The PS4 ships with 3 free games right?

I wonder if Blacklight: Retribution will also be a launch title for the ps4 (another free to play), checked up some sites claiming it is a launch title, but from E3 inteview was only mentioned as a "GOAL for launch"

Would Be another great bonus for ps4, if it is a launch title.

This is one of a few reasons the PS4 represents really good value at launch to me. The F2P titles, Drive Club which i'll get with the 6 months i will still have on my PS+ subscription and the game i will gain in the months after that all mean i won't have to shell out much on games at launch. Add in the cheaper launch price, the fact that i can use my old headset and it comes with a charging cable (Xbox 1 doesn't i think), then the cash adds up and i'll be able to afford more games than with an Xbox.

GS doesn't realize that most people with PCs can't run those games. At least 4 free games available on launch is ONLY a benefit stop making excuses.

Most people with PCs, likely don't play even remotely hardware-intensive games on them. They're an irrelevant market.

DC Universe, Planetside 2, and Warframe are all day one exclusives, are F2P. So in essence, all PS4's come with 3 free games, right?

Now I know X1 fanboys will crap on this by saying that they're all crap games, but that argument is subjective at best.

Doesn't this add to the value of the PS3 considerably? Not only is it cheaper, and more powerful, but one could literally come home with just a PS4, and have an MMO, FPS, and 3rd person action game to play without spending one red cent on games.

Snugenz

Not exclusive. They're on the PC and have been for ages.

according to your fellow lems they arent on xbone, so they must count (i know the stupidity of that comment but since lems use it when its convenient i dont see why ps4 users cant)

I don't get the issue with the phrase "console exclusive", would you guys prefer people typed out "game that is available on only one home console but is also available on PC and/or iOS/Android devices/handhelds?" every time they want to discuss such a game? Or should the availability of certain games on particular consoles not be mentioned at all?

4. Games found on systems made by the same company are called ___ exclusives (fill in the name with the name of the founding company. )

~ If it is only found on the Xbox and Xbox360, it is called a Microsoft Exclusive.

~ If it is only found on the PS2, PS3, and PSP, it is called a Sony Exclusive.

~If it is only found on the Wii or DS, it is called a Nintendo Exclusive.

5. The last rule. Games found on both the PC and the Xbox360 can NEVER be called Microsoft exclusives. (This is kind of obvious. Although it may be true that they are both run on systems that were developed by Microsoft, there are Sony computers. And since Sony is also a competitor, it therefore loses rights to be called exclusive.)

So games that are available on Xbox/PC or PS/PC need to be referred to as multiplats or have the exact platforms they are available for written out in full every time they are referred to? Sounds ludicrous, but hey, System Wars.

People don't use it that way.

People just use it to point out that Xbox or PS doesn't have a game ( which when it comes to having a better overall library is kind of a big deal).

The term itself is kind of stupid (console exclusive), I've switched to PC/PS4 exclusive.

How often does that come up? The term "console exclusive" is generally used in debates between console fanboys, but I guess you could infer from the games being referenced or the context of the discussion whether the term referred to games that were not available on PC or games that were available on one console and not the others. Just seems kind of unnecessary for every thread in which the term "console exclusive" is used to descend into endless arguments about the phrase instead of the actual topic.

What's weird about it is that "multiplat" doesn't convey all the information regarding a game that is available on one console and not others. this board is based on comparing platforms and it seems pointlessly pedantic to disallow a convenient term for describing a game that could influence purchasing decisions or give fanboys ammo for their debates.

Dumb thread I know, but am I really the only one here that thinks DC Universe Online isn't a bad game? I don't play it much but it's definitely fun. The bosses are almost always great, especially if you like comics. And the raids have pretty cool stories too even though the game only devotes a few minutes to them.

I'm guessing the people who hate it didn't get to level 30 (only takes 15-20 hours) or once they got there, they did all the boring stuff like toyman missions or did the same duos/alerts over and over. Which I don't get why you would do that, the game basically encourages you to play less than about 10 hours a week because half your reward you can only get once a week/month.

Exactly, most of the time cows just call a multisclusive ( trademark) a multiplat as an attempt  to nullify the advantage that game gives to the overall library.

one problem is that the forum is called system wars and not console wars. there shouldn't really be a disctinction between consoles and the pc since they're all gaming systems here and the pc counts as much as any console.

whats so weird or "hard" about it, if it is on xbox/pc or ps/pc they are multiplats, simple as that

CaseyWegner

What's weird about it is that "multiplat" doesn't convey all the information regarding a game that is available on one console and not others. this board is based on comparing platforms and it seems pointlessly pedantic to disallow a convenient term for describing a game that could influence purchasing decisions or give fanboys ammo for their debates.

one problem is that the forum is called system wars and not console wars. there shouldn't really be a disctinction between consoles and the pc since they're all gaming systems here and the pc counts as much as any console.

Games not being on a console gives the pc an advantage over that console too though. So even though "console exclusive" isn't realy the right term to use there should be a term other than multiplat to distinquish the situation.

Semantics? TBH, I hardly took it literally, given our online extension of consoles.

But it is an advantage that the PC has, whether people see it or use it as one doesn't really matter.

i'm not sure what "value" they add seeing as those games are free to begin with and that I already have them on my computer. Sure I guess if you are an unfortunate console only gamer this is value to you so whatever go ahead and run with it I guess :|

Also can you play those games without PS+?  Because if you can't then they are not free at all and sony is in fact charging you $50 a year to play them lol.

but why use a name that would have multiple, almost opposite meanings?

Does anyone know the answer to my question though? Will you have to have PS+ to play these "free" games. If so they are not free at all and are actually take away from the value because you can play them on PC for free.
