The Ps3 is pulling ahead graphically in 2009...

...is really a false statment. Why people tend to say this is because well, to put it short, it's the sony games. In other words, we're giving just as much attention and have just as much info on some 2009 titles as we have on games that are coming in a few months.

You know, you shouldn't be comparing Killzone 2 to gears even. That's dumb really. Obviously we're going to see graphical progression.

And then what about Halo: Keep it Clean. Don't you think that Bungie, especially after the whole view of Halo 3's graphics suck (despite the fact that they really don't) they're going to go beserk on you fanboys? Yea, they'll pump it up. Bungie is known for great graphics. Halo 3 showed it imo. Why did people say it looked like crap? Well... uhh... that's the forums for you, not the gamers.

Same even with the whole GT thing. Yea, it looked better than Forza 2, but Forza 3 and PGR5 will probably have released by the time the next GT comes out. So why were we comparing Forza 2 to GT when they're not going up against each other?

Were not going to see any huge graphical leaps next year from either console. Both systems are already past their second generation of games. We'll likely see an improvement it small things like frame rate stability and anti-aliasing.

Not sure what you mean by Star Ocean looking great though. The screenshots you posted and very blurry and from what high rez screenshots I have seen it doesn't look much better than Infinite Undiscovery or Last Remnant. Also don't get your hopes up for the Halo 3 expansion being mindblowing. It will likely only run on a modified version of the Halo 3 engine. The reason Halo 3's graphics got panned was because Halo 2 was one of if not the best looking game on Xbox. As great Halo 3 looks it wasn't the same visual benchmark for the console that the first 2 games were. Also the fact that there is alot more going on than say for an example a game like CoD4. Enviroments are much larger and open, almost nothing is pre-scripted, alot of physics going on with ragdolls and the amount of vehicles moving about and far superior AI than CoD4'a "Run to this spot and get shot then respawn infinatley repeat".

Don't expect to see any huge advancements between the graphics from the best looking games of 2008 and 2009.

Well games will look better than games that were released a year ago. But the PS3 is definitely not pulling ahead of the 360, but still pushing out better graphics than its previous games.

Peter says he wants it to be very filmic and theatrical. Ryan Peyton did MGS4 along with Kojima. Kojima really does stuff of the story and direction- so is peter jackson essentially fitting in as kojima here?

Lost Odyssey laughs at Uncharted. I'm not saying it can't be a fun game, they just overdid the colors, and the water looks unrealistic. Lost Odyssey uses photo-realistic textures.

If you look at all the PS3 exclusive compared to the Xbox360 exclusives, it's obvious that the PS3 exclusive blow away the 360 ones graphically.

Resistance 2 and Killzone 2 already looks superior to everything the 360 has to offer. Not to mention games that already game out such as Uncharted and MGS4 can only be done on PS3, because the 360's hardware has limitations that keep it from being able to produce the same kind of graphics PS3 can.

Look at games like Dead Space and Tom's Clancy End War that were built as for PS3 as the top platform. They look superior on the PS3.

The reason is because the developers are able to get AAx8 and AFx16 on PS3. While on the Xbox360 hardware is limited to AAx2 and the graphics chip on the 360 is not able to perform anismotropic filtering. So developers have to settle with bilinear filtering for the textures of the Xbox360.

Why do you think that no racing game on Xbox360 can touch Gran Turismo 5's visual or Uncharted's level of realism. Not to mention all the new games for PS3 from Team Ico, Konami and Namco, Capcom. I think that God of War 3 and other titles on PS3 will set the bar for next gen visuals next year. Almost every developer can confirm that.

Uncharted is still the undisputed kings of graphics, I don't think Gears of War 2 can top it. Besides, the PC port of Gears 2 will be superior in every way anyways. Why limit yourself to the Xbox360's 720p and 30fps when you can play on a PCat 1900X1600 at 60fps or more.
