2 other cheaper options.

They couldn't announce the price-cut on the older models because they're trying to push the new model on us. Even the guy on the GT stream seemed reluctant to tell us about the price cuts

hysam20241

Maybe.

Its going to depend on how Gamestop does their pricing for the refurbrished xbox 360. If I can get a refurbrished 360 for about $100 than its a deal. As for buying it brand new, its still too much.

I would like to see Sony drop their price but I don't see it happening this time around. One year MS will drop the price of the 360 and then the next year sony will lower their price. Honestly I feel like the two companies are working together right now to get as much money out of the consumer as possible instead of fighting each other with the way they are going about the price drops.

I know money is that tight. I won't be buying any new games. It will be buying old games that are $30 or cheaper for awhile. Beggers can't be choosers.

I think that flap thing looks like it can open for putting a bigger hard drive in the back.

Have there been side by side comparisons? I thought it was just a redesign rather than a slimming. Is it physically smaller? They dont need to shrink it imo, if it fixes old hardware issues that already is win/win scenario even if the pricing remains the same.

1. It looks better.

2. It has a chance to restore consumer confidence.

3. The Core and Elite models have been reduced by 50$ each.

Been awhile since I had my 360, but it's power brick got HOT. So, I don't care how much smaller and less power consuming the CPU and GPU have gotten. Putting the hdd, power supply and wifi into a smaller case sounds like a real bad move for a console with a reliability problems. The redesign looks nice, but I'd want somebody else to try one put for a few months before plunking down 300 for one. Sounds like a good time to get an Elite if you've been on the fence though. Hmmmm....

Hmm. Still a proprietary drive though. It would be nice to see what they'll be charging for them. Though with 250gb as the smallest model, I don't imagine many people will be looking to upgrade it anytime soon.

http://www.gamerzines.com/xbox-360/news/new-xbox-europe-july-16th.html Nice MS, still cheaper than the PS3 slim over here . If I come into any money, I'll get one.
