The PlayStation 5 is without a doubt the ugliest and largest console ever created

What kind of confirmation do you need? Ports have been matched, discs drives have been matched. It's all been cross-referenced and everyone is coming up with the same thing.

Out of those in the picture I would agree, although that PS3 fat comes pretty close.

Let's be honest here, the ps4 has had cooling issues. Playing some games it's like an airplane taking off. This chimney-like design with lots of room will be a big improvement imo. Much rather have big and quiet, than small and noisy. Besides I have a good corner next to the TV where I can put it :).

How do we even know it's quiet? That's still up in the air, size doesn't equate to noise.

We don't know. A bigger box will have more room for cooling. There is no other good reason to make the box that big. Cerny acknowledge the cooling problems during his talk, so it has been a focus for them.

It looks ridiculous. Sony's console design team has been having a laugh since last gen. The Ps4Pro was an underpowered brick of a console that looked gross. Not to mention it's the loudest console I ever owned. Sitting next to an Xbox One X, a lot smaller, aesthetic, and noiseless.

What are you guys on? Optical discs are all the same size, USB ports are all the same size, cross referencing the drives and port gives you the accurate scale of the system...

Please for the love of god explain to all off us what makes this look untrustworthy...

We don't know as a fact but we do know that it was a consideration in the design from Cerny's boring presentation.

For me it's about games and Sony are delivering going by the line up showcased yesterday. MS will need to show us what's coming for the launch.

I think the PS5 design will split opinions more than the Series X. I think the worst criticism you can level at the Series X is that it's boring/bland. There's less to criticize about a plain rectangular box. I personally like the minimalism of the design, but more importantly I'm interested to see how well the thermals are controlled. Generally, bigger and slower fans are preferable over small fast spinning ones. The Series X thermal solution kinda reminds me of the infamous "trash can" Mac Pro design, which I recall had surprisingly good thermal control for its size.

I think it looks phenomenal. Sony always has to make its original console big. So they can sell the slim version down the line.

Looks like something that wouldn't leave the concept stage at alienware. The Xbox Series X is ugly in a, discrete PC way as is the original Xbone. This is just, draw attention to the ugly thing in the room. It makes the original Xbox 360 look sexy. It even redeems the original Xbox One.

The hugeuglytumorstation 5 is admittedly the perfect talking point, just like that Tesla pickup. It screams "look at me" which is great for a very short while, but ends up like a sad, ageing celebrity who refused to blend in and stand the test of time.

The only concession I can make is that the design is polarising....but even then....wasnt there a better solution for the disc bay? Why make the disc version asymmetrical? Why make it so it's not stackable? Bling bling led lights in 2020? Like I said, that's something Homer Simpson would approve of.

I'm serious when I say it's the most hideous console I've ever seen - and I've owned a lot of hideous consoles.

I got no issue with the look of PS5 or XSX. They both look good to me.

Only Spider-Man (more like an expansion than a new game) and Godfall have 2020 release dates, so it's not about games.
