Well,as you can see there are plenty of PS3's in the Netherlands. Most stores thought that it would be a xbox like hype wich was sold out for monts in the Netherlands. Well, I thinkthat the 360 has won (in thr Netherlands).

BTW that guy is me!!! LOL

I get payed next Friday, and I bet, if I wanted, I could go into any major highstreet retailer and pick one up. The same could not be said fr the Wii. Every store is constantly out of stock, because as soon as they get more in, it's gone with a day. I thought it was funny seeing a sign saying "Pre-order your PS3 and get it on day one" right next to a sign saying "expecting new Wii stock soon". This sign is up a lot, and it's either a bad case of supply issues on Nintendo's part, or every time the get some in, they're gone because everyone wants one. I never knew so many people with a Nintendo console before. I know, no less than 5 other people with a Wii, and I couldn't say te same for the Gamecube in it's wholoe 5 year lifespan. I don't know anyone with a PS3, or anyone who's planning on getting one any time soon. But that's not to say I don't know people who want one. Plenty do, but they simply can't afford it. As a student, nost people I know are other students, and well, students don't have any money. I put myself out of pocket when I bought my Wii. The console + 3 games, and an extra wiimote and nunchuk is still only about £350 in the UK, which is £75 less than a PS3 without any games. I find it hard to believe any console manufacturer can produce enough stock to cater for the demand of their console on day one, unless the demand is so low. GAME (UK's main games retailer) had pre-orders for PS3 going until the final day, but Wii pre-orders stopped in november before the system released in December. It's obvious, and it doesn't matted how much Sony try to convince us otherwise, but the PS3 is a slow burner. It's not yet determinable if that flame will fully ignite to the size of the PS2's, but at the moment, that flame could easily be doused by that of the Wii, or Xbox 360.

by this logic I could have bought a ps3 here in nz a month ago since there were ps3 boxes, what reatailer would leave ps3s sitting there waiting to be taken?

Lol no. Its €599. And I live there. There is no way someone is even gonna pay €800 for it. Not even €599. And that pic is true. I can see a sign wich says: Accesoires. Which is a dutch word. I will take some pictures soon too. I have seen plenty of stores with that amount of PS3's.

Nope its not...It costs 599 euros exactly I live in Amsterdam myself. That picture is from the Media Markt. I was considering buying the system at launch. But when I went in to my local Gameshop...it was clear PS3 is a flop. Not many people are interested in it. There were free cakes, and drinks etc...and yet it was not very crowded. Unlike the Xbox 360 launch wich I camped for about 6 hours. So I had second thoughts...I decided to save my money and buy S.T.A.L.K.E.R for the PC. I don't regret one bit! What a awesome game!

Well, europe is a big place. Ps3 sold 300K in UK alone just in the 1st day, 500K in EU out of ~700K. In some countries it's selling better than others. http://www.vgcharts.org/forum/thread.php?id=871&start=150#end

It looks like Europe is now getting afflicted by the same ugly eye sore American shoppers have had to deal with for the past few months. The "pyramid of PS3". They might as well start dumping the store garbage in the middle of the shopping lanes for all the good it will do them.

425 quid is 850 dollars its ludicrous. + I knew this would happed because it took a couple of weeks for pr-orders to sell out.

+ For american PS3 fanboys this is a worry since Europe has traditionally had the highest ratio of sony- other consoles.

They should do what, the stores here in Montreal do. Hide them in the back stock room. All my stores have PS3's but they don't display them for fear of "theives" according to employees. I think it's just because they don't want people to think they aren't selling. Best Buy does however stock them on the shelves.

Sorry, the Netherlands>USA. Have you ever seen USA playing Football(soccer)? They suck. Guess what, Amsterdam Admirals won the world cup in American Football a couple years ago. Holland has legal weed, in USA you will be arrested. If a teacher incidently goes on a Porn site they will not get 40 years in prison here just like in the USA. Sorry but Holland>USA. And The Netherlands are best in keeping the water out of the land. Plus the Port of Rotterdam, in Holland is the biggest port of whole EU and one of the biggest of the whole world besides Singapore

The 3rd console curse has hit sony hard. And with every game being moved to the 360, I really do see the ps3 coming last this gen.
