The PS5 is the first console I refuse to purchase due to how ungodly ugly it is

I can't hate anything that looks like it was made by Kaiba Corp, but it's definitely the most unwieldy-looking console I've ever seen. I was planning on waiting for a Slim (or Pro) but it seems like that may not be happening for a while so I'll still buy it just to play God of War: Ragnarok.

I don't care how it looks.. although it is pretty ugly.. lol. I think I'm going to get a purple or blue skin for it. Either way, I don't see how that matters, it's not like I'm sitting there staring at it or something...

It's a bit silly we have to do that still imo. You have the PC or Series X and then the PS5 all similar in technology, but it demands you buy the tech all over again. In an ideal world, you'd just choose a device. But I guess that's another discussion altogether.

It's a lot smaller than the PS5 for one. For two, I never intended to purchase it.

Nope! Gamers prefer exclusives and buying multiple hardware to play different games so they can brag about the game they didn't participate in making.🙄

Gaming is my passion and while it's true most PS5 exclusives will come to PC but for how long? God of War: Ragnarok looks like it could be a lot of fun so I wanna play it day one.

I hate how PS5 looks. Much prefer series X. It's like a mini compact PC. Could pass as a speaker.

Making the sides uneven and not symmetrical bugs me.

Honestly I don't really care about its appearance, I just wish manufacturers would stop trying to score style points at all and just put things in a standard box enclosure. It's the thing you use to pretend to kill people in games with, not a modern art piece.

If you can't make it small, make it inconspicuous at least. And for god's sake make it quieter. I finally saw one in action the other day and the noise is pretty obvious.

Is it like the DUFF? Designated Ugly Fat Friend? Simply standing next to it makes you look good?

I'm mildly interested in a whopping TWO games for PS5. One of them is a remake. Both of them likely to land on PC anyways. Just no reason to grab one.

We are probably not ever going to get a console that looks as incredible as a PS2 or as cute as a Gamecube ever again, but having said that this gen is pretty good. PS4/xbox one are dreadfully bland set top boxes that don't look like anything in particular. At least both Series X and PS5 took a bold design. The V for 5 shape is also nice.

oh yeah. i had one for a month. massive console. thing run way hotter then it should to. yes it quite but that do to how big it is.

I was thinking about getting a PS5, but upgraded my PC instead... The PS5 is so big that I might as well just upgrade my PC instead.

Yes, it is very big and ugly. I made it a centerpiece in an all black entertainment center setup and it’s starting to grow on me.

Its size is excusable for its power. Boots up into any game in about 20 seconds. Considerably faster than the pS4 was.

Is it a handheld/portable device? No?

Then who fucking cares what it looks like when it gets plugged in and put behind your TV or on your entertainment center where the only time you might interact with it is if you're swapping out discs.

It's a video game console, a glorified toy, get over yourself.

Wow, what terrible reasoning. I feel just the opposite. I appreciate the form factor of my Series X -- but it's so...dull. The PS5 on the other hand is way more interesting.

@Sagemode87: you have never owned all consoles like I have. So that pic is dumb and meaning less. The PS5 is the only console that wouldn't fit in my stand shelf, I had to take it out and put it on the bottom, then move it slightly outside the stand close to the floor just to get it to fit. It's thinner than the Xbox but the dumb and ugly shape stops it fitting in most shelves on the market.

It is literally the worst looking console of all time. Someone told me it looks like a woman's private parts. Sorry to get that image stuck in your head but now you won't ever not think that.

Its look is irrelevant, because it's probably so loud I'd have to keep it outside my bedroom anyway and have the controller signal go through the door, like with the PS4 and its teeny fan. I know console users want their systems to be as small as possible, but that harms ventilation terribly.

Also, if I did have it sitting in my TV cabinet, I would be more annoyed by the bright color. I have almost the whole wall behind the TV covered in black, and I use black masks to completely black out letterboxes in movies, as the local dimming isn't sufficient. The bezels on Sony TVs (the frame around the screens) are black for a reason. The sides of the TV may be silver, but when you're looking at it from the front you only see black. Why would I want a white console taking away from the whole cinematic black color scheme I got going?

Wouldn’t stop me from purchasing the PS5,if the XSX was sort of the same design I definitely would not have stopped me from buying it. It’s the games on the console that matters,isn’t it? Of course within reason,lol I don’t want a console the size of my couch.

It’s without doubt the worst designed console of its time. Looking at some 90s consoles now, they’re an eyesore…but the ps5 was created in a design era of minimalism, and I have no idea how it got approved.

I don't mind how it looks, but since most of Sony's offerings are either being offered on PC or just something I'm not interested in, I totally lost interest in getting one. I did factor in how it looks because it's really big and it'd just look ugly in my living room. I may rethink to buy one when a slim or a pro version releases. By that time, the library might get much larger anyway.

Would definitely buy a PS5 Slim over the PS5 just cause it reminds me of the Xbox One and that was like size of a VCR from the 1980's.

Yeah it is not the greatest looking console (neither is the XSX tbh), but honestly I don't care about that. I do wish that it was smaller, and that it came black by default (no idea why they chose the white color scheme). Certainly the PS5 stands out more than the XSX (and not in a good way imo). I am too cheap to buy the replacement face, but I am sure it would look fine/more palatable were it in black.

But honestly, for a gaming console, don't see why someone would make a buying decision based on how the console looks. Frankly don't think it matters.

I will add though that in my setup (or old setup) the PS5, in some ways works better than my XSX. The PS5 at least fits inside my entertainment cabinet. The XSX did not fit (since it is so wide). Not a big deal since the XSX could be hidden behind the TV but still...I think any console should be made taking into account whether it can fit (horizontally) inside an entertainment center.

Actually XSS is a lot smaller, but not XSX. You'll be surprised in ccm how both are close to each other.

It's madness to not buy a console because of how it looks. The specs should always be the first thought before purchasing. I don't care it looks like a block in Dubai.

@Juub1990: My thoughts exactly. I am also waiting for a slim PS5 version. It is the first time ever that a console design has put me off that much.

I kind of like when it's in standby. It looks like a street corner at night; a little like that Nighthawks diner painting. But besides that, it's a bag of turds. First Sony console I don't want.
