The "3DS is better than Vita because it will get more sales" argument

Is the stupidest argument I've ever heard.

There are also a lot more Saturn sales, but does that mean it's a better motor vehicle than a Maserati?

The PS Vita is clearly going to put the 3DS to shame, and at the price they are asking, the 3DS is in for some serious competition in the sales department as well.

The analogy is broken. In gaming industry hardware sales usually translate to software support. If 3DS outsells Vita by a large margin it will most likely have far more devs developing for it, especially since development budgets on it should be far smaller than on Vita

Actually, it isn't that stupid, and is in no way comparable to a car. The bulk of consumer only really buy one hand held. The one hand held that establishes the bigger installed base, usually comes out on top. I don't know where you got this thread title info, but the 3DS is certainly not there yet. Vita will have a chance, but one of the two will come out on top by a landslide, because of system sales.

3DS is better than Vita because it has better games. Although because this is completely personal the only way to tell what system wins is sales. Easy as that.Sgt_Crow

The line up was absolute garbage. The only good game worth mentioning/playing was Super Street Fighter 4. Everything else sucked. I belive the Vita line up will be better and make more sales than the 3DS. But hey, it may turn out diffrently.

I think that it will depend on the software. Spec wise the psp was better than the DS, but the DS had far better software.

Alot of people already mention this but who says that? I haven't come across anybody who said that.

Look, in video games, usually, unless you're the Wii, the console with the most sales gets the most third party support

Despite what some people may say, and its fair because everyone has their own opinion, the DS outsold the PSP by a wide margin and therefore had a much bigger library of first and third party games. It destroyed the PSP in terms of A/AA/AAA games in the eyes of both critics and consumers. Games sold better on the DS, and they even generally got better reviews.

The Vita is starting far behind. It may be 10-15 million units behind the 3DS by the time it releases, and even then its going to be MURDERED in it's first holiday season by the 3DS and its superior software/hardware sales because of the 3DS having a better first party line up. Mario Kart, Super Mario 3D, Kid Icarus and Star Fox all within 4 months?

Also, Sony needs to detail their piracy solution because if i was a third party I'd have little faith in Vita being different than PSP. Whereas at least Nintendo breaks your 3DS if you pirate 3DS software.

The reason why most people liked the DS over the PSP was because of more good games not more sales. 3ds' first showing at E3 showed how many good games? I think there will be about 6 good ones by the end of this year(2 being remakes). Where as there have been 2 that look good for PSVita(Uncharted and LBP). We don't even have a solid release date or anything confirmed about what games will be on the Vita for the next year.
