that's ok M$ can just release the same halo game over and over like how Nintendo does with Mario
Mario is an icon of rehashes and lazy thinking
I guess you think incorporating physics into Mario's platforming and constructing levels designs around this is lazy thinking.
Most people who accuse Mario or rehashes don't know anything about Mario's 3D games. There's only been 3 major ones and they all had different catches to them.
Ratchet and Clank? Now that's laziness. Mario? No.
The game has been out what... a month? Icons take years, if not decades even to form in the minds of people.foxhound_foxTrue. While I can definitely see him becoming a gaming icon in the long run, there is no way an icon, in any industry, can be made in the duration of a month...well I take that back. The movie industry is on speed, we see icons being made and crashing on a daily basis. :P
Absolutely not, no more than let's say Nariko from Heavenly Sword. He will be forgotten and Cows will have moved on when the next PS3 "savior" (KZ2) comes along.PripyatI think time will tell. Sackboy certainly has the look and LBP is a very worthy game. P.S. Is that a peek-a-poo in your avatar? LOL cute. I have one as well.
Well I guess there's a difference between being an actual gaming icon and being a System Wars icon. In real life, Sackboy is as much of a gaming icon as Michael Moore is a sex icon.Wow 49% voted Sack Boy as a gaming icon. Oh wow lol. Guess anybody can be a gaming icon these days.

We don't know yet. He has the potential to be. And LBP as a game is more than enough (quality wise) to grant him iconic status. We will see...TREAL_SinceYeah, if LBP becomes a long-running franchise and can sell better then, it looks like we have ourselves a weeeneerr.

A small diamond looks the same and doesnt stick in peoples minds when its in a pile of other diamonds, but when you throw that diamond in a pile of dirt it looks better then all the rest; makes it hard to forget.
What is he an icon to?
Master Chief is an icon to Sci-Fi FPS fans.
Gordan Freeman is an icon to FPS games in general.
Mario is an icon to platformers and gaming in general.
I don't see what Sackboy is an icon of.
Community? Pity Sony is butchering it with crap moderators. What is he an icon to?

The only people he's an icon to is the huge Sony fanboys, it was his game that gave the PS3 it's first AAAE.bethwo
A bit pointless when you consider they already had an AAAAE. Solid Snake is an icon, but what is he an icon to? Apart from Sony fans, obviously.
When I think of gaming icons, I think of characters like Mario, Link, Sonic, Snake, Master Chief, Gordon Freeman, Lara Croft, etc., not because of the characters themselves but the story behind them and the story they went through. While Sackboy has no story. To me, Sackboy is just like an Avatar, it's a nobody that you could customize to make it look like a somebody. So Sackboy is not a gaming icon at all.
An icon is someone like Mario... if you show a picture of Mario to anyone on the street, they will recognize him and know who he is.
Pikachu, Sonic, DK, Pac-Man and Link are also up there. Waaay ahead of MC. Sackboy is nothing.
What about Ryu?
He's pretty big in the gaming industry
Mongo-Boss
I put Ryu in third place of icons (behind Mario and Pac-Man) he is a very recognizable character.
Sackboy? nah, is cute, but an icon? not at all. And if he dies with this game, he will be forgotten in the next couple of years.
so far, sackboy sold less than a million copies of little big planet worldwide
meanwhile, mario (a REAL icon) pushed over 7 million copies of mario galaxy and over 10 million copies of mario kart
sackboy was only able to score a 9.0
mario outscored sackboy (galaxy got a 9.5) and won GOTY
numbers don't lie
mario dominates sackboy on ALL fronts (sales, reviews, fanbase.....you name it). and because of that, i wouldn't want sackboy as my icon if i were sony.
the only legit icon sony has left is snake....but i guess even snake is a bad choice now with all this speculation of MGS coming to 360
Umm... Snake was never a Sony icon, he managed to show up on NES, MSX, Game Cube, and even Xbox last gen in MGS2 Sustinence(or what ever) his most highly sucessful games have only showed up on the Playstation brand. But I guess Sony's only massive Icon was Crash, he's still sticks in the back of some peoples minds and hearts, even though his recent games have been downers.so far, sackboy sold less than a million copies of little big planet worldwide
