[QUOTE="Shhadow_Viper"][QUOTE="360hammer"]Well it is true that driving and crashing should rarely be part of the racing experience. That is (was?) a GT shortcoming, but one that was blown out of proportion. I hate that argument so much. If you crash into a wall in real life, you don't magically bump off and continue to race.....That's why you don't crash into walls. :)Real drivers don't play bumper cars or crash. LOL, couldn't resist. Although that is probibly why the slogan doesn't say the real racing simulator.

What kind of shameful hollow victory is that? Why even play the game just try to and cheat and exploit the games shortcomings to entirely miss out on everything the game does right? I agree that it is a fallback to the series, but one that is practically non-existent when you factor in proper execution.
Besides good luck winning S-class races in GT5p by hacking around, even without damage modeling, most contact pretty much requires a restart to win the race due to timed horsepower limiting penalties.

That's simply not true...
3 of the tests you HAVE to hack to get gold...and because of the horrible inconstant penalty system.....you can still ride walls...under cut cars at speed..clip the corner of the track and sill clear the event....The license tests are the biggest joke of GT..I hope they completely do away with them in GT5...

I don't know I avoided hacking altogether cause I would get penalties and that made the difficult races even more difficult. But I wasn't actively trying to see what kind of cheating I could get away with. I guess there may still be some exploits for those willing to find them. I spent more time trying to win by not cheating, the game really is what you make it. I get a rush going into a corner at speed with two cars in front of me and I outbrake and out corner them both without contact, I know when I do it right and I know when I don't. The damage is useless when I do it right which is going to be the majority of my time playing the game. As for the license testing , I can somewhat agree with you that it was a pain, but with all those cheaters out there that was some of the only challenges the game provided.[QUOTE="masiisam"][QUOTE="Shhadow_Viper"]

I just disagreed with "Besides good luck winning S-class races in GT5p by hacking around"..You simply can..... and to go one further you have to in some events to get gold....That's all my post was intended to say..

I guess that's why I can't get all the golds. :P I hear you though, I just assumed you couldn't because I was getting penalized for the slightest contact it seemed, which is really frustrating I might add.[QUOTE="Camer999"]

because better then GT would be a lie. It would have to say: "Less Cars then GT" "Lower resolution then GT" or "won't sell like GT"

because better than FM would be a lie. It would have to say: "Less custimization than FM" or "lower poly count than FM or "online setup isn't as good as FM".
the funnny thing is that everything he said are facts. you dont know anything about gt5 custimizations, poly count, and def its online systemWell, I doubt people will beable to put detailed faces and abtract art like you can in real life like in forza unlike GT5. GT5 poly count=200k. FM3 has auctions and a ton of other features, GT5 doesn't compare.
[QUOTE="siLVURcross"]So why can't microsoft put "better than gt" on their forza boxart?Because that would be false advertisement. It says "We're confident you'll enjoy this product", if a product doesn't sound confident, the consumer won't feel confident in purchasing it. There's always "arrogant" slogans, but it's only to catch consumers.
Example:
"We have the best beer in the world!" over "We ALMOST have the best beer in the world!"
The first one obviously sounds better even if it isn't true.

If you really believe all driving games are the same, then I feel really sorry for you. You clearly haven't played many racing games. Also there are driving sims. You have two types of racing games. Arcade and sim. GT falls under sim.All racing games are the same. There are no driving simulators.

OK, I think you should put that into some kind of context. At the very least, T10 have praised Polyphonic, they even talked up the GT series as something they were aiming to beat, they recognised that the GT series set the bar and provided much of the inspiration for Forza etc. That is showing muh much more humility than what Polyphonic do with the "real driving sim", which implies Forza is...umm somehow fake? I mean is that what they're trying to imply, Forza is not a 'real driving sim' ??
Just my thoughts

Well, yea, all greenwalt was saying was that Gran turismo inspired the forza series, but it's felt like they stopped inovating, stopped evolving, and that it's his job to move the genre forward. I don't see what's wrong about that at all. And he was talking on behalf of his own oppinion, and not that of the studio as a whole. Please Log In to post.
