I have find something to illustrate this comming fight this holiday because some of you are making fun of how tall the PS5 is,but are forgetting something.

Just about everyone (except for cows) are calling it fugly, you just need to accept the fact and move on. This is not a see if it sticks thing, it a the thing looks fugly thing.

Stop being butthurt over it as you won't be getting one anyway as you can't afford it.

I think someone needs to make 2 threads, the first a GoFundMe thread so we can all chip in and buy your broke arse a PooS5, and the other a poll asking if the thing is fugly or not.

please horizon zero dawn 2 is even better looking than the tech demo and that is a launch title.

nothing on xbox has come close to look like that.

Ugliest, in your opinion. If the size prevents it from overheating, then I really don't care. The Series X has a bland design, but if it's meant to be functional then I don't really care either.

2021 is not the year the PS5 is launching.

I hated the design when they first revealed it........but now it's kind of growing on me.

Upright only though, horizontal it looks like one of those fan made mock ups

I actually like the design. It looks more Alienware and less like the pizza slice warmer that we saw before. It'll look good next to my PC tower honestly.

The thing I'm still curious about, is the marketing effect it will have. Microsoft went with a plain black box, while Sony went with a futuristic tower. To the uneducated or young consumer looking at them side by side, will the huge difference in plain vs futuristic be a deciding factor?

so its early 2021 its launch window. still looks better than the tech demo and sony first first party game on the ps5 imagine in 2 years what sony first party will look like.

even rachat and clank looked better than all the series x games so far and it shows what the ssd speeds can do. going to one world to the next without any load screens.

this shows why xbox should dump the one x because just look at rachat and clank no way cross gen games can do what there doing in that game.

If you go outside these forums there is definitely those that think it's odd looking but there are also many that like the design. It's not just "cows" saying they think it's futuristic looking and generally appealing to look at.

Am I the only non-cow who thinks the design has potential? If the frame were a brushed aluminium (or, fake anyway it's a console lol) and they got rid of the silly blue highlights this would be wonderfully artistic.

Good concept, just not well executed.

I like it especially the color scheme.

i think its the on of the best looking console ever. the bigger the better. i loved my fat ps3. I like the blue lights going done the console.

besides its going to look awesome next to my psvr. like how its going to match.

What are you talking about, the release date on Horizon 2 is listed as TBA, so it might be 2 years away.

Seems like you are forgetting how good Ratchet and Clank looks on the PS4.

And the fact that the difference between PS4 launch games vs end of life games was not substantial.

Infamous Second Son to Spider Man is not a night a day difference.

Saying that in 2 years or end of life games will look drastically better goes against what the developers are saying that every since consoles adopted X86 platform they can use 100% of the power from the gate.

Also he is dead wrong the level of fidelity in the UE5 demo surpassed everything shown so far from the next consoles... From lighting to texture resolution and scale/complexity of scenes.

Just one problem we're discussing it on this forum, so people outside this forum like joe Blow down the street means nothing, and most here are calling it fugly. Its nothing to lose sleep over as you won't be looking at it while gaming, well I hope you're not.

You are correct on all fronts. I anticipate better utilization of ray tracing over the years. The current implementation is not particularly great and there is room for stronger optimization of the tech. With that said, I don't anticipate much of a visual difference with those advancements, just a change in developer work flow.

Wouldn't call it the ugliest but it's definitely not pretty to me.

It reminds me of the old Sky plus box I had around 15 years ago.

no i didn't it looked even better way more detailed worlds and had small amounts of ray tracing as well you can see the light reflecting off clanks metal body. im talking about the one rift to another rift. one world to the next without even stopping to load the world in. no way current gen games are able to do that. to completely changing many worlds in 20 sec. he went through what 4 rifts or more in 20 sec.

going cross gen will hold the series x back with this alone. not one game ever is able to go to one world to the next that fast. even rachat controlled a weapon that made him rift to another planet. so the rifts are not planned or scripted. there random rifts.

I hate how massive Sony keeps making their consoles. The base PS4 was too big, and their "slim" PS3s and PS4s are not even small. They are simply slightly trimmed massive boxes.

I do like the white on black stormtroopers look. I've always been a fan of that look. It is weirdly curvaceous though!

The disk bulge definitely looks odd but, the digital only edition looks pretty darn slick.

I think the console looks okay but it does look impractical because I wonder how this thing will disperse heat since it looks like there will be an uneven distribution of heat on the left due to the design.

If things outside of this place which by the way has very few members now compare to the long gone 360 days were to go by,the xbox one would have been a total success and DX12 and the cloud would have over turn the PS4 power gap,and the xbox line up would have been a total success in all fronts.

I dont really like either.. The xbox is just a black brick, and the ps5 is a little too 'out there' for my taste. Does anyone know if they will make a black version? I remember seeing a black ps5 controller. I would like it more in black I think.

MS' design still looks better from a functional perspective. Personally I like the aesthetics of the XSX better as well.

I don't dislike the PS5 design. I def prefer the design without the drive. I hope they have a few color options available for the console and controller by the time Demon's Souls comes out.

I honestly think it's the coolest console design I have ever seen. Much bolder then the boring XSX.

I think it looks great. Very bold design. It's a lot thinner than many had suggested it would be. Love the textured look on the inner shell.

The PS5 looks sick! The PS4 Pro design looked far more worse.

The design is definitely unusual, but I like it.

They better at least launch a black model to hide the ugly. Ascetically, who has any white components in their entertainment set up that matches?

It may be thinner but its much longer while the xsx is shorter but much thicker. Both companies went the opposite of eachother.

Looks are not everything. Cooling is important. If the PS5 sounds like a jet engine then the design is a failure. If it is quiet then who cares. Means the system doesn’t run hot. Microsoft and Sony went with completely different design languages. Both are fine to me as long as they get the job done.

I like it. It's eye catching.

I have certainly seen worse consoles (the fat PS3, the 80s VCR X1, the original DS). I would prefer it in black or an almost black navy with a white middle maybe. I saw a mockup of a spiderman one also which looked very nice.

The 2 things that annoy me really are its size and the placement of the disc drive. I'm looking at my setup here and its going to be a bit of a squeeze to fit it in whenever i get it. Thankfully it has that stand so i wont need to worry about having the back corner hanging out and causing the console to wobble.

The disc drive is also on the underside which is a bit of a pain. I'm old and my back hurts :P.
